After enduring the malign White House ghosts and the Machiavellian Autopen, President Trump’s transparency sure is refreshing. His Truth Social posts are a major vehicle for promulgating his nearly real-time machinations, and official statements on policy, to anyone who follows.
Now, certain potentially market-moving posts will only be timely for paid subscribers, while the general public are initially excluded from this important corner of the public square. Paying customers like financial firms will be alerted to President Trump’s market-moving posts while the common schmuck remains oblivious — perhaps until it is too late to leverage the news.

So New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has a solution to the obvious problems of his free government groceries going out the door to speculators and out-of-staters who can buy and can resell the discounted foods at a profit.
Here he is: The July 27 exchange, transcribed by Grok and me:
Q: How you gonna keep people from taking advantage of that deal basically, and is there going to be a limit on the number of items that someone can take that are discounted at that level from that essential basket?

You might be thinking, "Why, of course they did. They are Democrats, after all."
But actually, it is more than a little surprising that the California Democratic Party took this stand, because it is stabbing their financial base in the back and a threat to the organized crime ring that is at the heart of the Democratic Party in that state.
In other words, they chose ideological fealty to the growing socialist movement in the party over the self-interest of the political class, which ought to surprise you just a bit. Whatever they say, almost everybody in the Establishment is in it for themselves, not to create a socialist utopia.

Politico has dropped a story about Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI).
It's mostly about how she's doing in Michigan and how she's dealing with the fight between Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11) and Abdul El-Sayed for the Democratic nomination for the Senate to replace Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI)
But there's also a bit suggesting she might be interested in a presidential run.
Later, I asked Slotkin about who she might lean on to staff a presidential campaign.
“I think the idea that there would be like a playbook for how to run for president, if you think there is, and you’re just following that playbook, you’re going to lose,

Former Fort Worth U.S. Rep. Kay Granger has died, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson said in a Sunday social media post. She was 83.
Granger was the first Republican woman elected to represent Texas in Washington, D.C.
She took the seat in 1997 after Democrat Pete Geren retired, defeating Hugh Parmer, and went on to serve Texas’ 12th Congressional District for nearly three decades. Granger was the most senior Republican member of the state’s delegation by the end of her tenure. During this time, she also rose through the ranks to lead the powerful House Appropriations Committee, the first woman from her party to hold that position.

Republican holdouts in the Senate announced Monday morning a deal with the Trump administration to advance attorney general nominee Todd Blanche.
Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina had sought concessions from the administration related to its so-called anti-weaponization fund and settlement agreement that limited IRS audits of Donald Trump and his family members. The administration addressed both of those concerns, and the two senators will both vote for Blanche, according to a joint statement.
“We are pleased that the Department of Justice has issued a formal order terminating the anti-weaponization fund,”

Did you hear that scraping noise? That's the sound of goalposts being moved. This time, it involves that thing that happens rarely if ever, according to the legacy media, although it sure seems to keep happening. Namely, people voting who shouldn't be.
As yet another case of an illegal alien registering to vote and then casting a ballot has emerged, Politico, that bastion of the left-tilted legacy media, has been forced to admit that, yes, there's a problem.
You don't say.
That’s because Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill disclosed last week that a “software error”

The rise of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and other radicals has thrown the Democrat Party into turmoil.
We've seen the DSA admitting quite openly how they want to upend critical principles that uphold our system of government. Yet, we hear many Democrats, in response, say that the party is a "big tent." Translation? We'll let anyone in if we think it helps our power. But one who is standing up against it is the frequently ranting Democrat operative, James Carville. But in this case, all of his ranting is well deserved. He knows his party is committing political suicide, and he just put them on notice about it.

As RedState reported, there was a mass shooting at a newly opened Twin Falls, Idaho, In-N-Out restaurant on Saturday afternoon, where the shooter was seen on video opening fire, including at/near a parked Tesla vehicle. Also seen on video was what appeared to be an armed citizen trying to engage the shooter. In an update to this story, law enforcement officials held a press conference on Sunday afternoon and shared that three people were killed and seven were injured.
In all, three people died and seven others were injured at the recently opened restaurant in the southern Idaho city of about 56,000 people. Authorities said Sunday that two of the injured

The Democrat Party is in real trouble. Just ask Bill Maher.
Maher took direct aim at the Democratic Socialists of America and the wave of far-left candidates the party keeps promoting, and he did it by simply reading their own words back to the audience.
"Trump has told 1 trillion lies, but when he says the DSA are actually communists, that's not one of them," Maher said. "And it's not hard to prove it just by quoting the DSA and their candidates."
Maher recalled telling Vice President J.D. Vance that his vote was "in play" if the Democrat Party kept drifting toward the DSA, only to be mocked for it during his vacation.

In Twin Falls, Idaho, an utterly evil piece of human detritus opened fire at an In-N-Out burger shop, killing three and wounding at least seven (some critically), and, it appears, killing himself (although officials haven’t confirmed his cause of death). What seems to have ended the spree is when an armed civilian, at great risk to himself, started firing back, driving the shooter away from the scene. This is a recurring pattern: Mass shootings end, and shootings that are obviously intended to be mass casualty events cannot escalate, when an armed civilian is there to engage the shooter. This is not a slight to the police;

CAIRO — U.S. President Donald Trump said in a Saturday evening social media post he will order American forces to hold off on new strikes against Iran, claiming Mideast allies had reached the parameters of a deal to end the five-month old war.
The emerging deal “would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL,” Trump said.
