Former Fort Worth U.S. Rep. Kay Granger has died, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson said in a Sunday social media post. She was 83. Granger was the first Republican woman elected to represent Texas in Washington, D.C. She took the seat in 1997 after Democrat Pete Geren retired, defeating Hugh Parmer, and went on to serve Texas’ 12th Congressional District for nearly three decades. Granger was the most senior Republican member of the state’s delegation by the end of her tenure. During this time, she also rose through the ranks to lead the powerful House Appropriations Committee, the first woman from her party to hold that position.

Republican holdouts in the Senate announced Monday morning a deal with the Trump administration to advance attorney general nominee Todd Blanche. Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina had sought concessions from the administration related to its so-called anti-weaponization fund and settlement agreement that limited IRS audits of Donald Trump and his family members. The administration addressed both of those concerns, and the two senators will both vote for Blanche, according to a joint statement. “We are pleased that the Department of Justice has issued a formal order terminating the anti-weaponization fund,”

Did you hear that scraping noise? That's the sound of goalposts being moved. This time, it involves that thing that happens rarely if ever, according to the legacy media, although it sure seems to keep happening. Namely, people voting who shouldn't be. As yet another case of an illegal alien registering to vote and then casting a ballot has emerged, Politico, that bastion of the left-tilted legacy media, has been forced to admit that, yes, there's a problem. You don't say. That’s because Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill disclosed last week that a “software error”

The rise of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and other radicals has thrown the Democrat Party into turmoil. We've seen the DSA admitting quite openly how they want to upend critical principles that uphold our system of government. Yet, we hear many Democrats, in response, say that the party is a "big tent." Translation? We'll let anyone in if we think it helps our power. But one who is standing up against it is the frequently ranting Democrat operative, James Carville. But in this case, all of his ranting is well deserved. He knows his party is committing political suicide, and he just put them on notice about it.

As RedState reported, there was a mass shooting at a newly opened Twin Falls, Idaho, In-N-Out restaurant on Saturday afternoon, where the shooter was seen on video opening fire, including at/near a parked Tesla vehicle. Also seen on video was what appeared to be an armed citizen trying to engage the shooter. In an update to this story, law enforcement officials held a press conference on Sunday afternoon and shared that three people were killed and seven were injured. In all, three people died and seven others were injured at the recently opened restaurant in the southern Idaho city of about 56,000 people. Authorities said Sunday that two of the injured

The Democrat Party is in real trouble. Just ask Bill Maher. Maher took direct aim at the Democratic Socialists of America and the wave of far-left candidates the party keeps promoting, and he did it by simply reading their own words back to the audience. "Trump has told 1 trillion lies, but when he says the DSA are actually communists, that's not one of them," Maher said. "And it's not hard to prove it just by quoting the DSA and their candidates." Maher recalled telling Vice President J.D. Vance that his vote was "in play" if the Democrat Party kept drifting toward the DSA, only to be mocked for it during his vacation.
In Idaho, a murder spree ended when a

In Twin Falls, Idaho, an utterly evil piece of human detritus opened fire at an In-N-Out burger shop, killing three and wounding at least seven (some critically), and, it appears, killing himself (although officials haven’t confirmed his cause of death). What seems to have ended the spree is when an armed civilian, at great risk to himself, started firing back, driving the shooter away from the scene. This is a recurring pattern: Mass shootings end, and shootings that are obviously intended to be mass casualty events cannot escalate, when an armed civilian is there to engage the shooter. This is not a slight to the police;

CAIRO — U.S. President Donald Trump said in a Saturday evening social media post he will order American forces to hold off on new strikes against Iran, claiming Mideast allies had reached the parameters of a deal to end the five-month old war. The emerging deal “would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL,” Trump said.

A madman gunned down two people and wounded several others at a brand new In-N-Out Burger in Idaho on Saturday, sending panicked patrons running for their lives. The shooter, who is among the dead, launched his rampage inside the burger joint in Twins Falls at around 2 p.m. local time before heading outside – in clear view of witnesses who recorded the harrowing scene. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said investigators were still working to determine the final number of people injured and did not say how many people may have been involved. Hicks also said officials believe “the threat to the community is over”

CEUTA, Spain — Tens of thousands of migrants who crossed into Spain’s tiny Ceuta territory returned voluntarily to Morocco on Friday, a day after the influx triggered chaos in the North African city and reignited the immigration debate in Europe and beyond. At least 57 migrants died on the journey. Ceuta’s president put the number of migrants at 60,000, which was equivalent to 70% of the territory’s population. But most of them soon went back, the Spanish government said, after the sudden arrival of so many people sparked a humanitarian crisis. Some migrants swam several miles through the sea and faced down authorities

Washington — The United States and Israel are planning what would be one of the harshest bombing campaigns to date against energy infrastructure targets in Iran, multiple sources told CBS News, with strikes possible throughout the weekend. There was some discussion about trying to conclude by the time financial markets open Monday because of concern about how the bombings will affect the U.S. and global economy, but an end point wasn't locked in. The Israelis have been notified and are coordinating with the United States, according to multiple U.S. sources. The president has yet to give the final 'go' orders for the strikes, the sources said.

The 25th anniversary of 9/11 is just over a month away, and the families of those murdered in the World Trade Center are making plans for a dignified remembrance of their loved ones on this painful and solemn occasion. There's just one problem: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani insists on being there despite the growing chorus from the families telling him to stay far away. They'd rather not have a practicing Muslim and avowed socialist mar the day that belongs to them and their memories – feelings that are completely understandable. Here's what I wrote about this a few days back in a VIP article:

At the end of May, the New York State Assembly introduced Assembly Bill A11509. The proposal would permanently prohibit anyone born after December 31, 2007, from purchasing tobacco or nicotine products for the rest of their lives. In practice, the State is claiming permanent ownership over the autonomy of part of its population. It is deciding today that these individuals will never be considered capable of making their own choices. The distinction it creates is not based on any assessment of individual responsibility or capacity. It rests solely on an arbitrary date of birth.

Gov. Abigail Spanberger, D-Va., announced that she has restored voting rights to 66,085 Virginians who had prior felony convictions. Virginia’s constitution doesn't allow convicted felons to vote after serving their sentences unless a governor restores their voting rights. “I’m proud that — after contending with my predecessor’s efforts to deny Virginians their fundamental rights — we have restored the rights of more than 66,000 Virginians who have served their time,” Spanberger said in a statement. “These Virginians deserve the right to use their vote, make their voices heard, and be recognized as contributing citizens to our Commonwealth and country.”
