On Tuesday night, the House passed a stopgap measure that calls for the funding of the federal government until December 4th. That's after the midterm elections, which means Republicans could avert a pre-election government shutdown, assuming the measure passes the Senate.
But that is not a done deal, of course, considering Democrats would love nothing better than to instigate another shutdown to try and pin on President Trump and congressional Republicans ahead of November:
But the fate of the measure was deeply uncertain, with Democrats opposed and the Senate G.O.P. leader casting doubt on the chances of quick action in his chamber,

Americans cannot defend the United States without the help of illegal migrants, said Republican Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) on Monday.
Salazar’s comments came as she joined Democrats to tout her “Dignidad” amnesty for at least 15 million illegal aliens, saying:
Let them stay … Let them continue contributing to the number one economy in the world, so we can continue being the number one military in the world. [If] we don’t have the economy, we don’t have the guns, and we cannot defend ourselves.
There is little evidence that the nation’s stock of at least 15 million illegal migrants — or of the 40 million legalized migrants

President Donald Trump declared Tuesday that the United States is “not finished at all” with Iran, warning U.S. forces would strike the regime’s heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain nuclear site “pretty soon” while signaling his administration was prepared to expand military operations rather than return to negotiations.
Trump made the remarks while meeting Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House after being asked about a Wall Street Journal report that Israeli intelligence believes Iran moved thousands of advanced centrifuges into the underground Pickaxe Mountain facility near Natanz last fall.

A circuit court ruled against an activist judge who was trying to prevent the deportation of “Palestinian” pro-Hamas Columbia University student Mohsen Mahdawi, a wacko who has spent over a decade supposedly earning a degree while also engaging in dangerous activism.
One of the major issues with our immigration system now is that foreigners can obtain tourist, student, or work visas that allow them into the country for a temporary period, but some aliens simply use these visas as entrance passes before they stay for decades in the United States. In Mahdawi’s case, he has been living in the United States while agitating for Islamic terror by pretending

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega on Sunday said his country is moving toward not holding a presidential election next year, appearing to maintain his shared control over the country with his co-president and wife, Rosario Murillo.
Ortega said at a government rally marking the 47th anniversary of the Sandinista revolution’s takeover of the country that there “won’t be any more elections here for them to try to seize the government and seize power,” according to a translation of the rally from Reuters.

A software error in New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle System led to about four hundred non-citizens voting several years ago, New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill announced on Tuesday.
The error, which occurred under Governor Phil Murphy, added about 6,600 individuals to voter rolls even though they had indicated that they were not citizens. Sherrill’s announcement comes as Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin alleged that New Jersey had tens of thousands of non-citizens on its voter rolls last week.

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels declared a “maritime embargo” against Saudi Arabia on Monday, marking a sharp departure from the “stay on the sidelines” policy the Houthis have observed since the first round of U.S.-Iran hostilities last summer. This escalation threatens Red Sea shipping routes and an additional challenge to global energy supplies. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree announced the embargo in a televised statement, saying:
The Yemen armed forces affirm their complete readiness for all options and that any foolishness committed by the reckless Saudi enemy through a full-scale escalation, we will confront with a full-scale and harsh escalation by God's will and power.

I've said before that I don't like using the term "progressive" to describe the Democrat Party, its ideology, or its positions. Why? Because it suggests improvement or progress. At the very least, it's a poor euphemism, but it's more deliberately deceptive if you ask me. “By calling itself progressive,” it implies every position it takes is a positive one. Sorry, I can't do that.
CNN’s Van Jones noted this very thing earlier this week. The commentator and former Obama administration official argued that Democratic Socialists of America-aligned candidates and their agenda are "regressive," not “progressive.” Jones warned that the party's drift toward socialism, hostility toward police, and open contempt for Israel

On Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “OutFront,” CNN Senior Political Commentator Van Jones said that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) “stabbed in the back” outgoing Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) for “Chevalier, who has no credentials, except she’s known for having celebrated October 7 murders of Israelis on October 8, and never apologized. … And then no one says anything. Everybody’s quiet.”
Jones said, “I am happy that the young people are fighting for affordability, Medicare for all, all the good things. I’ve been waiting my whole life to see a youth movement do what it’s doing. But it’s being hijacked by people who are putting in nutty ideas,

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) is facing some heat after a video clip from a recent campaign event circulated on X, showing him urging supporters to mobilize a large group of people who were not naturalized citizens during the last election cycle.
In the footage, posted by the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) research account, Ellison addressed a crowd at a campaign event on Monday for progressive Sen. candidate and current Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan (D-MN).
His comments appear to be an admission that Democrats are relying on very newly eligible voters—including recent

A man whom authorities describe as an anti-government extremist set fire Monday morning to the front of New York’s 26 Federal Plaza, which houses several federal agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the FBI.
The suspect, 43-year-old Army veteran Andrew Arrabaca, poured gasoline on the stairs leading to the building’s employee entrance before setting fire to it.//snip//In his post-arrest interview, Arrabaca admitted to targeting the building and said he was willing to hurt — even kill — federal employees and citizens who were by the building at the time of his attack.

President Trump awarded Spain their medals and trophy on Sunday following the team’s stunning victory over Argentina at the World Cup tournament final.
Trump joined FIFA president Giovanni Infantino on the field minutes after Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after a long and difficult game in which both teams struggled to score for long stretches. Take a look: Per tradition, the leader of the host country often awards the winning team its trophy and medals at the conclusion of the World Cup final. Trump did not officially state which team he hoped would be victorious, but he did express his appreciation for Argentina superstar Lionel Messi and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
