After the war in Iran started on February 28, Pope Leo XIV issued “muted appeals for peace and dialogue” for several weeks. However, his tone changed when he delivered a stern homily on March 29, Palm Sunday. He said, “Brothers and sisters, this is our God: Jesus, King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war. He does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them, saying: ‘Even though you make many prayers, I will not listen: your hands are full of blood.”

Unfortunately for Leo, his history of TDS statements and behavior before he was elected as pope are all coming out. He has no credibility in trying to reign back his criticisms now.

NYC has once-in-a-lifetime chance to create
a new Penn Station — maybe with Trump’s help

Thanks to having a hometown builder-in-chief in the White House, New York has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create an iconic landmark in the dingiest part of Midtown that would rival Rockefeller Center, Central Park or the Empire State Building. At the same time, the squalid underground rathole we call Penn Station would become an uplifting experience for the hundreds of thousands of downtrodden commuters who feel disrespected every day when they pass through. But the long-promised Penn Station redevelopment still may end up as a mediocre compromise because of the big stumbling block of Madison Square Garden, which sits right on top of everything,

This past weekend, the self-proclaimed leaders of the global Left gathered in Barcelona to complain about Donald Trump and to declare that they are the real and legitimate representatives of the global masses, as they pushed back against the American president, his policies, and his purported destruction of the post-World War II institutions they profess to respect and cherish. The Global Progressive Mobilization conference, which drew some 6,000 elected representatives and activists from around the world, was organized and hosted by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who has positioned himself as Trump’s chief international critic over the last several weeks.
President Trump Flips the Script—Again! 0 replies

The chattering class has once again been shocked by President Trump’s out-of-the-box actions. For years, we’ve been led to believe in the oft-repeated international consensus among “experts” according to which Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz and has a stranglehold on the world’s hydrocarbon-powered economy. In one fell swoop during an interview with Maria Bartiromo on her Sunday Morning Futures show, the president flipped the script in declaring that the US was going to blockade Iranian oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz (implying that the US would be replacing Iran as the presumptive gatekeeper).

The Strait of Hormuz is fully open to commercial vessels and will remain open indefinitely, President Trump stated Friday. “Iran has just announced that the Strait of Iran is fully open and ready for full passage! Thank you!” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Iran has agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again. It will no longer be used as a weapon against the World!” Trump wrote in a subsequent post. He noted that the “naval blockade will remain in full force and effect” until a final agreement is reached with Tehran. In more good news, the president said that Iran,

Former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron talked about his run for the US Senate on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream. He is running to secure the seat that is held by retiring Senator Mitch McConnell. “On May 19th, Kentucky voters will choose their top Republican contender to replace retiring Senator Mitch McConnell,” Bream said. “Joining me now is another candidate vying for the soon-to-be-vacated Senate seat, former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron,” Bream said. “Let’s work through some of the criticism of your particular race, your position,” Bream said of critics running against Cameron.

Happy Monday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. The Sine Qua Non Sequitur is addressing some post-Coachella legal concerns and will hopefully return tomorrow. A common refrain among conservatives in recent years is that we can't hate the media enough. Back in the summer of 2024, I wrote about my disdain for the "h" word — I try to never use it when speaking or writing — and the fact that the Democrats' flying monkeys in the mainstream media might get me to reintroduce it to my vocabulary. I don't want to let them to get to me, but they're certainly trying.

United States authorities continue to identify Iranian regime assets in the United States as that regime refuses to make any peace deal with the “great Satan” America. The latest arrest is an Iranian who obtained lawful residency here, even though it turns out she was trafficking arms for the murderous mullahs back home. Shamim Mafi became a lawful permanent resident of our country back in 2016, but since our immigration system has long been broken and many foreign criminals and terrorists have slipped through the cracks, it is not entirely shocking to find out she remained loyal —

There was some controversy this week about President Donald Trump being critical of Pope Leo for being weak on crime and his remarks about the U.S. military action in Iran. The pope had made prior comments about immigration and the military action against Iran that were critical of the Trump administration's actions before Trump's remarks. But then the media seemed to be trying to interpret a variety of remarks he made after Trump's criticism as an effort to attack Trump and promote controversy. As we reported earlier, Pope Leo attempted to set the record straight,

This week seems to be rife with journalistic malpractice from outlets either running with leaked and unsubstantiated material that tries and fails to put Trump administration officials in a bad light or works to erode and undermine our nation's institutional bodies of governance. The latest installment from The New York Times involves leaked memos from the United States Supreme Court, verified by more anonymous sources. Amazing how one can fail so spectacularly on this basic tenet of integrity. God help us.Nor should they. As RedState reported in February, Chief Justice Roberts took action to secure the integrity of the court's processes after the 2022 leak —

President Trump announced on Sunday that the U.S. has taken custody of an Iranian ship. "Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named TOUSKA, nearly 900 feet long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to get past our Naval Blockade, and it did not go well for them. The U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer USS SPRUANCE intercepted the TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman, and gave them fair warning to stop," he wrote on social media. "The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engineroom. Right now, U.S. Marines have custody of the vessel.

MINNEAPOLIS — Restaurants across Minneapolis, from longtime neighborhood staples to newer concepts, are facing mounting financial pressure, and for some, the strain has already proven too much. In 2026 alone, well-known establishments like D’Amico and Sons and The Lowry have announced closures after years of serving the community. Industry leaders warn these losses are part of a broader issue. Hospitality Minnesota recently said restaurants statewide are nearing a “breaking point,” pointing to a mix of lingering pandemic recovery challenges, tariffs, immigration enforcement impacts, economic uncertainty, and new state policies such as paid family leave and rising minimum wages. The gunman accused of shooting eight young children dead in Shreveport, Louisiana on Sunday morning has been identified as Shamar Elkins. Elkins, 31, opened fire at a home in Shreveport during a domestic disturbance, former Caddo Parish Constable Patrick Young told the Daily Mail. The suspect, who was fatally shot by police during a vehicle chase, is accused of killing eight children, with the youngest being just 18 months old, the Shreveport Police Department said. He was believed to be the father of some of the victims, police told KSLA. A total of 10 people were shot, with two women surviving the deadly rampage.

At least eight children — ranging in age from one to 14-years-old — were killed early Sunday in what police describe as a sprawling domestic‑violence shooting that stretched across four separate crime scenes in Shreveport. Shreveport Police Corporal Chris Bordelon told reporters officers were first dispatched just after 6 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the 300 block of West 79th Street, where they located the initial scene. As officers canvassed the area, they discovered additional connected locations, including one on Harrison Street, all tied to the same domestic disturbance. Police said at least 10 people were struck by gunfire, with eight pronounced dead at the scene or shortly afterward.

The government of Volodymyr Zelensky in Ukraine has announced plans to increase migration from Africa amid employment shortfalls in the war torn country. While Ukraine has yet to enter the European Union, Kyiv appears intent on mimicking the globalist economic ethos of Brussels and replacing its fallen men with African migrants. The head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov, one of Zelensky’s top advisors, said this week that the government will revise its list of “risky” countries to make it easier for companies in Ukraine to hire from African countries, broadcaster TCH reported. Budanov suggested that this would help businesses facing worker shortages

A great deal of national news coverage concerning Virginia has focused on the attempt by its new Democratic governor, Abigail Spanberger, and her confederates in the General Assembly to circumvent the commonwealth’s constitution in order to radically gerrymander the state’s congressional district map. This maneuver has, however, overshadowed another of their equally dubious legislative actions. A bill proposing that Virginia join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) passed both houses of the General Assembly in February, and Gov. Spanberger signed it into law on April 13.

United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) scored a massive victory this week, finalizing a new contract with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) that will cost the nearly-insolvent district an additional $1.2 billion a year and increase the union's power going forward by expanding the areas in which the union has bargaining rights (AI, subcontracting). The complete fold by LAUSD isn't so surprising, though, given that the district's Acting Superintendent is the brother-in-law of UTLA Secondary Vice President Alex Orozco and UTLA Director Victoria Casas, a relationship that wasn't disclosed.

Despite the best efforts of those who would utilize the preposterous climate change scare to control us and depopulate the world, petroleum still rules world economies. About 80% of all world energy is petro based -- it fuels industrial and agricultural production along with transportation. Constricting supplies causes all prices to rise -- the inflationary effects are well-known (except perhaps to the bright thinkers promoting net zero policies which are tanking their economies and immiserating their citizens). For this reason, foreign policy strategists, media pundits, and governments who listened to them for decades avoided attacking Iran, fearing worldwide disruption of a critical supply.
