have no idea what’s going on with the Maryland General Assembly. But when your own law enforcement disagrees with you on a major Senate Bill, it’s a problem.
In case you missed the news, the assembly earlier this week passed Senate Bill 791. Also known as the Community Trust Act, it essentially prohibits local correctional facilities from taking actions related to immigration enforcement. But what’s worse is that it actually holds back local law enforcement from communicating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and stops any kind of notifications and transfers to ICE without an order or judicial warrant.

New York City continues its tragic decline under the failed stewardship of buffoonish Mayor Zohran Mamdani, as spotlighted by a disturbing video showing three out-of-shape NYPD officers failing to restrain a subway thug.
The incident, which occurred on a subway platform in the Bronx, underscores how Mamdani‘s embrace of anti-meritocratic DEI hiring practices has eroded public safety and emboldened criminals.
The video, which was originally posted on Instagram, was reposted on X on Monday.
“Three NYPD officers are unable to take down one thug at the Tremont Avenue subway stop in NYC,” an X user observed.

A former city official from the border city of Matamoros remains in federal custody after U.S. law enforcement agents arrested him in connection with the attempted smuggling of cocaine in Texas. Since information about the arrest went public, the City of Matamoros has tried to distance itself from the case, claiming that he had stopped working there months before his arrest. The incident first began during the Easter holiday, when Luis Miguel Garduno was driving a late-model GMC Acadia from Brownsville north to Corpus Christi, Texas.

While Americans are told to think of Iran as a distant threat, the arrest of Iranian national Shamim Mafi at Los Angeles International Airport shattered that fiction on April 18.
According to First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, Mafi, a lawful permanent resident living in Woodland Hills, allegedly brokered more than $70.6 million in Iranian-made drones, bombs, bomb fuses, assault weapons, and millions of rounds of ammunition for Sudan. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in federal prison. This is not just a sanctions case. It is a homeland security warning Americans cannot afford to ignore.

Democrats run on “affordability,” spend their early days in power feverishly working to make sure they can never lose again, then rule like Mao.
It’s become clear that despite the deep unpopularity of the Left’s cultural and political agenda, Democrats have no intention of pivoting from peak wokeness. The activist class that the party depends on simply won’t allow it.

Pope Leo XIV on Friday urged young Africans against migrating to the West.
Speaking to students and faculty at the Catholic University of Central Africa in Yaounde, Cameroon, the pontiff urged younger generations to stay and build their own countries rather than seeking opportunities elsewhere.
“In the face of the understandable tendency to migrate, which may lead one to believe that elsewhere a better future may be more easily found, I invite you to respond with an ardent desire to serve your country and to apply the knowledge you are acquiring here to the benefit of your fellow citizens,” he said.

Virginia voters on Tuesday approved a redistricting referendum that will allow the state legislature to redraw its congressional maps outside the normal cycle in a manner expected to favor Democrats.
The Associated Press called the contest in favor of the yes campaign just before 9:00 p.m., with 84% of precincts reporting. As of press time, "yes" stood at just over 50% of the vote.
The state currently has six Democratic members of Congress and five Republicans. The planned Democratic map is expected to produce 10 Democratic-leaning seats and one Republican-leaning seat.

The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that a grand jury indicted the Southern Poverty Law Center for making fraudulent payments of millions of dollars to members of the Ku Klux Klan and other neo-Nazi organizations.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said at a news conference that the 11-count indictment filed in an Alabama federal court alleged the left-wing nonprofit had in the past decade paid at least $3 million to eight members of the far-right groups.
One leader of the 2017 Unite the Right protest in Charlottesville, Va., received roughly $270,000 over an eight-year period. Neither that person nor others were identified in the 14-page indictment.

President Trump extended his cease-fire with Iran Tuesday afternoon — after an American negotiating team led by Vice President JD Vance delayed plans to travel to Pakistan for a second round of peace talks.
“Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“I have therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and,

Employees at top secret government labs have suddenly disappeared without a trace across the US, leaving many questioning how and why it has happened.
The circumstances in certain cases have been eerily similar, with three people who all worked in New Mexico suddenly leaving their houses on foot without taking wallets, IDs or essentials with them. A fourth person, an aerospace engineer in California, disappeared on a hiking trail, feet away from her friends.
One common thread links their work — a retired US Air Force Major General who also left his home on foot on the morning of Feb. 27–

Forget covering protests — some reporters think they should be the ones making the ruckus.
A group of over 250 journalists implored members of the Beltway press corps to “forcefully demonstrate opposition” to President Trump at the ritzy White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday.
Trump, 79, is set to attend the swanky dinner for the first time in his presidency. But the group of 250 reporters is demanding that the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) ensure he doesn’t feel welcome. We believe the White House Correspondents Association should take stronger action by issuing — from the podium —

Thanks to having a hometown builder-in-chief in the White House, New York has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create an iconic landmark in the dingiest part of Midtown that would rival Rockefeller Center, Central Park or the Empire State Building.
At the same time, the squalid underground rathole we call Penn Station would become an uplifting experience for the hundreds of thousands of downtrodden commuters who feel disrespected every day when they pass through.
But the long-promised Penn Station redevelopment still may end up as a mediocre compromise because of the big stumbling block of Madison Square Garden, which sits right on top of everything,
