The IRGC and the civilian government in Iran are at loggerheads, with one group ready to make a deal and the other apparently ready to go down in flames and explosions.
There's plenty of evidence that the President and PM want the war in the rear-view mirror, and are ready to compromise on just about anything. The Islamic Republic is showing a MAJOR internal fracture at the highest levels in real time.
After Araghchi and Trump both claimed the Strait of Hormuz is “open,” IRGC-linked Fars News is now openly questioning officials, warning of confusion inside the country, and demanding explanations for the silence.

I'm not sure what the point of having a government in Britain is anymore.
Because it sure isn't there to protect citizens. It seems to exist mainly to redistribute resources from productive people to criminals, illegal aliens, and friends of Labour politicians. Among the most appalling stories, of which there are many, is the r@pe gangs cover-up, in which all levels of government, from the most local all the way up to the national, looked the other way as "asian" males systematically groomed and raped countless British children for decades.
But the problem is not that the powers that be tolerate crime

Three guesses, and the first two don't count.
The Wall Street Journal raises the question of the Rabid Dog That Was Not Allowed to Bark In DC in its analysis of the ceasefire brokered by Marco Rubio between Israel and Lebanon. Reporters Omar Abdel-Baqui and Dov Lieber concede that the pact engineered by the Secretary of State comes as a "historic step" between the two countries, especially since Lebanon has never recognized Israel's status as a state. However, they wonder just how these negotiations can take place in the absence of "one of the main belligerents":

Hasan Piker is suddenly everywhere. Democrats and Never Trumpers, with a few notable exceptions, see him as the Next Big Thing.
It's all part of the search for the liberal Joe Rogan, as if Joe Rogan weren't the liberal Joe Rogan. What they really are searching for is the Joe Rogan who will spew as much hatred as possible in order to generate clicks and interest in this media-saturated world. Piker has become the hottest new thing in Democratic blathering since Jennifer Welch, who spews the kind of hatred that the AWFLs seem to eat up. NEW: Liberal podcaster Jennifer Welch suggests

The price of oil plunged sharply and U.S. stock indexes opened at new all-time highs after the Iranian foreign minister said that the Strait of Hormuz was open for commercial vessels. "In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran," Seyed Abbas Araghchi wrote in a post on X. U.S. crude oil plunged 12% to nearly $83 per barrel, while international Brent crude also slid more than 11% to around $88 per barrel.

Iran announced that the critical global shipping lane known as the Strait of Hormuz is “completely” open after being mostly closed since the war between the U.S. and Iran broke out earlier this year.
“In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Arahgchi wrote Friday in a post on social platform X.
President Trump reacted enthusiastically to Iran’s announcement, but said the U.S. blockade remains in place.

The same eagle-eyed journalists who were gobsmacked — gobsmacked, I say! — to discover that Joe Biden’s brain was AWOL are now feigning disbelief over the Eric Swalwell sexual assault allegations. Who knew this young, promising, handsome politician, who was elected to Congress in his early 30s and was poised to become California’s next governor, had such a dark side?
Well, apparently everyone: If true, it sets a peculiar timeline: Swalwell joined Congress in 2013. For over a dozen years, he was a powerful member of the political elite. A popular presence on cable TV shows, Swalwell always made time for the mainstream media.

Rep. Eric Swalwell’s sudden political death was no accident, but a strategic hit job by an unethical California Democratic Party and its media enablers. “Swalwell was pushed out for strategic purposes,” says investigative journalist Peter Schweizer.
Call it the law of the jungle. In this case, Swalwell was running strongly in the leadup to California’s June 2 “jungle primary” election for governor, which will eliminate all but the top two vote-getters of either political party who then advance to the November election. With so many Democrat candidates splitting support, Republican Steve Hilton was leading in state polls, so someone had to go.

With the allegations of sexual harassment and assault against now-former Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-14) that have been reported over the last week, we've been asking a lot of questions about Swalwell's bestie, Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ).
As RedState reported, the bromance between the two has been well documented, going back to the days when Gallego was also a member of the House of Representatives and the two were roommates. Swalwell, in fact, called Gallego his "best friend in the world" as recently as November, a characterization the first-term senator seemed to cheerfully embrace.
Swalwell and Gallego are close enough

Conservatives were down in the dumps about Viktor Orbán's loss in the parliamentary election in Hungary.
As Beege wrote last night, perhaps that sentiment was a bit premature, based more on the European Union's desire to replace Orbán than any real reason to worry about his successor, Péter Magyar. Magyar, after all, was not some socialist opponent of Orbán, but until recently his right-hand man.
He defected from Orbán over what appear to be legitimate concerns about massive corruption in the Orbán regime, rather than over policy differences with the political platform of Orbán's party, Fidesz.
The European Union may have made noises about corruption in Hungary, but its real gripe

WASHINGTON – President Trump claimed Thursday that the US and Iran have a “good” chance of finalizing a peace deal in the coming days after the Islamic Republic agreed to two major demands put forward by the White House — and teased that he may go to Pakistan himself to seal the agreement.
“It’s very important that Iran does not have a nuclear weapon, and they’ve agreed to that,” Trump told reporters as he left the White House for a two-day western trip.
“Iran’s agreed to that, and they’ve agreed to it very powerfully.”

Israel and Lebanon have reached a ceasefire, President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social on Thursday, after Israel’s continued bombing of its neighbor emerged as a major sticking point in the U.S.’s talks with Iran over the broader conflict.
“I just had excellent conversations with the Highly Respected President Joseph Aoun, of Lebanon, and Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel,” Trump wrote. ”These two Leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST.”
