It was a big week in the news. Marco Rubio went to Munich and mounted an eloquent defense of Western civilization. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tagged along, and proved herself not very bright for a cocktail waitress. The U.S. armada continued steaming toward Iran with no resolution in sight, and the Supreme Court lowered the boom on President Trump’s tariffs. In New York, the Mamdani era began its inevitable long decline. And much more besides. But as far as memes are concerned, the week was dominated by the Winter Olympics in Italy. Wins over Canada were sweet, and curling gripped the world’s sports audience.

As I am writing this on Ash Wednesday, I decided to take a look at the now mountainous pile of windfarm projects that have been tossed onto the ash heap of Green Energy history…thanks to President Donald Trump and his insistence that American energy sources be dependable, efficient, and as inexpensive as reasonably possible.
Last week, I noted that Now Wyoming’s top land officials moved to rescind the state wind leases underpinning the Pronghorn H2 and Sidewinder projects, effectively putting both projects on a path toward cancellation. It turns out that these projects were being constructed to support another untested and untried technology, and were unpopular with local residents.

Iran has responded to President Trump's vow on Thursday to have a completed deal that shuts down Iran's pathway to nuclear weapons — and no, Obama's nuclear deal did not do this despite what some prominent leftist midwits claim — or shutting down what remains of its program the old-fashioned way within 10 to 15 days saying, “the only solution is diplomatic negotiation.”
Iranian Prime Minister Abbas Araghchi showed a marked lack of situational awareness in an interview on MS NOW where he basically taunted Trump over the claimed lack of success by Operation Midnight Hammer

The best way to understand what the hell just happened is through the lens of the utterly absurd BBC story, “As Trump Retreats From Climate Goals, China Is Becoming a Green Superpower.”
Thirty years ago, headlines described the story. That was their only purpose, because people didn’t purchase stories à la carte; we bought the entire newspaper or magazine. Not so today. Now, writers are paid per-click, which means the headline is also an advertisement.
As the economic model changes, so does the message.
And since most people don’t read beyond the headline, the takeaway for BBC headline-scanners is obvious: China must be the new green superpower. Aw gee, Trump blew it again!

The New York Times covers looming U.S. strikes on Iran:
The rapid buildup of U.S. forces in the Middle East has progressed to the point that President Trump has the option to take military action against Iran as soon as this weekend, administration and Pentagon officials said, leaving the White House with high-stakes choices about pursuing diplomacy or war.
President Trump has been trying to negotiate with the mullahs over Iran’s nuclear program, in search, as always, of a deal.
Mr. Trump has repeatedly demanded that Iran give up its nuclear program, including agreeing not to enrich any more uranium.
That isn’t going to happen with the current Iranian government in charge.

With his voluminous expressions of concern about the treatment of Christians in Israel, one might have expected Tucker Carlson to venture beyond the confines of Ben Gurion Airport to check them out, if not to commisserate with them. However, that was not to be the case. He has yet to meet with Christians in Israel. Most recently, he flew in and out by private jet for an interview with U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee at the airport itself. Huckabee, by the way, invited him to remain in Israel for several days.
Carlson has done his best to turn his airport sojourn into an international incident to Israel’s detriment.

Gavin Newsom hasn’t really been doing much governing in California; rather, he been trashing the United States while overseas, constantly trying to be that annoying gnat in President Donald Trump's ear, weighing in on the matters of other states, and ignoring his own as it continues its slide into decay and corruption.
He is, however, widely rumored to be ramping up a presidential run, and he’s showing every sign that he’s hellbent on mounting a campaign. There's just has one little problem: his record. (X) Click on the tweet for even more; there's that much rotten meat on the bone.

The Obama Presidential Center has taken plenty of heat, mostly because it’s one of the ugliest buildings humanity has ever produced. Soviet architects would be in awe of the brutalist, menacing design of the $850 million ode to the 44th president.
But what some have termed a “Klingon prison” just got weirder and, if possible, less attractive with the addition of a colossal display on its sides with words from the former president’s 2015 speech in Selma, Alabama. It might be inspiring — if you could actually read it: (X) “Not the ideal design.” Well, that’s certainly a contestant for understatement of the year. “I gave up after developing a headache

Democrat Wes Moore's presidential ambitions imploded over the past 10 weeks, but you'd have to be a pretty close student of the Maryland governor to know it, since most of the mainstream press is in cahoots with the aspiring 2028 Democratic presidential cohort.
Our Andrew Kerr has published two blockbuster investigative reports about Moore that undercut key elements of his life story—first, his boasts about being some kind of a "foremost expert" on radical Islam, based on an Oxford University graduate thesis that he can't produce and that the school doesn't have on file in its library, and second, his oft-repeated tale that his great-grandfather was chased out of the country

The Kansas House has drawn a clear line with House Bill 2448. The measure would require every driver's license in the state to list the holder’s citizenship status, with a different design for noncitizens, and it has passed the House over loud objections from Democrats and advocacy groups. Supporters say it is about election integrity and basic clarity in government records, and they are right.
This is not some sweeping crackdown on people who are here legally. Kansas already verifies legal presence when it issues licenses, and noncitizens can receive temporary licenses under current law. What the bill does is close a real administrative gap.

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to offer his condolences and pay tribute to the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. after the Tuesday death of the late civil rights activist and two-time presidential candidate. (Snip) The Reverend Jesse Jackson is Dead at 84. I knew him well, long before becoming President. He was a good man, with lots of personality, grit, and “street smarts.” He was very gregarious - Someone who truly loved people! Despite the fact that I am falsely and consistently called a Racist by the Scoundrels and Lunatics on the Radical Left, Democrats ALL, it was always my pleasure to help Jesse along the way.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez showed in Munich this week, no doubt trying to fluff her "foreign policy credentials" for a potential 2028 presidential run. If you know anything about the socialist congresswoman, it went about as well as you'd expect.
Putting aside the shallowness of American politics, which apparently counts simply saying stuff at a security conference as real-world experience, Ocasio-Cortez clearly had a plan. She'd show up, riff a bit about billionaires, and claim democracy is under threat around the globe. It was supposed to be easy, but you know what they say about plans. (X) That wasn't the worst of it, though. During one session, the congresswoman
