Cleanup on Aisle V (for Venezuela)

The precision strike against Venezuela that led to the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife on criminal charges was without a doubt one of the high points of U.S. military history. And there should be no doubt that the success of the operation redounds to the credit of President Donald J. Trump. No other president in recent memory would have had the guts or imagination to authorize the operation, but Trump has a history of using the military in a surgical manner to take out our enemies (in the case of Qasem Soleimani, the leader of the Iranian Quds Force) or to neutralize global threats

DO run Venezuela. Even if Americans don't want it. Just don't say it.

Who would rule Iran if the Islamic Republic falls? 6 replies

As anti-regime protests continue to spread across Iran and questions swirl about the durability of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s rule, a central question looms: Who would actually take power if the Islamic Republic were to collapse? The answer, according to regional experts and Iranian opposition figures, is far from clear. It may depend less on ideology than on how the regime falls and whether Iran’s security forces fracture or hold. Behnam Ben Taleblu, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said the critical variable is not simply whether the regime collapses, but how it happens.
Exit Tim Walz, stage Biden: Another Democrat

Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) abandoned his ludicrous quest for a third term on Jan. 5. He has angrily refused to resign from office. Whenever he departs, whether upon his resignation some time this year or the expiration of his term early next year, we can say this much with certainty: Like former President Joe Biden, he has become a dispensable inconvenience to Democrats, in this case, Minnesota Democrats facing the 2026 elections at all levels of state government, and, like Biden, he will leave office in disgrace.

The children of Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders are now archaeologists in training.Sanders, her husband and her children made a recent discovery during an archaeological tour of a previously unknown cave in the West Bank, Israeli news agency TPS-IL reported Tuesday. The finds were first announced by the Yesha Council, an umbrella organization for Jewish communities in the West Bank. The cave sits near the community of Na’ela in the Binyamin region. The family was taking a guided tour of the area, which included visiting Shiloh, the ancient biblical capital. The five coins — which may date to the Bar Kokhba Revolt period, between 132 and 135 A.D.

A decade ago, Daniel Di Martino fled Venezuela to escape the socialist regime that had been in place nearly all his life. He was only 17 at the time. Di Martino, who is now a fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a doctoral candidate in economics at Columbia University, saw firsthand how socialism destroyed his once-prosperous country. While he couldn’t be happier about the Trump administration’s recent capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, Di Martino is concerned about the rise of socialist ideas in the United States – including in New York City, where he works, with the election of Mayor Zohran Mamdani, an open democratic socialist.

President Donald Trump announced in an early Friday morning Truth Social post that he has "cancelled the previously expected second Wave of Attacks" against Venezuela in light of the "cooperation" between the foreign nation and the U.S. "Venezuela is releasing large numbers of political prisoners as a sign of 'Seeking Peace.' This is a very important and smart gesture. The U.S.A. and Venezuela are working well together, especially as it pertains to rebuilding, in a much bigger, better, and more modern form, their oil and gas infrastructure. Because of this cooperation, I have cancelled the previously expected second Wave of Attacks, which looks like it will not be needed,

America and the world are safer today thanks to the bold actions of President Trump and his team in Venezuela. Exactly six years to the day after we took out Iranian Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani (an operation I had the privilege to help lead as Secretary of State), the President and his team neutralized another threat to America by capturing Venezuelan dictator and indicted narco-terrorist Nicolas Maduro. Let’s be clear: Maduro is a fugitive of American justice who stole two elections and is not the legitimate ruler of Venezuela; that honor belongs to Edmundo González, the democratic opposition candidate who won the 2024 election.

In an extraordinary military operation, the United States launched a large-scale military operation in Caracas, Venezuela, early Saturday, with Special Forces seizing President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. There is a pending 2020 indictment of Maduro in the Southern District of New York, where he is expected to be taken to face prosecution. The operation comes not long after the 37th anniversary of the capture of Manuel Antonio Noriega on Dec. 20, 1989. Noriega was convicted of drug and money laundering offenses and sentenced to 40 years in prison. He was tried in Miami.

There are few things members of the legacy media hate more than free and “unfettered” conversations, which means there are few things they love more than the censorial European technocrat. Thus, to absolutely no one’s surprise, certain members of the American press have come to the defense of the five Europeans hit last week with visa restrictions by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “Trump administration sanctions five foreigners it considers at odds with American values: Russians? Chinese? Iranians? No, Europeans who fight disinformation and online abuse but stand accused by Trump officials of censorship,” writes New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker.

As the 1992 campaign approached, incumbent president George H.W. Bush was seen as a shoo-in for reelection. The First Gulf War ended in 1991 with a spectacular U.S. victory at the head of a coalition that had expelled Saddam Hussein from Kuwait with few losses. For much of 1991, Bush’s approval ratings hovered between 90 and 70 percent. By February 1992, an obscure Arkansas governor, Bill Clinton, emerged as the favorite Democratic nominee. But he was written off as having little chance to knock off the popular Republican incumbent president with far more foreign affairs experience.

Calvin Coolidge inaugurated two important presidential traditions related to Christmas. In 1923, Coolidge became the first president to light the National Christmas Tree. Then, four years later, he wrote the first official presidential Christmas message to the American people. “President Coolidge and his family helped make Christmas a truly public White House tradition,” the White House Historical Association observes. The first tree lighting attracted more than six thousand people to the Ellipse and drew extensive media coverage. Thanks to burgeoning mass communications—“radio, illustrated magazines, and newsreel coverage”— “the First Family’s celebration of Christmas became a vital part of our national yuletide festivities.”

Once the Nobel Peace Prize is announced, it can’t be revoked, transferred or shared with others, the Norwegian Nobel Institute said in a short statement on Friday. “The decision is final and stands for all time,” it said. The statement comes after Machado said she’d like to give or share the prize with Trump, who oversaw the successful U.S. operation to capture authoritarian Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro. A harrowing eyewitness account from a Venezuelan guard who was on the ground when Operation Absolute Resolve hit — the mission to nab illegitimate then-president Nicolás Maduro — describes an unknown sonic weapon used by the U.S. against his security forces. According to the guard, the sonic blast caused them to experience headaches, disorientation, and vomiting of blood as they were completely incapacitated. But is this report true? Did we unleash some heretofore unknown powerful weapon that literally floored much of the enemy before any shots were even fired? In a Saturday social media post, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt seemed to imply that the answer was “yes.”
