Zohran Mamdani will be the first New York City mayor to be sworn in on a Quran when he takes office at midnight on Jan. 1, officials said. Mamdani, who will be the first Muslim to lead City Hall, will use at least three different sets of Islam’s holy book to take the oath of office during his private and public ceremonies Thursday, his spokesperson said. The far-left pol is expected to use his grandfather’s Quran and one that belonged to black writer and historian Arturo Schomburg, lent by the New York Public Library, during a private midnight ceremony at

"A Somali-run day care is claiming somebody broke in and stole "important documents" as the national spotlight shines on the unfolding multibillion-dollar fraud involving Minnesota human services. Nasrulah Mohamed, manager of Nakomis Daycare Center, told reporters that a suspect entered through the kitchen at the rear of the facility, damaging a wall and breaking into the building's office, sometime Tuesday. He said the alleged prowler stole "important documentation" including children's enrollment information, employee documentation and checkbooks. Mohamed blamed last week's viral video by You Tuber Nick Shirley (snip) Nakomis Day Care Center was not one of the facilities featured in Shirley's video (snip.)

Mali and Burkina Faso have said they are imposing a travel ban on US citizens in response to an equivalent measure announced by the Trump administration earlier this month. In separate statements issued by their foreign ministries late on Tuesday, the two West African countries said they were acting in the name of “reciprocity” after the White House announced on December 16 that President Trump was adding them and five other countries to a list of those subject to a full travel ban.

It might seem that public policy insanity has reached an end in California. After all, what more could the state’s malevolent progressive politics concoct to make it more hostile to business, innovation, enterprise, and hard work than it already is? How about a tax on those who drive the economy? Yes, that should do it.
The Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers West and St. John’s Community Health in Los Angeles have teamed up to concoct the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act, a citizen-initiated statute that might appear on the ballot next November. Should it pass, it would levy a “one-time 5% tax on California billionaires in this emergency

The House Majority Whip has some strong — very strong — thoughts on the current fraud scandal engulfing his state.
There’s just one problem: The message isn’t quite landing the way he’d probably like it to.
Minnesota GOP Rep. Tom Emmer took to X on Monday and absolutely torched the Somali immigrants who’ve been busted in the Gopher State’s ongoing fraud debacle. “I’m calling for the denaturalization and deportation of every Somali engaged in fraud in Minnesota,” Emmer posted, before truly unleashing in a follow-up statement.

Westminster, Colorado, police warned drivers Monday that warming up your car by leaving it running unattended — “puffing” — is illegal under state law and makes vehicles “easy targets” for thieves.
The reminder is part of a broader push by Colorado law enforcement to cut down on cold-weather auto thefts tied to idling cars left unattended in driveways and parking lots. Colorado’s “unattended motor vehicle” statute requires drivers in charge of an unlocked vehicle to stop the engine and remove the key before leaving it, with a limited exception for remote starter systems if the driver takes security measures. “Puffing is also ILLEGAL in Colorado (immobilizing remote start systems excluded)

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy hammered California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) on Tuesday, accusing him of lying about a supposed extension for revoking thousands of commercial driver's licenses (CDLs) issued to non-citizens.
Duffy has long been trying to crack down on the practice of issuing CDLs to truckers who, at times, struggle to understand English or read basic road signs. As common sense would dictate, having such drivers on the road is a dangerous (and sometimes deadly) proposition.
The Secretary's fiery retort follows a report that the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) was granting a 60-day extension to approximately 17,000 non-domiciled CDL holders.

During peak holiday travel, one of the most infectious diseases was detected at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.
A case of measles was identified in a passenger at terminals B & C on Dec. 12, according to a New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) press release.
"Measles symptoms include a high fever, cough, runny nose, watery red eyes, and a rash that usually appears between three and five days after symptoms begin," the release says. The rash usually begins as flat red spots that appear on the face at the hairline and spread downward to the neck, torso, arms, legs and feet."

Every few weeks, like clockwork, another so-called “civil war” breaks out on the right. It’s always framed as some moral emergency, some existential crisis that absolutely must be addressed right here and right now. And almost every time, when you peel back the layers, it’s the same story and the same people causing the divide. No, it’s not some organic grassroots outrage, and it’s never a real scandal. What it is, is power games, political positioning, and people trying to kneecap the parts of the right-wing movement they don’t control: MAGA.

A controversial Minnesota election policy that allows a single registered voter to “vouch” for up to eight people seeking same-day registration is under fire amid the state’s massive fraud scandal tied to the Somali community there. Under Minnesota law, the registered voter must go with the person or people they are vouching for to the polling place and sign an oath verifying their address, according to the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State.

Some of us have been sounding the alarm bells on the following massive fraud scheme that's about to hit Minnesota like a January blizzard. Tim Walz and the Democrats who run the state approved "family leave" legislation that would, ostensibly, give Minnesota workers up to 20 weeks of paid leave for the birth of a child or to care for a spouse, child, or other family member with a serious health condition. But as this writer noted earlier this month, it's fertile ground for another round of billions of dollars of fraud, courtesy the Minnesota taxpayer.

Terrifying footage from a southern Nevada home surveillance video shows the moment a car crashes through a backyard wall, goes airborne and ejects the driver into a private swimming pool.
The incident happened late Dec. 15 in Laughlin, according to FOX 5 Las Vegas. According to police and a crash report seen by the outlet, the driver was allegedly speeding moments before failing to stop and slammed into and through the concrete wall.
Footage also shows the impact sending the white vehicle rotating through the air in the dark.
