With nearly 100 percent of precincts reporting, no candidate reached the threshold needed to be declared the winner after first choice ballots were tallied. Mayor Jacob Frey received nearly 42 percent of first choice votes. His closest challenger, state Sen. Omar Fateh, received nearly 32 percent. Minister DeWayne Davis and business owner Jazz Hampton are farther behind with 14 percent and 10 percent respectively. City officials say tabulation will continue at 9 a.m. Wednesday and into Thursday if necessary. Frey told supporters last night that he’s optimistic about his numbers.

This summer the Pacific Legal Foundation filed a lawsuit to end a scholarship available to University of California Sand Diego (UCSD) students. The group sued on behalf of a student named Kai Peters who was a UCSD student but who was not eligible to apply for the scholarship because he is white. The Black Alumni Scholarship Fund (BASF) awards up to $10,000 to students who maintain a 2.7 GPA and participate in various programs like student mentoring. Kai would gladly participate, but the program is exclusive to black students. He is white, and therefore ineligible.

Sherrill led by 12 points with 90% of ballots counted on Tuesday night after the highest turnout in a Garden State gubernatorial election in over a decade. For a number of years, the BBC’s coverage of climate change and related policy issues has been misinforming the public. It started on Tuesday with a Truth Social post from President Trump about the initiative on the ballot in CA, Proposition 50, which Newsom has made his pet project, pushing for its passage that would terminate the state's independent redistricting commission, allegedly, temporarily. If it passes, the Democrat-run state would be able to break apart predominantly Republican Congressional districts to get five more seats in Congress, further gerrymandering a state that has already been altered to benefit Democrats.

Virginia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger will be the next governor of Virginia and the first female governor of the state after defeating her opponent, Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears (R).The race was called by CNN. Spanberger received 55.1 percent of the vote, or 781,743 votes, while Earle-Sears received 44.7 percent of the vote, or 634,016 votes.Spanberger, a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer, and Earle-Sears, a United States Marine Corps veteran, were vying to replace current Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R), due to the state not allowing governors to serve back-to-back terms.

Voters in Texas seemed poised on Tuesday night to approve a series of tax exemptions and bans as well as new investments in state infrastructure and research. All 17 constitutional amendments on the ballot held majority support Tuesday night, most of which restrict the creation of certain taxes or allow for new tax exemptions. Other amendments would create state investments in water infrastructure, dementia research and technical college funds. Proposition 10 received the largest share of voter support Tuesday night. The amendment would temporarily lower homeowners’ property taxes if their homes are destroyed by fires.

Californians have voted to approve Proposition 50, a redistricting proposal that would add as many as five Democrat-held seats in Congress. Governor Gavin Newsom said the measure would allow the blue state to fight back against President Trump’s agenda and “efforts to undermine the democratic process.” Newsom proposed the redistricting plan in response to redistricting efforts in Texas that favor Republicans. Lone Star State Republicans revised their maps mid-decade, redrawing lines in such a way that Republicans could gain five seats during next year’s midterms.
