Before I begin today's piece, I want to step outside the proverbial box to take a moment and pass out a public "thank you" or two. First, to my BitsBlog following, which if I'm reading the metrics correctly, has followed me here to PJ Media. For 24 years, BitsBlog has been a labor of love. With the help of my good friend Art Smith, I've never commercially capitalized on it. That love causes me to say, it will not be going away. This was an incredible week for news, and I am going to discuss just three of what I consider the most important events: The ongoing investigations and criminal indictments; the shutdown of the government, and the ceasefire and return of the hostages in Gaza.
The Ongoing Criminal Investigations
Letitia James, the New York attorney general who confected a criminal case for financial fraud against President Trump has herself been charged with criminal mortgage frauds. Former head of the FBI James Comey has been indicted by a Virginia grand jury for making a false statement to Congress and obstructing a congressional investigation.

Over at last few years, people on the left have taken exception to the mission of Turning Point USA (TPUSA). Our leftist university campuses in particular have criticized the TPUSA mission, since it advocates conservative and religious values.
Since the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of the organization, attempts to ban the organization have grown exponentially. And if they oppose the plans of TPUSA, they have good reason to be worried about maintaining their leftist agenda:

If we want to humiliate a party stupidly expressing its disapproval of us, we can take a lesson from J.K. Rowling. The Vancouver Parks and Recreation board voted unanimously to apologize for the Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience event set to open on November 7 in Vancouver’s Stanley Park after hearing from members of Vancouver’s 2SLGBTQ+ Advisory Committee.
In the X post below, Ms. Rowling advises the board how to ratchet up the pain. The upshot of her advice is that she could not care less, and yet she has delivered her message with a wit that probably exceeds the board’s capacity for comprehension. The Vancouver Sun helpfully
The shutdown rages, ostensibly, but not many seem to notice. When will it end? I suppose when Chuck Schumer’s polling shows him pulling even with Ocasio-Cortez, now that he has stood up to the dreaded Trump.
In other more significant news, a cease fire finally came to Gaza. It is bittersweet: good to have the remaining hostages returned, bad that Hamas still exists. Whether any of the remaining points of President Trump’s peace plan are ever implemented, remains to be seen. But memesters gave Trump credit for saving the lives that could be saved.
Meanwhile, battles raged in Portland and Chicago. The Democratic Party and its judges came out foursquare for criminality,

On Tuesday, the Minnesota Star Tribune sponsored an event for wealthy liberals at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. It featured JB Pritzker, the Governor of Illinois, and our own Tim Walz. There is a fundamental misconception about what is happening politically in this country, and it may be helpful to reconsider a particular assumption that is creating cognitive dissonance throughout American culture. That assumption is that Democrats are a political party. Consequently, every measure of their behavior seems unexplainable. The assumption is incorrect. They have accelerated their devolution as a political entity over the last decade and have now arrived at a stable, if not entirely American, end state. The leaders, elected officeholders, and members have now been completely subsumed into a Communist Death Cult. The recent past is only a prologue for what is to come.

In a press release posted to X on Thursday, the party wrote that it “unequivocally condemns the racist attacks” by the clerk, which the party noted were directed at members of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Four people were killed and at least 12 others were injured when gunfire erupted in the wake of a Mississippi homecoming football game Friday night, officials said.
The shooting occurred around midnight Saturday on a main street in the small town of Leland, Mayor John Lee told CBS News.
Four of the wounded were airlifted to nearby hospitals, including Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, though officials could not disclose the status of their injuries.
No suspects have been identified or taken into custody.
