Democratic strategist James Carville on Wednesday urged former President Joe Biden to step aside from political discourse, asserting that his continued involvement would harm their party. Biden concluded his presidency on Monday by issuing preemptive pardons to five of his family members and to President Donald Trump’s political opponents. Following a conversation about the pardons, Carville, on “Politics War Room,” criticized Biden’s handling of the final chapter of his presidency, saying the Democratic Party no longer wants to hear from him.

Jaws dropped throughout Washington’s National Cathedral when an egomaniacal female Episcopal bishop sabotaged the Inaugural Prayer Service with a left-wing rant from the pulpit about illegal migrants and LGBT issues, aimed directly at President Trump, who was sitting politely in the front pew.
What the Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, 65, was supposed to do Tuesday, at the historical interfaith service, was to bless the incoming administration and pray for God’s guidance and protection for the nation.
She should have been fostering unity, not exacerbating false divides and making the ceremony all about her.

Three federal judges in Washington, DC, reluctantly dropped the cases of several Jan. 6 rioters who were among the 1,500 protesters President Trump pardoned on his first day in office.
“No pardon can change the tragic truth of what happened on January 6, 2021,” said Judge Tanya Chutkan in a ruling Wednesday dismissing the pending case against, John Banuelos.
Chutkan — an appointee of former President Barack Obama — is the same judge who oversaw the 2020 election interference case against Trump, 78, before it was dropped by the feds when Trump was reelected.
Prosecutors moved for dismissal of the case against Trump since a sitting president receives absolute immunity from federal prosecution.

By now no one should be surprised at President Trump’s sweeping reversals of the conventional wisdom on everything from A (asylum) to W (wilderness access) — sorry, no executive orders affecting anything beginning with Z yet.
But in revoking President Lyndon Johnson’s 1965 Executive Order 11246 that launched our decades-long imposition of de facto racial quotas under the euphemism “affirmative action,” Trump has gone beyond the boldest imagination of any previous administration.
A brief history: When the Civil Rights Act of 1964’s Title VII — the clause banning racial discrimination in hiring — was debated in the Senate, opponents charged it would lead to racial quotas.

As Beege would say, call the WAAHMUBULANCE! According to ABC News, "medical and legal experts" are complaining that The Science™ contradicts President Trump's Executive Order that defines sex as dimorphic rather than open-ended. Trump did a no-no: he asserted that the term "woman" has an actual definition and isn't some vague, undefined thing with changing definitions. (X)
Perhaps, ABC, this is why Americans no longer trust experts.
On his first day back in office on Monday, President Trump issued an executive order declaring that the U.S. government would only recognize a person's sex assigned at birth, limit the definition of a "male" or "female"

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) find themselves in the very awkward position of having to explain how an armed man made it through their security screening process, leaving him free to wander the Capitol with a 9mm handgun tucked into his waistband. Worse yet, this happened a mere 24 hours after Donald Trump took the oath of office in the Capitol Rotunda.
The security breach happened Tuesday afternoon, when a 27-year-old man from Massachusetts was able the clear the security screening area at the south checkpoint of the Capitol Visitors Center despite the magnetometers going off and a pat down being conducted by an officer.

President Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963 in Dallas — with Lee Harvey Oswald, the primary suspect, himself being shot dead two days later by Jack Ruby, spurring lasting debate about a possible conspiracy.

While President Trump is enacting big, bold, audacious plans for America, it might be time to scrap all services at the activist-oriented National Cathedral and start a different tradition in a more welcoming, inclusive place.
It’s no secret that traditional religious denominations in America have long been on a downward spiral, closing their doors for good. It should also come as no surprise that the Episcopal church has been one of the hardest hit groups. One expert on the denomination even said that on its current course, the Episcopal church could disappear by 2050.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is still trying to process her election loss to Donald Trump. And she's seeking counsel from the only source who can vaguely relate to the humiliation — Hillary Clinton.
While the two share the struggle of coming to terms with spectacular defeats in their own rights, it's clear Harris, at least, is still eyeing a political future. Perhaps even the presidency.
On that, there is little surprise. Reports have already surfaced indicating Harris has been actively instructing her advisers and allies to keep her political options open. That includes the possibility of a 2028 presidential run or a bid for the governorship in California in 2026.

What is the Department of Homeland Security going to do without its coloring books?
Senate DOGE Caucus chair Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) has re-upped legislation to cut roughly $2 billion in taxpayer money spent on swag to promote federal agencies.
Expenditures in Ernst’s crosshairs went toward agency mascots, fidget spinners, coloring books, koozies, comic books, and other items the Iowan’s team has called “purely propaganda.”
Ernst’s Stop Wasteful Advertising by the Government (SWAG) Act is inspired by a RebuildLocalNews study that estimated discretionary advertising spending within federal agencies jumped to $1.8 billion in fiscal year 2023, more than double the $778.5 million that had been spent in fiscal year 2018.

There has been a general consensus this week that, in the words of Ronald Reagan, "It's morning in America again." You can almost reach out and touch the hope and optimism Americans have felt since Inauguration Day. It has been a long four years, and for some, there has not been a lot to be hopeful about. But with a new administration often comes the stories of the people behind that administration. Sometimes, it's those personal stories that make a bigger impact than anything that gets done in the Oval Office.

U.S. Marshals have located and detained the suspect in a fatal Illinois hit-and-run in a Texas town south of Dallas.

Authorities learned through investigative leads that Saenz-Suarez was the owner of a red Mitsubishi Outlander who caused the fatal crash, and authorities obtained a warrant for his arrest on Jan. 20, Urbana police said in a Wednesday press release.

Pete Hegseth cleared a procedural hurdle Thursday to advance his confirmation to lead the Defense Department for a final Senate vote, setting up a high-stakes showdown.
A motion to invoke cloture, or begin up to 30 hours of debate, passed 51-49. Republican Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, voted no on advancing Hegseth's confirmation, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., voted yes.
Hegseth’s nomination was dealt another hurdle this week when reports emerged that his ex-sister-in-law alleged Hegseth abused his second wife.

An illegal alien who committed a slew of crimes in the United States was deported right after President Donald Trump assumed office. He wasn’t too happy about it.
Footage of the illegal alien getting taken away was captured by Fox News during a ride along with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
As he was placed in an ICE vehicle, the alien said, “I’m not going back to Haiti.”
“ICE says he’s a gang member with 17 criminal convictions in recent years,” Fox’s Bill Melugin said in the segment.

SEATTLE — A federal district court judge on Thursday temporarily blocked President Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at limiting birthright citizenship — the first skirmish in what promises to be a protracted legal battle over the new administration’s agenda.
Senior U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour heard 25 minutes of arguments and then issued an order from the bench blocking the policy from taking effect for 14 days. There will be a further briefing on a preliminary injunction to permanently block the executive order while the case proceeds. "I’ve been on the bench for over four decades," Coughenour, a Ronald Reagan appointee, said. "I can’t remember another case

Somewhere in the bowels of the CNN Building in Atlanta is a video clip that has been on file since the channel began in 1980. The footage is of a military band performing “Nearer My God To Thee.” The explicit instructions are that this particular tape is not to be released for broadcast “till the end of the world confirmed.”
Morbid perhaps, but Ted Turner can’t be disparaged for thinking of the big picture. His CNN was going on the air with the then-traditional national anthem and would stop for nothing until the apocalypse. This being the dawn of the Eighties it was far easier to imagine the end of history

U.S. civil rights groups are warning that an executive order signed by President Donald Trump on Monday lays the groundwork for reinstatement of a ban on travelers from predominantly Muslim or Arab countries.
The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) said the new order relied on the same statutory authority used to justify Trump's 2017 travel ban and offered even "wider latitude to use ideological exclusion to deny visa requests and remove individuals" who had already entered the country. It unveiled a new 24-hour hotline

The press obsession with January 6th has continued apace despite the total repudiation at the ballot box they received in November. With President Donald Trump pardoning most participants, many of which were unfairly targeted for crimes that never should have been charged, in a court jurisdiction that made sure the game was rigged against them, the hand-wringing has only grown. As I wrote just after Trump emerged victorious against Kamala Harris, Americans simply do not care about January 6th anymore. They have moved on to issues that actually affect their everyday lives, and the continued virtue-signaling about it from the press has become obnoxious and tone-deaf.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski announced Thursday that she will vote against confirming Pete Hegseth to lead the Pentagon, becoming the first Republican to oppose one of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks ahead of a crucial test vote.
Murkowski, of Alaska, said in a lengthy statement that allegations of excessive drinking and aggressive actions toward women, which Hegseth has denied, show that his behaviors “starkly contrast” with what is expected of the U.S. military. She also noted his past statements that women should not fill military combat roles.
“I remain concerned about the message that confirming Mr. Hegseth sends to women currently serving and those aspiring to join,” Murkowski wrote on social media.

Donald Trump might be receiving a lot of attention for being an anti-globalist force, and rightly so. He is the biggest whale in that ocean, but where Trump is an America-first powerhouse, Argentina's Javier Milei is an anti-globalist great white shark, chomping down on anything that resembles globalist control. Milei traveled to Davos in Switzerland as many global leaders did in order to deliver his address on the world stage, and as expected, when he got there, he didn't just let the globalists have it, he called them out for their evils.

United Arab Emirates (AP) — Saudi Arabia’s crown prince said Thursday the kingdom wants to invest $600 billion in the United States over the next four years, comments that came after President Donald Trump earlier put a price tag on returning to the kingdom as his first foreign trip.
Trump’s 2017 trip to Saudi Arabia upended a tradition of U.S. presidents first heading to the United Kingdom as their first trip abroad. It also underscored his administration’s close ties to the rulers of the oil-rich Gulf states as his eponymous real estate company has pursued deals across the region as well.

In any case, someone covering the White House should keep track, because it won’t take long for Trump to beat Biden on this score.
Biden held the fewest number of press conferences of any modern president. He would answer questions only from pre-selected reporters. He had to have a cheat sheet with him at all times to give his answers, and even then the White House would often have to rush out to correct

Monday’s presidential inauguration kicked off a new era — not just in political circles but also in tech, entertainment and fashion.
Just take a look at who actually made it into Donald Trump’s whittled-down swearing-in ceremony. It was filled with tech titans like Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and Apple’s Tim Cook. Even luxury billionaire Bernard Arnault and his family — whose LVMH includes top fashion houses like Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Dior — were there.
Still, this cultural thawing toward Trump will have its limits. Despite Melania Trump stealing the show in that incredible hat by Eric Javits, she’ll never be featured on the cover of Vogue.

“This program has been applied too loosely, allowing noncitizens to live here indefinitely, even after it’s safe for them to return home,” said a statement from Yost, who is weighing a run for Ohio governor. “Congress made these designations temporary for a reason – they were never supposed to last 20-plus years.”

Seven-year-old electric vehicle startup Canoo has filed for bankruptcy and will "cease operations immediately." The company is liquidating its assets in a Chapter 7 proceeding in the Delaware Bankruptcy Court. [SNIP] Canoo is the latest EV startup to go bankrupt after merging with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) as a shortcut to going public. Electric Last Mile Solutions was the first in June 2022. But since then, Fisker, Lordstown Motors, Proterra, Lion Electric, and Arrival all filed for different levels of bankruptcy protection in their various home countries.

Back in the dark times when I actively practiced law – I gave up my partnership on December 31st after 30 years of litigating on behalf of everybody from individuals to Fortune 500 companies – one of the things I spent a lot of my time on was counterintuitive. I spent a lot of time telling people they didn’t have a good lawsuit and shouldn’t bring one because they were going to lose or at least not gain enough to make the litigation nightmare worth living through. After doing that job, you can look at a case and have a pretty good idea of where it will end up.

CNN’s Jim Acosta may no longer be able to showboat during White House press briefings, but this is not stopping him from getting humiliated on national TV.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) appeared as a guest on Acosta’s eponymous show CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta Wednesday to discuss the J6 pardons issued by President Trump on Monday. Unsurprisingly, Acosta was in a foul mood as he sought to force Burchett into condemning Trump for freeing over 1,500 political prisoners held hostage by the Biden regime.
“I just want to ask you if any of these people who were released from prison, if any of them commit crimes in the future,

A Connecticut drug kingpin convicted in the deaths of an 8-year-old boy and his mother was granted clemency by former President Joe Biden — in a stunning 11th-hour move slammed by fellow Democrats.
Adrian Peeler, 48, of Bridgeport, served 25 years in state prison on conspiracy charges in the deaths of Karen Clarke and her 8-year-old son, Leroy “BJ” Brown, in January 1999, CT Mirror reported.
The two had been slated to testify a month later against Peeler’s brother, fellow drug gang leader Russell Peeler, who was on trial for killing Clarke’s boyfriend and rival dealer Rudolf Snead, the Hartford Courant said.
