I haven't had the opportunity to visit Europe yet. The only part of Western Europe I hope and want to visit are the battlefields and ossuaries of the Word War I. Forget the UK. But now I am thinking Eastern Europe might be the place to visit. I've heard and seen some travel shows on Bulgaria, etc.

There's a tourist charge to enter Venice as well. Idiots complain about the vast number of them during the summer months yet carp about the loss of tourism revenue. We go down during the off season for a variety of reasons. GB can keep their fees, who want's to go there now? Ciao, jc

Apologies for the second bite... it occurs to me that the wife has to pay for an ESTA prior to visiting the US. Done via the net and good for 2 years. IIRC less than 20 USD. She's Italian. Ciao, jc

Does this mean I won't be required to travel to England? Hot diggity dawg, what a staggering coincidence -- I've hoped all my 60-plus years never to be there, anyway.

Well, I was thinking of visiting England in the near future, but if I need permission to visit, then it's not worth the hassle filling out the paperwork that will be required to do so. Besides, they will find out such a stupid law will ruin their tourist industry. So, let the countdown begin on the elimination of that law in the very near future.

They are asking people to pay a "fee" or tax to witness the sun setting on the British Empire. If I want to see dangerous, depressing, crime ridden urban areas I can see that right here in America - for free.

Dumb question: Isn't this the same as a passport? I don't travel much. Guess a passport is just a onetime charge. This is for every visit. Btw, what is the UK's debt? Sounds like they are hard up for more revenue.

If the UK is behind it, its certainly meant to keep their legitimate citizens down, stomp what little freedom they have left, and boost 3rd world invaders. Nothing good will happen to everyday brits and they will be jailed if they complain about it.

I like the British born citizens, but because they live in a country run by idiots that have destroyed anything good about the UK I have NO desire to ever visit.

What a shame that this once-noble kingdom has fallen into darkness. The history of the UK is fascinating and unique to the Celtic and Viking influences…probably to its now detriment in the world of DEI. I had always hoped to get back to my beloved Scotland, where men (at one time) were indeed men. We live in terrible times.

I’ve always favored reciprocity. How about for every English person or Irish person that visits the United States pays the United States $13?

A-we need to impose the same rules on the Brits. B-I hope this destroys their tourism industry as people will have ugly surprises upon arrival.
