Alaska Republican drops out of three-way
House race, dealing surprise blow to Democrats nationally

In what may be a surprise blow to Democrats' chances of holding a key red state seat in the U.S. House, Alaska Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom announced Friday she is suspending her campaign for Congress. Dahlstrom was in what was essentially a three-way race with incumbent Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola and Republican Nick Begich III, who comes from a prominent political family in The Last Frontier. (Snip) Though the two GOP candidates garnered more votes than Peltola, she was named the winner after the hierarchical rounds of ranked choice vote tallying concluded. Under the system, the lowest vote-getter is eliminated

Comments:

Although she was a good candidate the Dems have been winning this seat using the crooked Rank Choice gimmick. Now with only 1 Republican in the race the Democrat will almost certainly be vanquished in Nov.

Ranked choice voting is a really bad idea. Democrats figure they can exploit this to always keep GOP candidates out of office. At least someone has found a way to thwart that this time.

She was smart enough to know that not only would she lose, the seat would go to a Dem. She put her ego aside and dropped out for the greater good. Trump should hire her when he wins in November.

The Left is trying to get Rank Choice voting in Idaho. Voters in Idaho will decide in November if they want this. We're praying voters will see through this deception. CA years ago was lost because of this type of voting.

A California baseball stadium featured in the Hollywood blockbuster “A League of Their Own” was destroyed by a fire late Thursday, officials said. The Jay Littleton Ballpark, in Ontario, California, went up in flames about 11:30 p.m. and is a “a total loss,” city spokesperson Dan Bell said. The cause of the fire is not known, but investigators are on scene, he said Friday, adding that the stadium’s grandstand was wooden and likely burned very quickly. Losing the ballpark, which was designated a historic landmark in the city in 2003 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in

US job growth during much of the past year was significantly weaker than initially estimated, according to new data released Wednesday. The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ preliminary annual benchmark review of employment data suggests that there were 818,000 fewer jobs in March of this year than were initially reported. Every year, the BLS conducts a revision to the data from its monthly survey of businesses’ payrolls, then benchmarks the March employment level to those measured by the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages program. The preliminary data marks the largest downward revision since 2009 and shows that the labor market

A financial analyst I follow on Twitter/X, Robert Sterling, says everyone should calm down about Kamala’s grocery price controls idea. It’s actually worse than you think. Here’s his expectation from his Twitter column: People need to stop overreacting about Kamala’s plan to reduce food inflation, as if it would lead to communism, mass starvation, and the end of America. I worked in M&A in the food industry. Here’s a step-by-step summary of what would actually happen: 1. The government announces that grocery retailers aren’t allowed to raise prices. 2. Grocery stores, which operate on 1-2% net margins, can’t survive if
