Former and potentially future President Donald Trump was shot at his rally in Butler County in Pennsylvania on Saturday night, an incident that could have been much worse had Trump turned his head a different way. Secret Service agents quickly sprang into action to escort him off of the stage and to safety. In light of such serious news, it's worth reminding that Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who was chairman of the January 6 Select Committee, just months ago introduced legislation to deny presidents who were convicted of felonies. Trump was ultimately convicted of 34 charges in New York City on May 30.

Ruth Westheimer, the superstar sex therapist known to millions as “Dr. Ruth”, has died aged 96.
Westheimer died Friday at her home in Manhattan, her publicist Pierre Lehu confirmed. No cause of death was announced.
For more than four decades, the beloved doc dished advice on orgasms, masturbation and fantasies, helping to de-stigmatize sex for generations of Americans.
Well into her nineties, the beloved therapist was still touting the benefits of making love.
“Understand, this country of ours is more sexually active than before,” she told The Post’s Cindy Adams in 2021. “Sex is no sin.”
Just last year, Westheimer was appointed New York state’s honorary ambassador to loneliness by Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Joe Biden is here to stay. Despite significant forces among the Democratic Party who want him gone, the institution remains durable, the power of the bully pulpit supreme, and even with a mentally declining man, he has the votes and the power to stay. The anti-Biden forces have been all talk, no action for the most part. Barack Obama reportedly works behind the scenes, but even he knows the implications if he pushes too hard, exposing himself at the American Brutus. The consensus of most in the Democratic Party is that either Joe must go, or they’ll be OK with an alternative candidate, which is essentially the same thing

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said Friday she will not be casting her ballot for former President Donald Trump in November.
Instead, the Republican senator told reporters she plans to write in former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.
“I publicly endorsed Nikki Haley, and I wanted her to win. She’s still my favorite candidate, and I think she could do a great job. She’s my choice, and that’s how I’m going to express it,” Collins told WMTW-TV. [Tweet, video]

The number of Democrats willing to go on record calling on Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race is growing. Donors are withholding millions of dollars in donations, and Democratic voters are feeling increasingly dejected. While only a handful of elected Democrats are calling on Biden to drop out or have expressed concern about him, plenty more haven't yet gone public. Now their concern isn't limited to Biden's likely defeat; they're worried about the impact on down-ballot races and the possibility that Donald Trump could win the election in November and get majorities in both the House and Senate.

President Joe Biden faced a pivotal moment as he held his first press conference after his disastrous debate performance on Thursday.
Biden spoke to reporters on the final day of a NATO summit the president was hosting in Washington as he faces mounting pressure to drop out of the 2024 race.
The presser got off to a bad start when Biden didn't take the stage until a whole hour after it was scheduled.
Democrats held their breath to see if Biden could successfully speak in front of cameras. Following the debate, the 81-year-old president claimed he was having a “bad night;”

California fast food franchise owners are being forced to cut their employees’ hours following Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) $20 minimum wage law, which went into effect in April.
Lawrence Cheng, whose family owns several Wendy’s restaurants in southern California, has had to fill in behind the register to make up for the dramatic cuts, he told the Associated Press.
While he used to have “nearly a dozen employees” working the afternoon shift at his Fountain Valley location, he is reportedly down to just seven per shift.
“We kind of just cut where we can,” Cheng told the outlet. “I schedule one less person,

Former First Lady Melania Trump made what was reported to be her second solo appearance in support of husband Donald Trump’s presidential bid.
Looking as elegant as ever, Melania hosted a fundraiser for the LGBTQ group known as the Log Cabin Republicans in the former president’s penthouse at Trump Tower.
In covering the event, Page Six referred to Mrs. Trump as the “former — and possibly future — first lady,” while reporting that she “stunned all in attendance.” Citing “a spy,” the outlet said Melania was wearing a “fire engine red Valentino dress with appliqué flowers in the same fabric and Christian Louboutin pumps.”

Hurricane management allegedly prompted a partisan hoax readily batted down by Texan leaders: “Mr. President, as you like to say, ‘C’mon, man!'”
No low was evidently too low for President Joe Biden and his allies as he suffered one of the worst political weeks of his decades-long career. In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, which left nearly 2 million Texans without power amid dangerously high temperatures, the choice between leadership and scoring “political points” had the resident-in-chief evidently opting for the latter.
Taking to X Wednesday morning, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) released a statement aimed at exposing a claim made by Biden in an interview with the Houston Chronicle.

With each passing day, you learn something new, something that just reinforces what so many in conservative media and beyond have said about Joe Biden's mental acuity for four years now but were told they were being rude, resorting to gutter politics, and Orange Man Bad so shut up.
Over the last few days alone, we've learned some reporters have to use translation devices to be able to hear Biden when he starts mumbling. We've also found out that tensions between the Obama-Biden camps have only been made worse since the debate. And Clintonista/ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos, who interviewed Biden a week after the debate,
