There’s just something very sketchy about this public release of information from Judge Merchan in New York City. Merchan doesn’t have an integrity bone and the comment he is bringing attention toward is innocuous and random. However, Merchan could be trying to get Trump to violate the gag order aspect and talk about jurors; thereby making the sentencing worse.
According to information Merchan is providing the lawyers in the Trump case, a comment was made on the court’s FaceBook page indicating one of the jurors said the Trump guilty verdict was predetermined.

I also remain skeptical. If there's an evil path, these people are going to take it. This moment of honest sharing of information seems off brand for this judge. They revel in chaos. This certainly has created confusion. Keep praying, America.

What I fear is that they want this to be dismissed...so they can begin the process all over again, ting Trump up in court for another few months.

I agree with #2. It may be true, however its just one way to set up another trial. All of the other "trials" are being dismissed or suspended. The dems need something to keep Trump tied up. They cannot have him out there discussing what his plans are for America. Having the comparison between Trump and Biden is devasting enough to Biden.

People can't help being skeptical, but I wouldn't put it past a Trump hating juror to brag about voting to convict to relatives and friends. If this is true then this juror should be held in contempt or worse, and if that biased judge wants to retry this, there is no doubt it will be overturned. He already made many bad rulings denying Trump his rights, this is just one more reason to throw it out!

I honestly thought this type of thing was going to come up an hour after the verdict got released. Leftists will be Leftists -- lying, rule-breaking, churlish, snarky Leftists.

I would not accept any act of so-called benevolence from the left, anymore than the proverbial frog with the scorpion. The left does nothing outside of its own self-interest.

Merchan did his job and knows he is toast. Now he is trying to cover his arse. I'm not sure Trump should even deign to reappear in Merchan's court should a mistrial be declared.

The Fakebook post was made 8 days before Merchan sent his letter. That’s plenty of time to find out about it and track down the juror who just had to toot his own horn about “getting Trump”. Merchan is playing CYA.

Keeping it simple: (1) does that poster really have a cousin on the jury? I could claim to have a cousin on the jury. (2) The posting was on the NY court system's Facebook site, which I would not believe would be used widely by the general public. So it may well be that the Jugg Merchant already has insight into the fact that the poster did have a cousin on the jury. (2) The simple answer as to why The Jugg Merchant is informing counsel is that it would probably be a crime for an officer of the court not to report the incident. A poster responding to the original poster already advised the poster of the crime stated in the original posting. It's like Big Bidet's aids finding classified documents is his garage: if you don't report it, you could go to jail, if you do you've ticked off the demented vegetable; so you report it. So in full cover your backside mode, this information moved through some circuit to the Jugg probably with some investigation into the identity of the original poster along the way. So it comes to us with more provenance than just some random post somewhere looking for clickbait. I could persuade myself that the Jugg already knows it's real in the sense that the poster really does have a cousin on the jury.
(3) If so, the next step would be to have a hearing to determine if the juror really did make such a statement to the poster or was the poster making stuff up about his cousin?
(4) I presume that there are grounds to nullify the jury findings as a result of this sort of thing.

I thought that was the goal of the judge and prosecutor?

This is news? It was a pre-determined guilty verdict before the jury was even seated

Since a mistrial helps the prosecution more than the defense, I think the Dems have moved on to Plan B, since Plan A failed miserably. Unfortunately, this may derail any intervention from the Supreme Court.
