Bill introduced to improve air quality

D.C. — A bipartisan group of House members in Congress has introduced legislation aimed at improving air quality on planes, called the Safe Air on Airplanes Act. Airplane cabins require pressurization to have enough oxygen while flying, but flight attendants and the unions that represent them say most current systems are putting passengers and flight crews at risk when it comes to their health. "External air is drawn in from the engines, compressed warm, and then pumped in to the pressurized aircraft cabin. This is called bleed air. Believe it or not, this bleed air is not filtered, and oil and fuel can leak and become vaporized.

Fuel is injected in the combustor, after the compressor. Physics do not provide for fuel to upstream bleed into the compressor air bleed..the article is misrepresentative. There may be traces of oil in the bleed air (as there would be in any mechanically pressurized air). So we will have suits, legal payoffs, and ticket price increases, regardless of validity.

Another solution in search of a problem, thus easier to address than the REAL problems facing the country. Bleed air comes off the compressor section of the engine, well before the combustion section. Cabin air in a modern jetliner is replaced about every three minutes. The air in the cabin is probably less polluted than the air in your house. I flew for a major airline for 16 years and never heard any crewmember complain about the cabin air.

Re #5. A family member is a recently retired professional test pilot. He tells me that for the last few years at the Society of Experimental Test Pilot annual dinners, where papers are presented, there have been multiple papers on experiments with electric aircraft. Aside from the obvious joke for range, he pointed out that one of the key design features of ANY electric aircraft is a provision for ejecting the batteries if (when?) they catch fire. Of course, after ejecting the battery of an already very short range electric aircraft, the range will suddenly get a LOT shorter. Test pilots will test anything. But the clowns who are funding these tests are complete fools.....but it's probably 100% taxpayer funds, so what the hell, waste as much as the idiots will give you, right?

It’s still about five months until the election, but it’s pretty clear that Donald Trump has become – impossible as it might have seemed last year – the favorite to win. We must plan the battles that lie ahead now. This first column talks about what happens immediately after we win. Part 2 talks about what Trump needs to do during his first days in office to set the stage for the total destruction of the Democrats’ dreams. We have to prepare for success. The great Townhall senior columnist Derek Hunter warns that you should not spike the football anywhere but the endzone, but this time,

Are we soon to witness 1968 all over again, where violence wracked the Chicago Democratic National Convention in the lead-up to the November presidential vote? Many pundits have predicted exactly that, taking into account the George Floyd riots in the summer of 2020 and the ongoing pro-Hamas demonstrations roiling campuses across the nation. RedState’s Andrew Malcolm and Ward Clark have both delved into the issue before: But let’s examine some numbers to get a better sense of the chances of chaos overtaking the Second City when Democrats meet there in late August to formally certify the decrepit incumbent President Joe Biden as their standard-bearer for the ’24 election.

President Joe Biden is blaming record-setting levels of illegal immigration to the United States on congressional Republicans, suggesting they are standing in the way of “border enforcement.” On Thursday, a bill to expand legal immigration while permitting tens of thousands of migrant encounters along the U.S.-Mexico border failed in the Senate by a 43-50 vote. The bill would have, among other things, increased annual green card admissions by 50,000, expedited work permits for migrants released into the U.S. interior, and allowed some 35,000 migrant encounters at the border before the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) could enforce border controls.

Trump often refers to his supporters who ramsacked the Capitol by that term. 'Black police officers, black veterans, protecting the Capitol were called another word as you recall,' Biden continued. The Libertarian Party on Sunday nominated party activist Chase Oliver for president, rejecting former President Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after they each spoke at the party’s convention. Third parties have rarely been competitive in U.S. presidential elections and the Libertarian candidate four years ago won 1% of the vote. But the party’s decision is getting more attention this year due to the rematch between Trump and Democratic President Joe Biden, which could hinge again on small vote margins in a handful of contested states. “We did it! I am officially the presidential nominee,” Oliver posted Sunday on X, formerly Twitter. “It’s time to unify and move forward for liberty.”
