An Oklahoma-based missionary group working in Haiti’s capital was attacked by gangs on Thursday night, leaving two Americans and the group’s director dead, the organization, Missions in Haiti, announced on Facebook. Missions in Haiti runs a school for 450 children, as well as two churches and a children’s home in the Bon Repos neighborhood in the northern outskirts of Port-au-Prince, which is widely known to be controlled by two local gangs. The independent nonprofit was founded by an Oklahoma couple, David and Alicia Lloyd, in 2000.

Why would any sane person still be in Haiti? If you absolutely have to have the experience, you can get it in New York City or San Francisco or Chicago or Baltimore or Detroit.

It is impossible to help people who don't want to be helped. 2 local gangs are running Haiti and that is what they want. Yes I know, many people say no one wants to live like this, but gang rule in America's own cities pay the lie to that notion.

If it were up to me Haiti would get $0 and no help of any kind.AND all Haitians in this country would get an express ticket back to their home country. They are a blight.

A few years ago the church down the road sent its teenagers, mostly very pretty girls, to East St. Louis to do missionary work and "help" the ghetto dwellers. These people are flat out nuts.

I looked at their website. I'm sure they did some good work. But they have a message about how dangerous Haiti had become. The statement said their area was controlled by a ''nicer gang''.

Jesus was a missionary in a sense. The eternally begotten Son of God became a human in this world. He ministered to the poor and needy. He told the truth about the authorities. The powers that be slaughtered him. So … don’t criticize these missionaries’ desire to do good in a rotten place.

Missionary work has always had some level of danger. There is always someone who is profiting from the status quo and doesn't want it to change.

A New Hampshire woman and her child were kidnapped while working for a Christian nonprofit in Haiti — the country that has been the woman’s home for years. Alix Dorsainvil and her daughter were kidnapped Thursday morning from El Roi Haiti Outreach International’s campus near Port au Prince while serving in their community ministry, the nonprofit’s website states. She has been a nurse for the school, according to a video on the website. But she also provides services for the community.

A DEI-fixated dean at UCLA's world-famous medical school has allowed standards to plummet by discriminating against white and Asian applicants, it is claimed. The David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles boasts Nobel Prize winners on its faculty and accepts just 173 students out of the 14,000 who apply to it each year. But it has plunged from sixth to 18th place in the rankings since the appointment of Jennifer Lucerno as dean of admissions in June 2020 amid claims that the admissions bar for underrepresented minorities is now 'as low as you could possibly imagine'.

A spokesman for the German government said on May 23 that Germany would “of course” arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant if the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for the two officials. Earlier this week, the ICC’s prosecutor, Karim Khan, accused Mr. Netanyahu, Mr. Gallant, and three Hamas leaders—Yehya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif, and Ismail Haniyeh—of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip and Israel after the conflict erupted between the two in October 2023. When asked on May 23 by reporters whether the German government would execute an ICC warrant for Mr. Netanyahu’s and Mr. Gallant’s arrests, Steffen Hebestreit,

The U.N.'s top court, the International Court of Justice, on Friday ordered Israel to cease its military offensive in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip, citing concerns over the safety of Palestinian civilians. "Israel must immediately halt its military offensive and any other action in the Rafah governorate which may inflict on the Palestinian group in Gaza conditions of life that could bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part," ICJ President Nawaf Salam said. The court noted that conditions in Rafah had deteriorated further since the ICJ's last ruling in March, and that the provisional measures that the ICJ instructed at the time

MINNEAPOLIS - When George Floyd died at the hands of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on Memorial Day in 2020, his death prompted protests and calls for change. Now, four years later, his memory is still a cause for people to take action. "We can never forget. We can never stop talking about George Floyd. We can never unsee what we saw in 2020," said Leslie E. Redmond, Executive Director of the nonprofit Win Back. Win Back organized its first annual Day Of Remembrance for George Floyd Friday. It started with an interfaith prayer service at city hall and continued

Via The Defender (emphasis added): Federal health officials are ramping up efforts to combat what they claim is the growing threat of H5N1 bird flu with plans to produce 4.8 million vaccine doses and increase influenza surveillance nationwide.

Former President Donald Trump's rally is on in the South Bronx, and it's driving the Democrats crazy that so many people have come out to hear him in the deep blue area. Maybe it isn't so "deep blue" after all when you see the number of people coming out to see him. It was driving Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) mad to have it right in her backyard; her district is nearby. She threw a fit about it, trying to say he was there because he had to be in New York for the ridiculous lawfare against him, not realizing what she was essentially admitting about election interference.

How might we change the premise of Social Security to make it fully funded, more equitable, and sustainable indefinitely? Social Security is societal insurance, not an individual retirement plan. It’s intended to protect individuals against income loss due to retirement, disability, or death. It supports disabled individuals, survivors, and children and reduces poverty. Social Security protects taxpayers across American society. Without Social Security, millions would face poverty, straining families and state and local governments, increasing inequality, and destabilizing the economy.

California’s crime-friendly environment has led to numerous Legal Insurrection reports of smash-and-grab robberies, Beverly Hills becoming a ghost town, piracy in Oakland Bay, and a constant stream of organized retail theft. (snip) The California Senate recently passed SB 961, a measure which would require “passive speed limiters” to be installed in all new cars manufactured or sold in the Golden State by 2032. The motion, introduced by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), would make California the first state in the nation to enact the safety requirement, which is similar to a law in the European Union that is set to take effect in July.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is a “threat to our democracy” and maybe even the clearly biased “prince of darkness” who has sympathized with insurrectionists and publicly advocated for the “movement to overturn a lawful election.” Those are just some of the claims by elected Democrats and left-wing activists who have jumped at the opportunity this week to dress down Alito, to run down the court’s legitimacy, and to call for the justice’s recusal from a couple of January 6-related cases. The chorus of voices calling for Alito’s recusal has grown in response to recent New York Times

CNN's Ana Navarro has criticized fellow Latinos who support Donald Trump, labeling their attitudes towards immigration as 'very stupid.' Navarro suggested that some Latino immigrants seem to forget their own roots and mistakenly believe that being anti-immigrant will help them assimilate better into American society. Speaking on CNN on Friday night, the anti-Trump Republican expressed her frustration with such a mindset, saying it only serves to highlight how it contributes to a divisive atmosphere.
