WASHINGTON – Sen. Bernie Sanders, the 82-year-old self-described democratic socialist from Vermont, announced Monday that he plans to seek another term in the U.S. Senate. In a video statement posted to X, formerly Twitter, Sanders said he would be "in a strong position to provide the kind of help that Vermonters need in these difficult times," noting his high-level role in multiple committees and in the Senate's Democratic leadership. "In many ways, this 2024 election is the most consequential election in our lifetimes," he said, not directly referencing President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump but adding: "Will the United

My response is same as #1. We the people have an assortment of Senators both sides of aisle that we stupidly keep in as old as Bernie! They laugh all the way to the bank and so do their families. The staff, the system that protects sitting establishment Uniparty sees to it we never find out how slow mentally, unable physically to do the job. Unelected staff do things the Senator/Congressperson should be doing. We have the best House and Senate money can buy.

The size of the crowd at Donald Trump's latest rally has come under scrutiny with people giving varied accounts about the number of people who attended it. Trump, the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party's presidential nomination, held a large rally in a Democratic borough of New York City on Thursday to drum up support ahead of November's presidential election. He told supporters at Crotona Park, South Bronx, of his potential plans for the city if he is elected to the White House. The rally had a permit for 3,500 people, according to the New York Times which cited the

MINNEAPOLIS - When George Floyd died at the hands of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on Memorial Day in 2020, his death prompted protests and calls for change. Now, four years later, his memory is still a cause for people to take action. "We can never forget. We can never stop talking about George Floyd. We can never unsee what we saw in 2020," said Leslie E. Redmond, Executive Director of the nonprofit Win Back. Win Back organized its first annual Day Of Remembrance for George Floyd Friday. National Democrats are deep into the planning for the convention in Chicago to be held in August. Biden's planning team is looking wistfully at the 2020 COVID convention when most events were virtual and the chances for disruption were greatly reduced. They are looking for ways to duplicate some of those events, like the pre-recorded roll call vote where individuals representing state delegations got creative and made their video vote an advertisement for their state. One big change being considered is a move to an alternate convention site for the actual nomination. Since Biden is having trouble getting on the

American men are opting out of the workforce at unforeseen rates. For many, it's not an issue of not being able to find a job. They have simply opted out altogether. The Bureau of Labor Statistics found only 89 percent of working age men have a job or are actively looking for work. In 1950, that number was at 97 percent. While the early 1950s saw around 96 percent of working age American men between the ages of 25 and 54 working full or part-time jobs, that proportion has now moved to just 86 percent, according to the Bureau of

Social Security protects taxpayers across American society. Without Social Security, millions would face poverty, straining families and state and local governments, increasing inequality, and destabilizing the economy.
