The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) has many demands in their latest salvo in negotiating a new contract with the public schools system.
While the union’s demands have not been made public, Fox News reports a leaked document “sheds light on the eye-popping demands.”
The $50 billion they are asking for includes a 9% wage hike, fully paid abortions for its members, new migrant services and facilities, and a myriad of LGBT-related requirements.
According to Fox News, the total base tax receipts for the state of Illinois last year were $50.7 billion.

"Union President Stacy Davis Gates’ audacious plan calls for members to bank at least 9% wage increases each year through fiscal year 2028."
"Gates’ plan also calls for teachers and counselors to be paid a stipend of $1,000 per student per semester when they are assigned a number of students above contractual limits and a retirement bonus of $2,500 for employees with more than 30 years of service."
"But the union also wants more taxpayers' funds to go to migrants in its far-reaching plan – earmarking $2,000 to be given to each migrant to help with academics, transportation and mental health counseling."
"Additionally, it wants the board to adopt policies that would prohibit any member from being compelled to tell parents when a student rejects his or her sex, according to the documents"
Oh, one other thing...........
"Last school year, the district spent more than $21,000 per student, far above the national average of $14,347, according to census data."
That is all for today.

“Education”, at every level, holds our children and young adults as hostages. It is a racket.

Lower standards? You can't go much lower than stupid unless it is stupid plus. IQs in negative numbers perhaps. Who in the hell do they think they are? I was in education, my husband was in education, my son is in education. This kind of nonsense has to end. America is on the brink of being taken over lock stock and barrel. Will someone please call these fools out? None of these so called demands has a damn thing to do with education. What is happening to our country?

You want, you want, you want? Show some positive results in your students' learning and maybe you won't get what you deserve, which is to get fired.

How about NO PAY until one half of the students can do grade level Reading and Math. Then deduct pay for the half that fail. If you have a blackboard and chalk and your students cannot read or write, how DARE you call yourself a teacher.

50 billion? With a "B"? Hey, let's just skip the pay raise and keep the status quo. Maybe in the future they are more amenable to reasonable demands.

Maybe Chicago should outsource their schools to a company that focuses on the kids and not the teachers benefits.

Eventually the law of economics will catch up with this sort of outrageous demand. Then they will scream for a federal bailout that we have to pay for.

Too bad that Chicago is flat broke and in debt. Maybe they could defund the police to make up the difference? Then the teachers could demand combat pay on top of their other silly pipe dreams.
