Presidential elections can be put into three categories: stay the course, turn the page and transformation. In 2004, President George W. Bush was prosecuting the War on Terror and Americans choose to stay the course. In 2008, voters wanted a change in course and enough voters saw then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) as transformational to elect him.
In 2012, President Obama simply ran a better campaign than Mitt Romney and voters decided to stay the course. In 2016, Donald Trump became the voice of middle-class angst and won a surprising victory that transformed the Republican Party. In 2020, voters wanted to lower the volume

Colonel Potter would say “Horse Puckey”. I agree, drivel and projecting…

When the difference between victory and defeat is rarely more than a few points either way, it is pretty pointless to declare what voters want or are thinking. Voters are doing what they always do, without thinking.

The article seems to be a realistic projection of the next four years. I think the country is lost to a conglomeration of unknown persons who could care less about what's best for the citizens; anyway, they're getting new citizens who are more like chattel and thus more easily managed.
It's hard to believe that the Dims almost control the House. God only knows what the local voting systems really look like in the totally corrupted states. The conglomeration has the DoJ, the CIA, and the military. And who knows what else. I know senior citizens who really believe that Trump must be stopped.
Trump being cast into prison seems nearly unavoidable. There are still many voters who hate his guts. Obviously a huge swath of the media does.
Absent a landslide they keep on doing what's been working for them. And even with a landslide, they just regroup- there will probably not be another talent like Trump for a long time.

We cannot afford - and likely will not survive - leaving the Executive in the hands of Joe Biden and his controllers.

This author is a complete idiot.
He can’t see that dealing with the adversity of doing the right thing (Trump being elected), is better than doing the wrong thing.
(Biden’s policies).

The author has a valid point. Without the support of a loyal party, entrenched judges, bureaucrats, media hacks, and access to means of influencing public opinion, Trump has no real power. MAGA may reflect the overwhelming sentiment of conservatives, but it is not about a man but a system of power. Don Corleone was only a don because he had Luca Brasi and corrupt judges and cops to enforce his will. This is the same problem that Netanyahu, Bolsonaro, and other right-leaning world leaders in democratic governments face in the current political climate.

I would ask Mr. Powell, the author, what his solution is. Does he really want four more years of Biden/Harris? Powell is one of these so-called "deep thinkers",
who was asked by his editor to write a "thoughtful" column. Trump has to win in a landslide, and the Republicans must have solid control of both Houses if he is to make a difference. Without the House of Representatives, Trump is a lame duck.

The VOTERS did not choose Biden to lower the volume and heal the nation...or for any other purpose. He was selected not elected and imposed on the American people by Those Who Know Better via all manner of election chicanery far beyond what even the Demonrats had perpetrated before.

Nice try, Powell. Try projecting on something else, next time.
