Exxon warns Baytown, other hydrogen projects
unlikely under federal draft rules

WASHINGTON – A year after Exxon Mobil announced it would be part of a team planning to build the largest clean hydrogen facility in the world, executives are warning the project at its Baytown refining and petrochemical complex along the Houston Ship Channel might no longer happen. At issue are draft rules issued by the Treasury Department late last year, which include no incentive to produce clean hydrogen fuel using natural gas with reduced methane emissions. That would limit Baytown and other proposed blue hydrogen projects, which use electricity from natural gas plants and store carbon emissions underground, to the lowest tier of hydrogen tax credit, making

Hydrogen as a "fuel" is a total crock. It is NOT any sort of a "fuel". A fuel is something you go and get, perhaps with some minor processing. Like firewood...you have to cut it to length and split it. That's a fuel. Oil...you have to drill for it, pump it up, and separate it into different components, kerosene for jet fuel, diesel for trucks, gasoline for cars, etc. Relatively minor changes in the fuel. Hydrogen must be CREATED by either breaking down natural gas (LOSING much of the energy, and spending a lot of energy) or by splitting water....using far more energy IN to the process than the hydrogen has after the process. Hydrogen is more like a battery......put in 100 units of energy....get 75 units out, if you are lucky. Hydrogen "fuel" is a non-starter economically. It is also VERY flammable. The static electricity spark energy that will ignite hydrogen is a tiny fraction of the static spark energy that will ignite gasoline vapors. They tell you not to get back into your car when fueling with gasoline, although many ignore it and get away with it. This is because sliding across the seat can give your body a static charge, especially in dry winter conditions, and then touching the gas nozzle or cap may possibly cause a spark. Almost never happens with gasoline (still not smart to do) but with hydrogen.....you'd be FAR more likely to "come up a winner" and get your very own Hindenburg situation. NO to hydrogen. Uneconomical and unsafe. And how about an accident leaking hydrogen from a cracked high pressure tank? Fun, fun, fun. And the flames from hydrogen are invisible in daylight, barely visible at night.

Agree with everything you posted, #1, except the bit about ‘creating; hydrogen’. Hydrogen already exists as element #1 in the periodic table, it is not being created, The various processes separate the hydrogen atoms from other compounds and concentrate it. A small point perhaps, but it’s good to be accurate.

Re #2, yes, you are correct. The hydrogen exists but NEVER in a free form that can be used, always in combination, with CH4 (methane, the greatest component of natural gas) or H2O, water. So "hydrogen fuel" as free hydrogen must be created....or perhaps more correctly 'separated' or 'freed', but whatever words you use, it requires huge expenditures of HIGH GRADE energy (natural gas or electricity) which could be directly used at nearly 100% efficiency to turn a motor or heat a furnace, or at over 100% efficiency in a heat pump in mild climates. 100 BTUs of electricity can move 1800 BTUs of heat from outside, concentrate it and pump it into a home. Or 100 BTUs of natural gas can heat a home, putting about 85 BTUs into the home with an older furnace, or 97 BTUs into the home with a newer furnace. Turn it into hydrogen.....put in 100 BTUs.....get out 50 or 75 or something like that. Same with electricity to crack water....put in more HIGH GRADE energy than you get out. Hydrogen was debunked in a an excellent technical article in Scientific American, back when it was still about actual science, in the 1990s, IIRC. But today, SciAm is just another leftist propaganda rag. I subscribed to SciAm for about 35 years...but when they went leftist propaganda.....I quit EVER reading their trash.

Gallup: Boy O Boy Is Brandon in Trouble 3 replies

Joe Biden may be trying to revive his presidency by bringing out his inner "Dark Brandon," but according to all the polls the American people aren't buying it one little bit. It's just any poll. It's every poll. Including the granddaddy of them all, Gallup, which just released its new numbers on Biden's ratings with the voters, and the news is simply devastating. WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Americans’ approval of President Joe Biden’s job performance has edged down three percentage points to 38%, just one point shy of his all-time low and well below the 50% threshold that has typically led to reelection for incumbents. In addition, Biden registers subpar approval ratings

A jury found Wayne LaPierre and the National Rifle Association liable in a New York state civil corruption trial Friday, ruling that LaPierre misappropriated millions of dollars when he was NRA chief executive officer to finance a lavish lifestyle while the gun-rights organization neglected proper financial management. After five days of deliberations, the jury held that LaPierre cost the NRA $5.4 million, even accounting for the $1 million he had previously repaid. The trial in the lawsuit brought by New York attorney general Letitia James in 2020 came after a three-year investigation into the NRA, which is registered as a nonprofit organization in New York.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — A private U.S. lunar lander tipped over at touchdown and ended up on its side near the moon’s south pole, hampering communications, company officials said Friday. Intuitive Machines initially believed its six-footed lander, Odysseus, was upright after Thursday’s touchdown. But CEO Steve Altemus said Friday the craft “caught a foot in the surface,” falling onto its side and, quite possibly, leaning against a rock. He said it was coming in too fast and may have snapped a leg. “So far, we have quite a bit of operational capability even though we’re tipped over,” he told reporters.

I spent much of my professional life in radio. One of the great things about being at a smaller station is that programmers are pretty much given a free hand, so long as they don't blatantly violate Broadcast Standards and Practices. That allowed me to create a killer talk lineup that consisted at times of Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura, Sean Hannity, Bruce Williams, Phil Hendrie, and, of course, the great Art Bell. And I got to design and create local programming that included my own show. I was also tasked with hiring broadcast staff, including board operators and reporters. At the time, Utah was still mostly white

New York — The digital media revolution is over. Its two leaders, Vice Media and BuzzFeed , are in a frenetic retreat, surrendering much of their online empires as they try to protect what remains of their core assets. Having once threatened to upend the entire industry and usher in a new era of news distribution and monetization, the former digital media darlings are now merely attempting to survive in any form they can. As they retreat, their large newsrooms once filled with rows of journalists are now shutting off the lights and closing their doors. BuzzFeed, already slimmed down after several waves of layoffs, announced this week

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented his plan for “the day after” Hamas is defeated in Gaza to his Cabinet on Thursday, calling for local officials without links to terrorism to run the government, and Israel to exercise military control. The plan does not explicitly rule out a role for the Palestinian Authority (PA), which governs Palestinian communities in the West Bank; nor does it include a Palestinian state, leaving that issue for future bilateral talks. It is deliberately vague on these points. Netanyahu’s goal in leaving those contentious issues undefined appears to be to satisfy the demands of the Biden administration on the one hand,

If you've noticed a little green sticker on your PC or laptop, it likely means Nvidia's computer hardware — or graphics card, for the tech-minded — is inside. The Biden administration recently issued direct warnings to the Russian government against deploying a nuclear-capable anti-satellite weapon, U.S. officials confirmed to CBS News. The warning was part of a broader diplomatic push that has also involved urging the Indian and Chinese governments, among others, to weigh in directly with Moscow. The talks come after a warning from House Intelligence Committee chairman Mike Turner, Republican of Ohio — who issued a cryptic statement last week regarding a "serious national security threat" — propelled the matter to public prominence. White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby later said Turner's concern was related to a space-based "anti-satellite capability"

We keep on being gaslit with the argument that Joe Biden is dedicated to preserving the norms and laws of our Republic, while Trump is bent on destroying our Constitutional Republic. As with so many things argued by the Left, the opposite is the case. When Trump overstepped his authority and was chastised by the Court, he bowed to their authority. Biden? He does the opposite and brags about it. Example #1 is, of course, his student loan forgiveness efforts. Biden ran on providing student loan forgiveness, and when he assumed office, he tried to wipe away billions in this debt with the stroke of a pen.
