Vladimir Putin: Bad Historian

As someone who’s lived in both Russia and Ukraine, who speaks Russian and Ukrainian, and is versed in their histories, I’ve been bombarded with questions about Putin’s recent interview with Tucker Carlson. It prompted me to compile my answers into this article, hoping to clarify for my American friends the real backdrop and fallout of Putin’s remarks. [snip] 12 main messages and 30 basic fakes in Vladimir Putin’s interview with Tucker Carlson, adding that a detailed analysis of Putin’s fakes, errors, absurdities, distortions, manipulations, and falsifications requires considerable space and time and, hopefully, will be done in the near future.

Comments:

If you thought anything Putin said "made sense", please take a moment to compare reality to Putin's fairy tales.

Like I said before the "evil Ruskies take over the world cause we didn't pay for Mrs Zelensky's latest shopping trip" line of bs won't cut it anymore. We have no business paying money we do not have to third rate comics with delusions of grandeur. Stop funding the Biden crime syndicate. Close our borders. Spend our money defending this country. No more endless wars.

Putin said the WWII started when Poland invaded Germany. Not so. A small radio station in a town in Germany on the Polish border was attacked by Polish soldiers except that is was what we now call a false flag. They were SS soldiers in Polish uniforms. Just what adolf needed to kick off WW II. There are nazis in Ukraine, they're the Azov Battalion.

Oleg is probably as close to correct as one can get given the reality that ALL history is fuzzy after being altered by those who tell the story based upon their own partially-biased perception. KGB operatives are trained in the fashion of CIA operatives, that their country is always right and any means, legal or otherwise, can be employed to enforce that manufactured truth. Such people as Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, Xerxes and Mohammed are in their descendants' history books as heroes. Seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth century Americans built this country without killing one Indian who didn't deserve it and were justified in destroying a good portion of the natural resources to build railroads, mine gold, wipe out the buffalo herds, cut down entire forests and divert the natural flow of water for human purposes, right? The Kuwaiti Air Force chased Saddam's Revolutionary Guard back to Iraq, correct? Fidel Castro freed all Cubans from the evil dictator, Batista, right? All true, according to the books. We are even supposed to believe that we owed England nothing for the ships they built and the money then spent to transport thousands of people here to create new colonies, right? Those colonists all paid the Indians a fair price for the land upon which they settled, as specified on the deeds, correct? One can not fault Putin for creating a more favorable history for his country just as China, Japan, Britain, Greece, Rome, Persia, Spain, France, Portugal and others justified the creation and conduct of their civilizations but we can fault him for murder, which is a common thread in all acquisitions of the lands of others.

Re #1, I forget which President we had, but the US government, made a "solemn commitment to Ukrainian territorial integrity" and freedom, and blah, blah, blah.....if they would just give up their dozens and dozens of deliverable nuclear weapons. The Ukrainians were very stupid to buy this fairy tale. If they'd had even a dozen deliverable nukes, Putin would have kept his hand off their country.

The beauty of this is that Tucker doesn't claim that Putin was correct. He let Putin ramble on so WE would know what Putin thinks. Now we do. He thinks he is a part of a grand people, but according to this author, he is not. This is not very surprising. Many dictators invent fabulous history's to aggrandize themselves. Now we all know a bit more about the history of this area of the world.

This article leaves me with more questions than answers. Wasn’t Western Ukraine part of Poland at one point? From a Politifact article: polls of Ukrainians showed that the was majority support for aligning with Russia before the Maidan Revolution, but support fell due to a large decline in the number of Russians in Ukraine. Where did they go?

On February 16, 2024, a judge in New York State imposed fines totaling just over $360 million on former president Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, and several related Trump companies and trusts in the civil case brought by the New York attorney general. President Trump’s sons Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump were fined just over $4 million each. [snip] However, little or no reporting focused on the constitutionality of the fines under the Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution. President Trump and his co-defendants all have substantial 8th Amendment “excessive fine” challenges to raise.

Greenies’ delusions of intelligence and enlightenment have some very serious real-world consequences, and the environmental fallout of a California dam removal project is a prime example. Here’s the story, shared by Katy Grimes at the California Globe today: Klamath Dam Removal: ‘It’s an Environmental Disaster’ The removal of dams along the Klamath River in Siskiyou County, Northern California was sold as necessary to save salmon – specifically, ‘to restore habitat for endangered fish.’ As Grimes reports, the official plans to demolish the dams were submitted in 2018, but ran into a series of roadblocks over the years; fast-forward to the beginning of last month.

For almost a century, there has been one constant in American politics: Jews vote for Democrats. There are multiple reasons for this fact but, regardless of the reason, the one thing Democrats could rely on was the Jewish vote. However, the Biden administration’s increasingly open hostility to Israel may be changing that pattern. One poll out of New York shows something remarkable: More than 50% of New York’s Jews plan to vote for Donald Trump! When Eastern European Jews came to America, they were escaping tsarist oppression. For them, the opposite of tsarism was Marxism. This binary viewpoint wasn’t unique to them. In pre-WWII England

The recent judgement for fraud against Donald Trump in a New York City Court, in a dollar amount higher than the GNP of some countries despite no one being defrauded, has revealed something many Americans didn’t know: New York State is driving out its most productive, tax-producing citizens and businesses. What happens to a state that, for leftist political reasons, purposely destroys its tax base? What happens to that self-defunding state when its federal Democrat/socialist/communist (D/s/c/) allies open the borders and send tens, even hundreds, of thousands of illegal immigrants to take advantage of the state’s self-imposed sanctuary? New York is finding out, and isn’t much liking it.

I am shocked, shocked! (which is to say I am not shocked at all, nor the least bit surprised) that gunfire broke out as Wednesday’s Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City and rally was just winding down. Although, as of now, there has been no definitive word about the perpetrators or their motivation, there have been rumors that the incident began with an argument between persons attending the event. If so, it’s a byproduct of the actions, policies, and attitudes of the city’s “leaders.” The climate of crime and murder in Kansas City, Missouri, has been fostered by the city’s so-called leaders, who for years have pandered to

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents fear there may be an alliance brewing between El Salvador’s MS-13 gang and Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua that would see New Yorkers terrorized by crime sprees, fueled by the porous southern border. According to an FBI agent who spoke to the New York Post‘s Isabel Vincent, members of Tren de Aragua have exploited President Joe Biden’s policies at the United States-Mexico border that help release thousands of illegal aliens into American cities every day. As a result, the Venezuelan street gang has massively grown its ranks across the sanctuary city of New York City, particularly in the Bronx. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro,

Last week, a court in Hong Kong ordered that Evergrande, China’s massive property developer, must be liquidated. Real estate accounts for about one-quarter of China’s GDP, and Evergrande isn’t the only troubled part of the Chinese real estate sector. While I’d always like to see China constrained, not only is a collapsing China dangerous, but the real estate collapse also reminds us of what’s happening domestically. Business Insider reported on Evergrande’s liquidation, which has long been expected and which will be carried out in an orderly fashion. The assets are valued at $245 billion (which I suspect is inflated), while the company’s debts are $300 billion.

Mary Poppins has had its age rating lifted from U to PG because it contains 'discriminatory language' - but the word in question is so obscure you may have never noticed it. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) now considers the 1964 tale of Julie Andrews' magical nanny to be not suitable for children to watch alone, despite the film enchanting generations of youngsters. The reclassification is due to the use of the word Hottentots. The dated term was historically used by Europeans to refer to the Khoekhoe, a group of nomadic herders in South Africa, but is now regarded as racially offensive.
