As someone who’s lived in both Russia and Ukraine, who speaks Russian and Ukrainian, and is versed in their histories, I’ve been bombarded with questions about Putin’s recent interview with Tucker Carlson. It prompted me to compile my answers into this article, hoping to clarify for my American friends the real backdrop and fallout of Putin’s remarks.
[snip] 12 main messages and 30 basic fakes in Vladimir Putin’s interview with Tucker Carlson, adding that a detailed analysis of Putin’s fakes, errors, absurdities, distortions, manipulations, and falsifications requires considerable space and time and, hopefully, will be done in the near future.

Didn’t the Clinton Administration broker the removal of nuclear weapons from Ukraine 30 odd years ago?
Might not be having this discussion with a nuclear Ukraine.

Like I said before the "evil Ruskies take over the world cause we didn't pay for Mrs Zelensky's latest shopping trip" line of bs won't cut it anymore.
We have no business paying money we do not have to third rate comics with delusions of grandeur.
Stop funding the Biden crime syndicate.
Close our borders.
Spend our money defending this country.
No more endless wars.

Putin said the WWII started when Poland invaded Germany. Not so. A small radio station in a town in Germany on the Polish border was attacked by Polish soldiers except that is was what we now call a false flag. They were SS soldiers in Polish uniforms. Just what adolf needed to kick off WW II.
There are nazis in Ukraine, they're the Azov Battalion.

Oleg is probably as close to correct as one can get given the reality that ALL history is fuzzy after being altered by those who tell the story based upon their own partially-biased perception. KGB operatives are trained in the fashion of CIA operatives, that their country is always right and any means, legal or otherwise, can be employed to enforce that manufactured truth.
Such people as Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, Xerxes and Mohammed are in their descendants' history books as heroes. Seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth century Americans built this country without killing one Indian who didn't deserve it and were justified in destroying a good portion of the natural resources to build railroads, mine gold, wipe out the buffalo herds, cut down entire forests and divert the natural flow of water for human purposes, right? The Kuwaiti Air Force chased Saddam's Revolutionary Guard back to Iraq, correct? Fidel Castro freed all Cubans from the evil dictator, Batista, right? All true, according to the books. We are even supposed to believe that we owed England nothing for the ships they built and the money then spent to transport thousands of people here to create new colonies, right? Those colonists all paid the Indians a fair price for the land upon which they settled, as specified on the deeds, correct? One can not fault Putin for creating a more favorable history for his country just as China, Japan, Britain, Greece, Rome, Persia, Spain, France, Portugal and others justified the creation and conduct of their civilizations but we can fault him for murder, which is a common thread in all acquisitions of the lands of others.

Re #1, I forget which President we had, but the US government, made a "solemn commitment to Ukrainian territorial integrity" and freedom, and blah, blah, blah.....if they would just give up their dozens and dozens of deliverable nuclear weapons.
The Ukrainians were very stupid to buy this fairy tale. If they'd had even a dozen deliverable nukes, Putin would have kept his hand off their country.

The beauty of this is that Tucker doesn't claim that Putin was correct. He let Putin ramble on so WE would know what Putin thinks. Now we do. He thinks he is a part of a grand people, but according to this author, he is not.
This is not very surprising. Many dictators invent fabulous history's to aggrandize themselves. Now we all know a bit more about the history of this area of the world.

This article leaves me with more questions than answers. Wasn’t Western Ukraine part of Poland at one point? From a Politifact article: polls of Ukrainians showed that the was majority support for aligning with Russia before the Maidan Revolution, but support fell due to a large decline in the number of Russians in Ukraine. Where did they go?

Was hoping that the rumors of Putin's declining health were real. Guess not.
Was hoping that the more sane members of the Russian government would take Putin out.
Guess not.
Another endless war started by a power hungry madman.
