‘Blasphemy’: ‘He Gets Us’ Jesus
Super Bowl Ad Ignites Controversy

Original Article

During one of the early commercial breaks during the 2024 Super Bowl, Come Near aired its ad featuring scenes of people of all sorts washing someone’s feet in emulation of Jesus. But many felt the ad completely missed the Biblical point. [SNIP] The ad shows a total of twelve scenes of one individual washing another’s feet. Most appear to be white people doing the washing. None feature a minority washing a white man’s feet, and some even seem to be telling white Christians not to be bigoted. That last one, in particular, features a white priest washing the feet of what appears to be a member of the LGBTQ community.

Comments:

There certainly were a lot of lesbian couples in the Super Bowl commercials.

Denzel Washington says that the best way to defeat racism is not to talk about it. In this case, the producers were cowards in that they did not have a person of color washing the feet of a caucasian person. I saw the commercial and did not notice race in the ad because i was not looking for it. I did notice rich/poor and people from all walks of life. For me, it was a clever, well-done ad.

Actually, I liked the M&M Peanut Butter ad near the start of the game. If I saw any more of those CCP TEMU ads, I might have turned off the game. The Jesus ad was kind of lame ... but then again, we went and saw The Chosen the other day and not too happy on how they handled that one at the end.

Obviously the message is for all of us to be non-judgemental of others. The Bible is replete with the teachings that we should follow the Golden Rule" "to do unto others as you would have them do unto you". It is also very clear in the Book of Romans that "there are none righteous, no, not one!" All too many Christians are "self righteous" and judge others with a haugnty spirit and their witness to the world is reprehensible. If we are only to spread love, we are only getting part of the message-- We are to love the sinner but hate the sin and our own relationship is between each individual and the Lord. Kindness, charity and a servant attitude to all leaving condemnation to God is the way.

I've got news for them, the Apostle John tells us (John 1:1) that Jesus is, "Ho Logos," or, "The Word," meaning that the entire Bible is literally the, "Mind of Christ." That being established, it means that the Old Testament punishment for sexual deviancy, most notably "homosexuality" was death by stoning. Yes, that was Jesus who established that Law, and it wasn't taken lightly, nor were any abominations from God's design for mankind. The fact Jesus did not encounter homosexuals during His earthly ministry was no doubt due to strict enforcement of the Mosaic Law's harsh judgement upon practitioners. One thing taken out of context by hedonists is the Gospel account of Jesus telling the adulterous woman to, "Go, and sin no more." This was only because the group of religious men who brought her did not follow the Mosaic Law in several ways. They were supposed to bring both male and female participants to the judges at the city gate, while instead they brought only the woman to Him. Jesus was not a civil judge, and it was a foolish trap, but sinful hedonists have recited the words of Jesus, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone," for millennia to justify their own sinful behavior. Jesus said, "I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world." (John 12:47)

The definition of "hate" has devolved in our society to "anything I see or hear that I don't like." The word is hurled when persons using it have no other argument. I was offended by this obnoxious ad from the start of it.

The Israeli Army in the Gaza Strip slaying thousands of Muslim Brotherhood brothers (Hamas) came upon evidence of UNRWA employees participating in the satanic events of October 7, which should not surprise because UNRWA has been a major player in the antisemitic fantasy of a “Palestinian people” whose homeland was allegedly stolen from them by the Jews, the lie that justifies the very existence of UNRWA in support of the “victims of Zionism.” UNRWA’s brief for 75 years has been supporting millions of “Palestinian refugees” when, truth be told, there is nothing Palestinian about these people. And neither are they refugees.

Israel's neighbors and key mediators warned Saturday of disaster and repercussions if its military launches a ground invasion in Gaza's southern city of Rafah, where Israel says remaining Hamas strongholds are located — along with over half the besieged territory's population. [SNIP] The announcement set off panic. More than half of Gaza's 2.3 million people are packed into Rafah, which borders Egypt. Many fled there after following Israeli evacuation orders that now cover two-thirds of the territory following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack that sparked the war. It's not clear where they could go next. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said any Israeli ground offensive on Rafah would have "disastrous consequences."

More than two dozen confidential witnesses against former president Donald Trump face “significant and immediate risks of threats, intimidation, and harassment” if their identities become public, federal prosecutors have told a judge. In response, U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon in West Palm Beach, Florida put a hold on Friday’s previously scheduled public release of a trove of documents. Cannon has given Trump's attorneys until Feb. 23 to respond, meaning the documents likely won't be released earlier. At issue is evidence prosecutors turned over to defense attorneys in the case over Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida after leaving the White House.

"It's like when the tank came on the scene and when the submarine came on the scene, when the machine gun entered the the scene in the beginning," Lt. Col. Daniel Davis told Scripps News. But the recent militant strike on a military base in Jordan that killed three U.S. servicemembers and injured dozens more begs the question: Are we ready for this future? "You know in terms of capabilities, there is a huge difference across the [NATO] alliance," said Federico Borsari, a fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis.

Top lawmakers put out a bombshell report Thursday revealing how billions of American dollars are flowing into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party - and being used to support their military and genocidal efforts. The report states that U.S. venture capitalist companies have helped 'build and strengthen' China's authoritarian regime through a variety of methods. According to the House China Select Committee, over $3 billion was invested into Chinese artificial intelligence and semiconductor companies by five top U.S. venture capitalist firms between 2001 and 2023. The committee launched an investigation last summer into the finances of five companies: Sequoia Capital, Qualcomm Ventures, Walden International, GSR Ventures and GGV Capital.

President Biden's Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen dodged multiple questions from Republicans about why her department instructed banks to comb through Americans' bank records after January 6 looking for 'extremists.' Federal investigators in Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) asked U.S. banks to scour customer transactions for key terms like 'MAGA' and 'Trump,' Republicans revealed in January. The federal government was specifically 'watching' Trump supporters and Americans who frequent outdoor stores such as Cabela's, Dick's Sporting Goods and Bass Pro Shops, and also those who purchased religious texts, such as a Bible. The report sparked a flurry of backlash at the Biden administration from Republicans demanding answers about the government's spy tactics.

At a budget meeting on Friday Feb. 2, the HRM approved Halifax Public Libraries’ proposed $25 million budget for 2024/25, an increase of $1.5 million from last year. What makes this a bitter pill to swallow, even if it was pre-approved in December, is that nearly half of the increase—$692,355 of your hard-earned tax dollars—is because of and will mostly go to Jeff Bezos. When the library wants to buy a book, an actual ink-on-paper object, it costs about $15 and they can have it until it falls apart. If the library wants an audio book, it costs thousands of dollars to lend it out for two years.
