A divide in Mansfield over LGBTQ+ prom
and the location it's held

In Mansfield, an LGBTQ+ dance for teens is in the spotlight and the center of a social media firestorm after the original venue backed out for two reasons; but the prom will still go on, just in a new location. Deena Hamilton is the mother of gay twins and the founder of Love on a Mission, a group that seeks to create a safe space for anyone in the LGBTQ+ community. “We're supposed to be like Jesus and show love and respect and even in our differences,” said Hamilton.

Comments:

How odd that godless liberals would bring up the name of Jesus in order to defend their immoral and sinful behavior.

I read the whole article. The names the 'musicians' have chosen are sick, sexual innuendo. No 12 year old should even be aware of this stuff. This mother went too far. I think she meant well but life is not about being gay or straight. No one cares about anyone elses sexuality and should not be used as your identity as a person.

Question: How the heck do you get gay twins. Answer : You start raising them to be gay from the time they are born. The Mother is the one who is the dominant force in these kids lives, and she is a Looney. The entertainment is drag queens, two of them named Anita Boner and the other Miles N Sider , and the third one isn't named. Probably Ben Dover.

It's amazing how people play the Jesus card when they want to explain sinful behavior. When the prostitute was saved from stoning, Jesus intervened and forgave her but said. ":Go and sin no more". Gays have no intention of doing that so they can skip invoking what they think forgives them.

Gee mom, LGBTQ prom, fine. Shoving LGBTQ stereotypes down everyone's throats by adding drag queens to the prom went too far. Let kids be kids. Don't add another layer of sexuality on top of it to make it even more gay. That does not make it more of a safe space. She just sexualized the prom. No wonder the mother has gay twins. It is one thing to support your LGBTQ kids. It us another to push LGBTQ orthodoxy and activism.

Mansfield? I spent a few days there years ago for work. Everything except the movie theater and the McDonalds shut down by 6pm. Across from where I stayed was a gas station which had a row of soda machines. Every soda cost 50 cents. My coworker and I were stunned that in this day and age, whole towns would be closed by 6pm and that soda machines still offered sodas for less than half the price from where we lived. One hears stories of things like this, but to actually experience it was something out of a Twighlight Zone episode.

The IRS said it is poised to reap hundreds of billions of dollars of additional tax revenue by going after overdue and unpaid taxes, far beyond what was previously anticipated, thanks to funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The new analysis, released Tuesday by the Treasury Department and the IRS, estimates that tax revenues are expected to rise by as much as $561 billion from 2024 to 2034, thanks to stepped-up enforcement made possible with money from the Democrats' IRA, which became law in August 2022.

At a budget meeting on Friday Feb. 2, the HRM approved Halifax Public Libraries’ proposed $25 million budget for 2024/25, an increase of $1.5 million from last year. What makes this a bitter pill to swallow, even if it was pre-approved in December, is that nearly half of the increase—$692,355 of your hard-earned tax dollars—is because of and will mostly go to Jeff Bezos. When the library wants to buy a book, an actual ink-on-paper object, it costs about $15 and they can have it until it falls apart. If the library wants an audio book, it costs thousands of dollars to lend it out for two years.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is rushing through a tax bill unveiled days ago over significant policy objections from both conservative and centrist factions of the Republican Party. Conservatives have spoken out against provisions in the bill they see as handouts to illegal immigrants, particularly an expansion of the Child Tax Credit without language requiring the parent to have a Social Security number. They argue the expansion would serve as an additional powerful migration pull, even as migrant encounters at the border reach record highs under President Joe Biden.

The damaged display included a statue of the pagan idol Baphomet. He said at the time, "My conscience is held captive to the word of God, not to bureaucratic decree. And so I acted." That charge was upgraded, according to court documents reported on by the Des Moines Register, accusing Cassidy of committing felony third-degree criminal mischief.

UPS says it will cut 12,000 jobs following a disappointing sales outlook for the year. The layoffs come just five months after the company reached a major union deal. The job cuts will help the company save $1 billion in costs, CEO Carol Tome said in a call Tuesday morning. Manager and contract roles will be the most impacted. Labor negotiations last year threatened to disrupt package deliveries for millions of customers, before a deal with Teamsters was reached. As consumers feared potential strikes, they took their business to rival companies, like FedEx. UPS expects to gain most of that business back, but so far has only won back 60% of it.

An activist investor has urged BP to ditch its green strategy and continue to cash in on oil and gas. Bluebell Capital Partners wrote to the energy giant’s chairman Helge Lund with concerns about how the FTSE 100 energy giant is run. The London-based hedge fund blasted BP’s green transition plan as ‘irrational’ and said the strategy has depressed its share price. Investors are concerned that BP is underperforming compared with rival Shell and US energy giants Exxon Mobil and Chevron. Shell has scaled back its net zero transition strategy under the leadership of chief executive Wael Sawan. And American energy firms have doubled down on oil and gas production.

In a dramatic setback, House Republicans failed Tuesday to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, forced to shelve a high-profile priority — for now — after a few GOP lawmakers refused to go along with the party’s plan. The stunning roll call fell just a few votes short of impeaching Mayorkas, stalling the Republicans’ drive to punish the Biden administration over its handling of the U.S-Mexico border. With Democrats united against the charges, the Republicans needed almost every vote from their slim majority to approve the articles of impeachment. The House is likely to revisit plans to impeach Mayorkas, but next steps are highly uncertain.

During an address at the White House on Tuesday, Biden praised the Senate bill that would expand overall immigration to the United States by codifying his parole pipeline that has freed hundreds of thousands of border crossers into the nation’s interior. The bill would also increase legal immigration to the U.S., even as Biden has driven the nation’s foreign-born population to nearly 50 million — the largest ever in American history.
