Judge Arthur Engoron rebuked Donald Trump after the former president attacked his clerk in a social media post on Tuesday and forbade the parties from making any future comments about his staff. “This morning one of the defendants posted on (a) social media account a disparaging untrue and personally identifying post about a member of my staff. Although I have since ordered the post deleted and apparently it was, it was also emailed out to millions of other recipients,” the judge said in court. “Personal attacks of any member of my court staff are unacceptable, inappropriate and I will not tolerate them,” the judge said.

Perhaps Trump could speak abt them in a parable style and NOT use their names. Just tell a story. Then if they call him on it he can say, well, just like Bowman, "I don't know why this is such a big deal I am just telling a story".

As much as I would like to see President Trump serve as Speaker of the House, I don't believe he has the patience to herd cats. He only likes to deal with people he can fire when they become impossible to deal with. As to speaking publicly about the Judge's court clerk, that was an unwise move. Judges are highly protective of their clerks. Their privacy is sacrosanct. Clerks are always subject to being threatened, blackmailed, or followed home and harmed. Leticia will be gleefully rubbing her hands together over this faux pas. I agree that Judge Engoron is a putz, and he's in way over his head here, but it's foolish to bait him. I hope PDT has another trick up his sleeve, because this was an inauspicious start.

BAKERSFIELD — Minutes before the vote that cost California‘s Rep. Kevin McCarthy his job as speaker of the House, three Republican voters lunching in his hometown cursed the scorched-earth politics in Washington. The conservative women said McCarthy had been left with two bad choices in the days before his ouster: Risk a revolt from the hard right and cut a deal with Democrats to pass a funding bill, or acquiesce to the hard-liners and shut down the federal government, wrecking the economy. Ultimately, they thought, McCarthy did the right thing — and paid the price on Tuesday. “He was damned if he did, damned if he didn’t,”

WASHINGTON — The stunning removal of Kevin McCarthy as speaker left the House effectively paralyzed Wednesday as Republicans struggled to bring order to their fractured majority and begin the difficult and potentially prolonged process of uniting around a new leader. The House opened briefly then went into recess, with North Carolina Rep. Patrick McHenry, the caretaker speaker pro-tempore, serving in the job with very little power for the foreseeable future. Other Republicans left Washington, awaiting the next steps. The House will try to elect a speaker as soon as next week. The timing is nowhere near certain as Republicans line up for their chance at the gavel amid the bitter divisions

Looks like another federal court doesn’t support the idea that Homeland Security’s writ includes America’s “cognitive infrastructure.” In a unanimous ruling yesterday, the Fifth Circuit expanded bars on the Biden administration’s Big Brother censorship activities, blocking the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) from any speech-policing communication with private-sector media platforms. This comes from a further review of Missouri v Biden, which the Supreme Court will also take up in an ill-advised appeal by the administration to an earlier ruling: The CISA, described as the “nerve center” of federal government censorship, is responsible for censoring the American public, facilitating collusion between the feds and social media companies

Who was it who said of the Palestinians that they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity? You could say the same of the Republican Party. Then there is the adage, attributed to Napoleon, that you should never interrupt an enemy when he is making a mistake. The Republicans violated that one today, too.
