Lawmakers have voted to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., from his leadership role, the first time in the history of the House of Representatives that the chamber voted to boot a member from the top job.
Eight Republicans voted with every present Democrat to vacate the speaker's chair. The final vote was 216 to 210 in favor of McCarthy's ouster.
Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., introduced a measure against McCarthy known as a motion to vacate on Monday night, accusing him of breaking promises he made to win the speaker's gavel in January.

And what does this accomplish? Nothing except emboldens Democrats, screws up the House business during an impeachment inquiry and ultimately screw us, the little guy. The biggest winner, Aphasic Mitch McConnell.

#4 - the list is in Newsweek - Eight Republicans joined every member of the Democratic Party to exceed the simple majority needed to oust the speaker. These conservatives included Representatives Gaetz, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Ken Buck of Colorado, Tim Burchett of Tennessee, Eli Crane of Arizona, Bob Good of Virginia, Nancy Mace of South Carolina, and Matt Rosendale of Montana.

This a total disaster. Gaetz has worked in tandem with the Democrats to remove a Republican Speaker. How long before we have a new Speaker? I will venture to say it may be weeks. We could end up with a Democrat.

Good news. McCarthy lied to the republicans. He didn't hold up his end of the bargain. He is doing what mostly every republican in washington has done for the last 30 years. Give the democrats what they want. Be a limp noodle. Go in debt. Let democrats remove freedoms from Americans. They are never held accountable. Finally, a speaker has been held accountable. Next time, someone may actually mean what they say.

What this accomplishes that FINALLY someone said no to spending the US into communism, followed by Islamism. The mess the Dems and Rinos have us in must stop! Gaetz and friends are warriors for the future of America ... and that of the world, which looks to us. Now some equally brave conservative needs to step up for Speaker. Stop throwing everything we have or will have out to illegals and to other countries.

Not a fan of McCarthy and the move he made by promising to spend billions once the CR passed shows he cannot be trusted. Not really a fan of Gaetz because I see no real solutions offered by doing this. I grew up in the Episcopal Church and a strong Republican household. Years ago the Episcopal Church became unrecognizable and I could no longer call myself an Episcopalian. Over the last 20 years and more so over the last 5 the Republican party has become mostly unrecognizable and submissive to the Uniparty ideology. This transformation has led to distancing myself from the GOP. Today is just another day highlighting our stupid those in Congres are on both sides of the aisle.

Great job! Oddly enough,. I also heard that Gaetz has some issues with James Comer. You know, one of the other people who is going after Biden's family. Pretty interesting that he called McCarthy a swamp creature, but he just handed the swamp creatures a huge win. It's also very funny that he was griping about McCarthy making deals with the democrats, which is exactly what he went and did to get McCarthy voted out. In addition, he has now made us look completely incompetent to the American people., just in time for the upcoming election cycle. Again, you tell me who's working for the swamp., Gaetz is not a hero.
And if you have any doubts about the ultimate outcome of this, just watche the reaction from the democrats. They're going to use this for all its worth to further paint the Republicans as inept. This was stupid

Republicans have failed to stand on principle in favor of expediency for a long time now. Today they made a step toward doing something other than going along with the status quo. Change is uncomfortable but taking a step toward responsible governance is important. If we never take a risk, we will never reap a reward. The Uniparty knives will be out in full force to punish anyone who dares to break the spending addiction that has control of our government. Republicans could make lemonade out of lemons if they just had the best interests of the country at heart. However, far too many are concerned with only one thing, keeping their share of the pie. Throwing down the gauntlet on broken promises and backroom deals seems to me to be a winning strategy. There has to come a time when these folks are held accountable. If not now, when?

Doubt the Republicans have any idea where this will go. Bet the Democrats have an idea where they would like it to go. The party in danger of disintegration are the Republicans. Been thinking we don't really have a two party system and am wondering if we are all about to see that in reality.

Thanks to Gaetz the House Republicans have surrendered the high ground to the Democrats on every issue. Republicans were considered much better on the economy, border and crime than the Democrats. Due to Gaetz and the slimy fools who sided with him, the Democrats have been successful in ousting McCarthy, something they have wanted since the Republicans took over the House. Liz Cheney, who urged a House Democrat to assist in removing McCarthy, is very happy. Ken Buck, who went along with Gaetz, is happy that the impeachment effort will be sidelined. Nancy Mace, who opposed McCarthy because he wasn't good on women's issues, is also happy. Joe Biden, Hakeem Jeffries, Joe Biden and Mitch McConnell are thrilled with Matt and, when convenient, will enjoy destroying him. By then he won't have any friends or allies and it will be good riddance to bad rubbish.

This is just Washington drama. Any Speaker with a 2 vote majority facing a Democrat held Senate is going to have very little influence. He/she can stop bills from going to the floor but can advance nothing without some negotiation. McCarthy agreed to these rules and Gaetz planned this from the beginning. They need to appoint someone else and move on. The election is a year away. This will fade. Some new drama will take its place.

Stunned at the many Pro McCarthy posts. As a former Californian, McCarthy has always been the poster boy for playing the “good ole boys” game; fence strider, K Street addict, and pretty boy who’s just not that smart.
This site has always stood for aggressive change and the abolition of the Uni-Party but now seems faint hearted when we actually begin to turn the ship around. I admire and am grateful for Gaetz and the eight patriots efforts.

Already the DNC Media is calling the radical, bomb-throwing Republicans, "Conservatives," which they decidedly are not. Gaetz may as well be a democrat, for all of the heavy lifting he's done for them. Despite commentary too the contrary, McCarthy was no less a RINO than President Trump with regard to funding the government through continuing resolutions, as he signed the CRs, including a temporary stopgap measure to fund government from September 30 to December 11, 2020. Imagine how castigated Gaetz would be if he took on statements of intent made by Trump to fellow Republicans that did not come to fruition during his term in office. Now we know that Trump had institutional roadblocks to accomplishing the bulk of his MAGA vision but McCarthy is not allowed the same courtesy or excuses. Winning a House majority does not mean that a majority of Americans support every initiative of the victorious party, as there are pockets of American citizens who keep sending the progressives to Congress. A small House majority is not the same as a sweeping mandate from the electorate and change is not dramatic or automatic when you have a small majority. McCarthy appears to know this and he's been working fairly effectively to ameliorate the situation. Not perfect but Mr. Gaetz never offered anything but scorched earth politics, which is mostly a bluff when your voting margins are so close.

Since there is no suggestion of a possible replacement for McCarthy or a plan for getting a replacement, it is fairly certain that this will result in a government shutdown in 45 days. It should be remembered that that all of the Democrats but only 8 Republicans voted to remove him as speaker. If the the government is shut down (which is a near certainty) the Democrats are 95% responsible for the shutdown while 95% of the Republicans tried to prevent it.

If GOP leadership in both chambers had stood by and supported Donald Trump and pushed for serious investigations into the 2020 election, we might not be having any of these discussions. McConnell, McCarthy, Scalise, et al have done nothing for the J6 defendants whose Constitutional rights have been severely violated. Instead they handed out Congressional medals to all the loser cops on the US Capitol Police force.
These so-called leaders have shown more concern for Ukrainians than US Citizens: those rotting away in the DC Gulag or federal prison (for interrupting an official function and all of us Republicans/Conservatives. BTW- does anyone her think McCarthy would do anything to punish Rep Jaymal Bowman for interrupting an official function? If if had been a R member who pulled a stunt like that, Pelosi would have the scaffolding being erected as I type this.
All this hysteria over the removal of McCarthy and in the meantime, the Border is still open, our Border Patrol agents have been reduced to Uber drivers, etc. And I find it ironic that McCarthy did help the Dems in Congress (more Dems voted for the CR than Republicans) and not one voted to keep him Speaker.

The chaos that results from this utter stupidity on the part Gaetz and the seven other idiots is that more Republicans will lose in upcoming elections. It is a fact of political life that you need to win elections and get a majority to accomplish anything. Shutting down the government is guaranteed to cause you to lose elections. And, if you have grandstanders in your own party that vote to support the opposition party, you are handicapped in what can be accomplished.
Gaetz and his band have obstructed McCarthy in every way which prevented him from getting as much as they “claimed” they wanted. It takes a deplorably hypocrite to attack the speaker for not getting more when your actions are the reason he could not get more.

Something just doesn't pass the smell test. Wisdom stops when you take apart a watch to find out what makes it tick and then you can't put it back together again. Same here!
Matt Gaetz was investigated for months by the FBI for "trafficking" a 17 year-old-girl --- among other things. That case was dropped but what if the FBI found out a lot of other stuff on Matt? In short --- what if Matt is being blackmailed now?
They say there are no real coincidences in life because things truly are linked together. Note that yesterday's stupid actions effectively stop the Biden investigations and impeachment hearings. Kind of perfect timing, too, that it was on the same day Hunter pleads not guilty in court. Also, it looks like there may have been a direct transfer of about $230k to an account directly linked to China Joe. All buried now or not reported on making it "old news".
Traction has been lost and the Dems will say: "See? They can't even govern themselves!".
Furthermore. Gaetz lost the support of most of his original coalition that opposed McCarthy back in January --- yet he picked up some new RINO kooks. Are they being blackmailed too?
Asking for a friend.
As the NY Post front page headline states: The Gaetz of Hell". Indeed.

After the '24 election, that small House Republican majority will become a large Republican minority.
