Trump Reveals Dilemma He Faced on Pardoning Himself

Former President Donald Trump says that he avoided "even thinking about" preemptively pardoning himself before leaving office in 2021. Trump has pleaded not guilty to 91 felony charges this year while campaigning as the leading Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential race. The ex-president claims to be the victim of a political "witch hunt," insisting that the charges amount to "election interference." In preview clip released on Thursday and taken from Trump's coming interview on NBC's flagship Sunday morning show Meet the Press, the former president told host Kristen Welker that he declined to pardon himself following his 2020 defeat to President Joe Biden, despite receiving some advice to do so.

I sure hope Trump made a recording of the interview because we all know the editing will be very selective.

In yet another example of how crazy this news week has been, we learned Tuesday that Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) and her companion were confronted by ushers and escorted out of a Denver theater Sunday over multiple complaints that they were taking photos, vaping and “causing a disturbance” during a "Beetlejuice" show. To quickly recap, according to reports, Boebert allegedly refused to leave at first and told theater employees when they threatened to involve the Denver PD to go and get them. An incident report noted that Boebert also allegedly tried a power play on the ushers after she and the unidentified man left their seats

Special Counsel Jack Smith has asked for a 'narrowly tailored' gag order against Donald Trump, to stop him from making 'inflammatory' and 'intimidating' comments to the judge and witnesses in the federal January 6 case. Smith's team has accused Trump of engaging in a campaign of 'disinformation' and harassment intended to intimidate witnesses, prosecutors and others involved in the trial. The extraordinary filing says Trump's efforts to weaken faith in the court system mirror his attacks on the 2020 election and the results. Trump has called Smith a 'thug', a 'lunatic', 'deranged and a 'Trump Hater' in his Truth Social platform posts since he was indicted over allegations he hired

At this point, the people in power behind the scenes at the White House have to be pulling their hair out over this question: How do you solve a problem like Joe Biden? As I wrote on Thursday, among the bad things he said were weird comments about Gov. Wes Moore's biceps and a racist comment about "African Americans, Hispanic workers, and veterans" as "you know, the workers without high school diplomas." He also just can't stop making things up and telling bizarre falsehoods. People trying to be charitable sometimes refer to these fantasies as trying to relate to their audience. But when you are falsely stealing an aspect

Striking Hollywood actors and writers escalated their war with the studios this week, participating in a joint march in Los Angeles that clogged the streets of the Hollywood neighborhood as protestors marched Tuesday from Netflix offices to the historic Paramount lot. Meanwhile, the actors union fired off an acrimonious salvo, accusing the studios and streamers of refusing to return to the bargaining table, with SAG-AFTRA leadership calling executives “petty tyrants.” The escalation is the latest sign that the historic strikes that have brought most of the industry to a standstill won’t be resolved any time soon. With little leverage to work with, and even less public goodwill,

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals extended a reprieve for the 1,000-foot buoy barrier in the Rio Grande River at Eagle Pass, Texas. Texas can keep the barrier up for at least 3 more weeks. The next hearing is set for October 5 on whether or not the buoy barrier is illegal. Last week Judge David A. Ezra ruled that Governor Greg Abbott must remove the floating buoy barrier he deployed without asking for federal permission. Abbott’s deadline was today, September 15. This week that deadline is no longer in effect. Governor Abbott expects the case to go to the Supreme Court, at least that is what he hopes.

A union representing nearly 150,000 autoworkers launched a strike early Friday morning against the Big 3 U.S. automakers -- General Motors, Ford and Stellantis. The United Auto Workers, or UAW, and the car manufacturers failed to reach a contract agreement before a deadline set by the union for Thursday at 11:59 p.m. ET. Less than two hours before the deadline, UAW president Shawn Fain announced the plants where union members would strike if a tentative agreement wasn't reached in time. By midnight Friday, that amounted to approximately 12,700 union workers, including ones at GM in Wentzville, Missouri; Stellantis in Toledo, Ohio; and Ford’s Wayne, Michigan plant.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a bill Wednesday that officially ends the state’s ban on official travel to conservative states that had enacted laws that Democrats claim are anti-LGBTQ. The ban had been a total failure. The Sacramento Bee reported: Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday signed Senate Bill 447 into law, ending the seven-year-old travel ban that prohibited state money from being used to pay for travel to states with anti-LGBTQ laws. The ban caused difficulties for many state agencies, researchers, student athletes and others who rely on state money. Even supporters of the ban acknowledged that the law was not having the deterrent effect it was intended to

When you look past the faux bravado and lame talking points from the White House, it’s quite clear they are panicking over this impeachment inquiry. I can’t blame them; they likely never believed that House Speaker McCarthy would ever get behind it — and for a long time, he wasn’t behind it at all. For sure, there were some rogue efforts to impeach Biden early on, but they weren’t serious. But Biden came into office with the dark cloud of his $1 billion Ukraine quid pro quo hanging over him, and House Republicans followed the breadcrumbs to a trove of evidence that made it impossible not to launch

The All In Podcast, which is hosted by David Sacks, Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, and David Friedberg, posted an interview they did with Elon Musk at the All In Summit. During the interview, Musk noted that, in the past, social media has all been “very left-leaning to far left-leaning,” suspending Republicans far more than leftists. He also expressed his goal of changing that online monopoly. The X owner and billionaire said that “The suspensions of several Republican candidates, interests, or voices were at least ten times the rate of—suppression of left-wing voices.”

One source familiar with the matter told CNN that Zelensky is expected to travel to Washington, DC, after his stop in New York. Biden and Zelensky are both scheduled to address the assembly on Tuesday. Zelensky is planning to use an in-person appearance at the annual meeting to appeal for more support for Ukraine as it continues to wage a counteroffensive against Russia.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) is looking into opening taxpayer-funded, city-owned grocery stores in areas in which businesses have pulled out due to rampant crime. Johnson announced a partnership with the Economic Security Project to look into the possibility of opening city-owned grocery stores. The first step in the partnership will be to perform a feasibility study, but the city did not provide a timeline, the Chicago Tribune reported. Johnson claimed his administration is “committed to advancing innovative, whole-of-government approaches to address these inequities.”

Former Vice President Mike Pence said he'd be open to having a female vice president- but wouldn't say if he'd dine with her alone. Pence appeared at a town hall with Leland Vittert on NewsNation Wednesday and was asked about his much-talked-about deal the Republican struck with his wife Karen to never dine alone with another woman. Vittert then asked if that same rule would apply with a woman vice president - as presidents and vice presidents often have official lunches as part of their schedule.

Every book published prior to 2008 has been removed from a public high school library in Canada to ensure that kids are not exposed to non-inclusivity. Yes, you read that correctly. Imagine the surprise of students at Erindale Secondary School in Mississauga, Ontario, when they entered the school's library last spring to discover...empty shelves. Staff told them, "If the shelves look emptier right now it's because we have to remove all books [published] prior to 2008." Why? Because "The Peel District School Board works to ensure that the books available in our school libraries are culturally responsive, relevant, inclusive,

Wednesday's Cabinet meeting was most interesting. After a minute of introduction, President Biden turned the meeting over to his wife Jill, who continued to run it. This allows us a glimpse into the Democrat presidential strategy for 2024: run Jill Biden. In order for Jill to win the Democrat nomination for president, she needs to do several important things: 1. Box out Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama, and Gavin Newsom. 2. Maintain DNC support for Joe. 3. Keep Democrat contributors in line. 4. Do more and more of the president's job now.

Apparently, the geniuses in Dove’s marketing department were unaware of the backlash that cost Bud Light and Target billions of dollars in market value earlier this year when they rolled out Zyahna Bryant for a “fat liberation” campaign despite her history of making false racial accusations.
