A prominent scholar and University of California, Riverside professor, who claimed to be Native American, has resigned after 13 faculty members accused her of false claims of Native identity that violated academic integrity. In an ironic twist, professor Andrea Smith once criticized white feminists for pretending to be Native Americans. She wrote, “They do this by opting to ‘become Indian.’ In this way, they can escape responsibility and accountability for white racism.”

The article describes her as a "prominent scholar" and that her area is Ethnic Studies. When I was a student we poked fun at Home Economics. This is one of the reasons why college is so expensive.

Sooo . . how much 'Indian blood' does it require to be Indian? I have one Indian ancestor from 10 generations back (really) - does that make me an Indian? BTW -You've probably heard of her. Her name was Matoaka, nicknamed Pocahontas. So am I an Indian? Or do you have to be enrolled? I have another great-great grandmother who was a Choctaw, at least she said she was. She missed the deadline for enrollment and was denied. So am I an Indian? I've never claimed to be, but heck . . . I've more claim than any of the liars who have used it for personal advancement.

Another Rachael Dolezal. Another Lizzie Warren. What's with these so called 1st Nation wannabes? It must be a Democrat trait. Claim another's race for financial benefit. In this case Andrea speak with forked tongue.

What, you can claim to be any one of 265 genders or furry animals but you can't claim to be a Native American? What kind of freedom of identity is that? I'm pretty good with a bow, have slept in many tents and I can start a fire with flint, does that count?

Many historians believe that the first people in this country were Asians who crossed the land bridge into North America. If true, no one is native american.

The headline sure doesn’t match the agreement. She gets to teach for a whole ‘nother year plus other stupid stuff. I’m surprised they’re not throwing her a parade.

#6, I believe most tribes require a minimum of 1/8th ancestry for membership. You could always get a DNA test.

She should lose her accrued pension (if only the 15 years stated in the article would be at a minimum 15 x 2% = 30% of her highest pay), but they must have something to hide or they would not have agreed to the following:
FTA:
The separation agreement includes a stipulation that avoids an investigation into the complaint.
Smith can continue working at the university, where she will still be allowed to teach classes, until August 2024. The professor will also retain her retirement benefits, and will have the honorary emeritus title, but that status will not be listed in the school’s directory.
University of California, Riverside will also pay up to $5,000 toward her legal costs of resolving the complaint.
Meanwhile, some Native scholars have pointed out that Smith has not acknowledged her deception, and that the university has allowed the professor to avoid taking any accountability for her actions by agreeing to not look into the matter.

She resigned - not because she is a fraud, but because she got blackballed by her fellow cult members. The Left eating its own offers a tiny offset compared to the wreckage they inflict.
