It may be August of 2023, but the media still can’t quit COVID alarmism. The latest COVID freak out came on Wednesday’s CNN This Morning as the assembled cast wondered whether it was time to bring back masks. Co-host Poppy Harlow got things started by asking, “With COVID cases rising, some people are masking up. You have probably seen that in your neighborhood, work, etcetera. What does it mean for you and what does it mean for people at higher risk of severe illness?” She then introduced chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and asked, “I keep thinking this,

Four fifths of New Yorkers say the recent influx of migrants is a 'serious problem' for the state, with many calling newcomers a 'burden' and souring on President Joe Biden's Democratic Party.
Fully 82 percent of Empire State voters said the stream of some 100,000 asylum seekers was a concern, and more than half of them — 54 percent — said it was 'very serious,' a Siena College poll shows.
When asked about the settling of migrants in New York these past two decades, nearly half of respondents — 46 percent — called them a 'burden' on resources. Less than a third called them a 'benefit.'

All eyes will be on Milwaukee tonight for the first Republican presidential primary debate. Despite more than eight years of brazen attacks on his opponents since riding down the golden escalator to announce his candidacy in 2015, Donald Trump has decided to sit out this debate. Unsurprisingly, the twice-impeached and now four-time indicted ex-president is, first and foremost, a swampy politician who won’t risk getting rhetorically pummeled by one of his challengers....As former Labor Secretary Robert Reich wrote in an essay last month, Bidenomics “is turning out to be the most successful set of economic policies the United States has witnessed in a half-century.”

FBI lovebird Peter Strzok has a special little cold spot for President Trump, and not just because he got fired for unprofessional behavior on while on the government's dime during Trump's term of office.
He hates the guy insanely, enough to plot against him with his famous "insurance policy" as he told the FBI official he was having an affair with, and all one needs to do to see it now is to look through the convoluted logic of his Trump-hating tweets. His banner picture at the top of his Twitter account features legal indictment papers of Trump.
So he tweeted this one:

Hawaii Democrat Governor Josh Green took to “Face the Nation” Sunday to agree with host Margaret Brennan’s assertion that climate change “amplified” Maui’s horrific wildfires. However, there were multiple failures on many fronts by authorities, including warning sirens that didn’t go off, delays of much-needed water because of “equity concerns,” negligence by a power company, and disaster officials who had no experience in emergency management. Green: "GOVERNOR JOSH GREEN: So it's usually tsunamis and hurricanes [that are a danger to Hawaii]. For perspective, we've had six fire emergencies this August. We had six fire emergencies between 1953 and 2003. That's how -- how fast things are changing.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc.’s stock tumbled 22% Tuesday, after the retailer’s second-quarter profit missed consensus by a wide margin, while sales also fell short., and the company squarely blamed theft for its woes.
It was the company’s first earnings miss in three years. The last time Dick’s missed profit and sales consensus was in April of 2020, when it was reporting first-quarter earnings for that year.
“While we posted another double-digit EBT margin, our Q2 profitability was short of our expectations due in large part to the impact of elevated inventory shrink, an increasingly serious issue impacting many retailers,” said CEO Lauren Hobart in a statement.

A summer surge of COVID-19 has some wondering aloud if we should return to mask mandates. For now, the official line, despite the media effort to rekindle coronavirus hysteria, is that it’s unlikely. But we heard that before, in 2020, right before public health officials dropped their mask tyranny on us. If they do it again, we have an obligation to say no.
Are we calling for civil disobedience? Are we suggesting that Americans resist orders that are not laws but are instead decrees issued by despots? Absolutely, and without reservation.
Masks are dehumanizing.

Former President Donald Trump is displaying his "sense of entitlement" by deciding to not participate in the 2024 GOP presidential primary debates, according to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Trump announced in a Truth Social post on Sunday that he would "not be doing" any of the Republican debates, while boasting that "the public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had." The former president previously indicated that he would be skipping the first debate, which is set to take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Wednesday.
The decision to skip the debates quickly drew condemnation from Trump critics

The Obama family’s “beloved” personal chef, Tafari Campbell, died of accidental drowning while paddleboarding in a Martha’s Vineyard lake, an autopsy confirmed Tuesday. Campbell’s cause of death has officially been ruled to be “submersion in a body of water” — and his manner of death has been determined to be an accident, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Massachusetts. The results of Campbell’s autopsy have not been made public as per state policy, Timothy McGuirk, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, told the Washington Post.

Left-wing activist and Harvard prodigy David Hogg said he would "much rather own a Porsche and have a Portuguese water dog and golden doodle" than have children because it's "better for the environment," comments that reflect a broad consensus among college-educated liberals whose mental health has markedly declined since 2016. "I'm never planning on having kids," Hogg wrote in a bizarre Twitter thread. (snip) Having children these days is like owning a boat, Hogg suggested before outlining his vision for a terrifying future of childless decadence. (snip) This is the future liberals want -

As RedState reported, President Joe Biden finally made it to Maui, having left his second vacation of the month to make a half-day trip to the island. That comes after devastating fires left over a hundred people confirmed dead with nearly a thousand still missing, including what is assumed to be many children.
From the moment Biden touched down, it was apparent that he wasn't taking the situation seriously (if he even knew why he was there), and once he started to speak, things only got worse.
In his first public appearance, the president decided to joke about how hot the ground was. He also brought up the death
