West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin on Monday defended his flirtation with a third-party presidential campaign, telling voters at a No Labels forum at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire that he had no plans to play “spoiler” in the 2024 election.
“I’ve never been in any race I’ve ever spoiled. I’ve been in races to win,” Manchin said. “And if I get in a race, I’m going to win.”
Sitting beside former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, a Republican, Manchin railed against withering bipartisanship in Washington, DC, saying the “business model” of the two major parties “is better if you’re divided.” Huntsman offered a similar critique,

Surprise! Well … kinda, anyway. Donald Trump already faces an indictment from special counsel Jack Smith over obstruction and mishandling of classified material in federal court, but that wasn’t Smith’s initial focus. At the time when the dispute over the records erupted, Smith already had been tasked with investigating the January 6 riot at the Capitol as a potential criminal conspiracy.According to Trump, that shoe has finally dropped — or will shortly:

For most Americans, “Mom” evokes images of kindness, courage, sympathy and love. Likewise, “liberty” calls up concepts like individual rights, freedom of expression, equality and justice. Yet, the perversity of the current political environment is such that a parental rights group whose name combines these two words has been demonized by Democrats, the media and the left. Just recently, a New Hampshire Democrat denounced the group as “A**holes with casseroles,” the Hill ran a story titled, “Six reasons why Moms for Liberty is an extremist organization,” and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) added them to its Hate Map.

Joe Biden made several of the wrong sorts of headlines during his recent trip to England and then to the NATO summit. First, there were the awkward interactions between the President, the Welsh Guards, and King Charles III. Then there were more bad visuals during the summit in Vilnius. As Karen already discussed yesterday, one of the agenda items that had a lot of people talking was Biden’s decision to skip the leadership dinner and return to his hotel room in Lithuania. A few different reasons were offered for that. There was the public excuse given by his staff who said that the

For colleges and libraries seeking a boldfaced name for a guest lecturer, few come bigger than Sonia Sotomayor, the Supreme Court justice who rose from poverty in the Bronx to the nation’s highest court. She has benefited, too — from schools’ purchases of hundreds, sometimes thousands, of the books she has written over the years.
Sotomayor’s staff has often prodded public institutions that have hosted the justice to buy her memoir or children’s books, works that have earned her at least $3.7 million since she joined the court in 2009. Details of those events, largely out of public view, were obtained by The Associated Press through more than 100 open records

The First Amendment is under assault by the very people entrusted to protect it. The Biden administration and the corporate media removed any doubt about this after a July 4 ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Terry A. Doughty. Evidence revealed during the discovery process in Missouri v. Biden convinced the judge that administration officials illegally pressured social media platforms to censor disfavored views. Doughty issued a 155-page opinion and an injunction prohibiting federal officials from “pressuring or coercing social-media companies in any manner to remove, delete, suppress, or reduce posted content of postings containing protected free speech.”

During a press briefing on Friday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre scolded a reporter for asking a question. She told Caitlin Doornbos, a reporter with the New York Post, that her question about the baggie of cocaine found in the West Wing was “incredibly irresponsible.’Take a look at what happened.(Snip for Tweet)KJP said the Biden family was not at the White House on Friday. Yes, they were. They didn’t leave the White House until late Friday afternoon. This is a headline that you could pull up from the archives over the past twenty years or more. Just swap out the names and a couple of office titles and the stories seem indistinguishable from one another. Friends and associates of a high-ranking elected official in New York State or New York City have been indicted on campaign finance corruption charges. This time it’s a group of associates of New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Six of his cronies, some of whom previously served with him in the NYPD, have been indicted over a scheme where they allegedly set up straw donors to funnel money into the Mayor’s

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, President Biden falsely claimed that Russia is at war with Iraq. Russia is at war with Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is “clearly losing the war in Iraq,” Biden told the press pool, “losing the war at home. And he has become a bit of a pariah around the world.”
On Tuesday, during an unrelated fundraising event in Chevy Chase, Md., Biden made the exact same slip-up, mistaking Ukraine for Iraq.
“If anybody told you … that we’d be able to bring all of Europe together in the onslaught on Iraq and get NATO to be completely united,” the president said,

Joe Biden is Inspector Jacques Clouseau.
We don’t know whether to laugh (Clouseau) or cry (Biden). In fantasy, Clouseau bumbled his way to success. In reality, Biden is a failure; worse, a danger to himself and to others. He is America’s nightmare, more hazardous to the world than climate change.
The dark comedy of Biden’s mental decay/physical decline is evidenced daily when his caretakers let him out, after dosing his secret, volatile medication. Sleep apnea, previously undisclosed, is the latest alibi for his dysfunction. His medical records are no more transparent than Hunter Biden’s tax returns, and the president’s doctor won’t come clean.

As expected, the Supreme Court ruled on Friday that President Biden doesn’t have the constitutional authority to “forgive” $430 billion in student loan debt. The decision, written by Chief Justice Roberts, drove the point home by quoting former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s 2021 statement regarding Biden’s power to do so without the consent of Congress: “People think that the President of the United States has the power for debt forgiveness. He does not.” Yet, Biden defiantly insisted Friday afternoon that the Court’s decision was wrong and that he plans to keep pushing for his massive giveaway scheme under the aegis of the Higher Education Act (HEA).

Republican Kentucky Rep. James Comer alleged the Biden family has taken in more than $40 million from foreign entities, observing Wednesday the president is “compromised.”
During an interview on the “Cats and Cosby Show,” Comer told hosts John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby that the investigation into the Biden family’s financial dealings has revealed “19 shell companies,” that were seemingly created for the sole purpose to launder money from foreign entities to at least nine members of the president’s family. In the past five days, Comer stated, more bank records have come in revealing “more bank accounts, more shell companies and more Biden’s.”
