An Iowa state senator who’d previously endorsed Donald Trump is flipping his support toRon DeSantis just days after the former president attacked Iowa’s popular Republican governor, Kim Reynolds. Jeff Reichman, who is serving his first term in the state Senate, announced on Thursday that he is defecting to the Florida governor’s presidential campaign. In a statement, Reichman singled out praise for Reynolds, who Trump has targeted for her warmness toward DeSantis, his main rival for the GOP nomination. “Iowa Republicans must be united if we are going to take our country back and reverse Joe Biden’s failures,” Reichman said in a statement. “Gov. DeSantis has achieved the same type of commonsense

Though this may not be a serious defection, it is the result of an unforced error on the part of President Trump. Just a little more self-discipline and a little less shooting-from-the-lip could accomplish so much. Please, Mr. President! For the sake of the country you love so much, dial it down a bit.

No # 4, Trump is not doing "just fine". He is talking and acting like a swaggering jerkoff who is fueled by anger and a gargantuan sense of entitlement. Not a recipe for victory.

One person close to the insulted governor does not a trend make. We know who Trump is. He has good points and bad points. He cannot change. I personally am a bit tired of him claiming that he puts various politicians over the top in their election bids. Kim Reynolds would have won even if he had savaged her. If he's so good at getting people elected why don't we have senator from Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, New Hampshire. His support is great in the primaries and garbage in the general.

How do you expect to win an election when the people who voted for you before are not going to vote for you now? Could it be you’ve lost their votes because you’ve called them losers and disloyal? I really don’t understand why Trump isn’t trying to widen his base instead of trashing so many of the people in his party. Oh, I guess I forgot, they are just Rino losers, and he doesn’t need their votes. In the meantime, my state is busy making sure Trump loses here again.

Sound of Freedom is once again shocking the box office with expectations of reaching nearly $23 million in its second weekend in theaters. The film grossed more than $7 million on Friday, putting it on pace to finish the weekend with $81 million and to break $100 million in gross receipts, according to box office reports. Sound of Freedom continues to beat Sony Pictures Insidious: The Red Door overall, in addition to besting Disney’s latest Indiana Jones film on a daily basis for nearly a week. The movie, which is distributed by Angel Studios, details

A federal judge in Oregon ruled on Friday that a new state gun law does not violate the US Constitution, keeping one of the toughest gun laws in the country in place. US District Court Judge Karin Immergut ruled that Ballot Measure 114’s restrictions on large-capacity magazines that hold more than 10 rounds are constitutional because these magazines are “not commonly used for self-defense, and are therefore not protected by the Second Amendment.” “Even if LCMs are protected by the Second Amendment, BM 114’s restrictions are consistent with this Nation’s history and tradition of regulating uniquely dangerous features of weapons and firearms to protect public safety,” the ruling said.

We’ve seen how companies like Bud Light and Target have taken a severe hit for the various ways in which they have bought into the woke mind virus. Bud Light has now even been hit by the Costco “Death Star,” which means they’re in deep trouble. Speaking of trouble, let’s look at Disney. A week ago, I wrote about how Disney had lost almost a billion dollars by going woke on some of their recent films. Megyn Kelly laid out some of that evidence showing that we’re winning against the woke when it comes to Disney, too. She explained how they lost about $900 million

Longshot Democratic presidential candidate and conspiracy theorist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Saturday morning disputed a report that quoted him saying Covid-19 was “targeted to attack Caucasians and Black people” and that Jewish people are most immune. In a report by the New York Post titled “RFK Jr. says COVID was ‘ethnically targeted’ to spare Jews,” video appears to show Kennedy speaking at a dinner in Manhattan. In a discussion on bioweapons and “ethnically targeted microbes,” Kennedy claimed that “Covid-19 attacks certain races disproportionately.” “Covid-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and Black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese,” he said, according to the video

In mid-February, we reported that Fulton County (Georgia) Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ordered a limited release of excerpts from a special grand jury’s report on former President Donald Trump and his associates’ alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia: The probe’s objective was to look into Trump’s alleged attempts to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election in the Peach State. The report was scant on details, but in one section, jurors expressed concerns over perjury on the part of some of the witnesses. Later that month, Bonchie wrote about Emily Kohrs, a member of that special grand jury, giving interviews to NBC News and CNN.

Iowa was, for a long time, a political swing state. Speaking as one who grew up there and lived there until my 26th year, and most of whose family still lives in Iowa, I can say with some confidence that Iowa is a place of great momentum. In small towns and rural areas like the one I grew up in, not much changes from generation to generation. Not industries, not farming practices, not families. But Iowa is an important state politically, mostly due to its status as the opening bell for presidential primaries. Note Tucker Carlson’s recent series of interviews with various GOP POTUS candidates – in Iowa.

Tucker got the ball rolling by asking DeSantis if he would favor legislation banning abortions after the sixth week of pregnancy, similar to the law he recently signed in his own state: I’m proud to be a pro-life governor, and I will be a pro-life president, and of course, I want to sign pro-life legislation… We need to develop a culture of life in this country.

Another day, another example of Disney’s substituting a political message for creativity. This example is from The Daily Mail, which puts a bit more meat on the bone regarding the already controversial live-action remake of “Snow White and the 7 Dwarves.” The earlier controversy stems from Disney’s self-conscious hire of a Latina actress to play Snow White–an example of the fact that race-swapping is perfectly acceptable when doing so displaces a White actor, but “cultural appropriation” when a White actor plays a non-White character. I found the earlier controversy to be an example of the tedious character of these racial debates because sometimes it matters–race swapping in JRR Tolkien stories makes no sense–while

The Biden administration announced Friday that it would forgive $39 billion in student loans for 804,000 borrowers, explaining it had pursued certain fixes to existing income-driven-repayment plans. “For far too long, borrowers fell through the cracks of a broken system that failed to keep accurate track of their progress towards forgiveness,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a written statement. These income-driven plans set a forgiveness threshold of 20 or 25 years. Borrowers must make payments that qualify over this period — payments that can be as low as $0 based on an individual’s income and family situation. “By fixing past administrative failures, we are ensuring everyone gets the forgiveness they deserve,

If, like me, you find the presidential debate format a rather meaningless exercise, you will be astonished at what one-on-one interviews by a skilled interrogator can accomplish. At the Iowa family Leader conference, Tucker Carlson interviewed several leading contenders for president Tim Scott, Asa Hutchinson, Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Ron DeSantis. If the participants thought this was going to be another tongue bath, they were certainly surprised. He asked hard questions and some of their answers exposed their muddled thinking. At least two of them – Asa Hutchinson and Mike Pence -- were clear losers

The supporters of former President Trump are absolutely correct about one thing. If every single Republican pledged their allegiance to him and fell in line he’d win the nomination easily. But he’d also lose the general election, again. He does not receive enough support from outside the traditional Republican and MAGA base to win in 2024. Hillary Clinton beat Trump by roughly 3 million in the popular vote in 2016. While Trump indeed did win the election by taking the required 270 electoral votes, just a few thousand votes in each of the key swing states would have changed that outcome into a Hillary Clinton landslide victory in 2016.

Recently, Arizona Republican Eli Crane was rebuked for referring to “people of color” as “colored people.” That’s a controversy which would, at any other time in the history of the English language, be incomprehensible to a sensible reader. After all, there’s no practical difference in the phrases. In fact, the choice to give preference to the phrase “people of color” is worse than practically useless to an English speaker -- it’s needlessly more burdensome to both the talker and the listener. Consider this formula with any other trait. Would you refer to yourself as a “person of dark hair,” or a “dark-haired person?”
