If you’re wondering who Republican voters want to see square off in next year’s presidential primaries, it’s probably no big secret. As the latest polling data from I&I/TIPP show, a solid majority of registered GOP voters and independents who lean Republican, or Republican primary voters, say they want to see former President Donald Trump and current Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis duke it out on the primary trail.
In the latest poll, taken of 1,155 registered voters from Feb. 1-3, 397 were identified as GOP primary voters. They were asked to respond to the following statement: “I would like to see a primary contest between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.”

We won't get one.
Remember when 17 GOP candidates were asked if they'd support whoever the GOP eventually nominated?
16 raised their hands.
Not Trump.
And now, Rona McDaniels is making saying "YES" a condition to be in any RNC debate.

I really don't see the benefit of the republicans setting up their usual circular firing squad. DeSantis and Trump are cut from the same piece of cloth and should unite to form a strong front against the democrats and RINOs that are the real enemy. Reply #1 is the real answer.

It appears DeSantis and Trump are advocating similar policies with different styles. Therefore, it would actually be a debate primarily focused on style because there is little difference in policy. It would appear that the best course of action for the country would be for them to unite. We know Trump has the base locked up. DeSantis has the support of the GOP elites who we know hate Trump and are most likely supporting DeSantis for one reason to get rid of Trump. They do not like that they cannot control Trump and know he will do everything in his power to offer policies that are geared to put the American worker first, not the corporate elites. Want to really destroy the rot in the country, Ron, partner with Trump. It seems like the logical thing to do. This is no time to walk away from the guy with the proven track record who has a solid base that is committed to him. Why fight that fight when you can unite and fight the true enemies of this country?
For all of you who believe winning the base over is going to be easy, think again. This is no time to attempt to destroy the guy who created a movement that has finally given rise to the voices of millions of Americans who have been promised so much and delivered so little. Also, those who would tell you that a robust debate between Republican candidates in this political climate is healthy is wrong. Now more than ever, we have to unite and frankly as good as DeSantis looks, the only ones who want a contentious primary, are fools. If a battered nominee goes into the general, we are toast which is exactly what the GOPe and democrats want. This is not your granddaddy’s election process anymore. The deck is stacked, we all know it, and it is crucial that our nominee has as much support as possible going into the presidential campaign. There is no way DeSantis will sew up the base and his supporters know this. All they want is to create a divide because protecting the status quo is their goal. They would rather lose with DeSantis than win with Trump.
DeSantis’s decision will tell you if he is man enough to defeat the scourge that has had control of the party until Trump came along. We have to defeat them in order to save the country. You can’t trust them, rely on them, and give them any power whatsoever if you want to restore this country and get the corruption out of Washington. Just look at DeSantis’s donors and supporters. If you want to continue in the manner of the Bush, Cheney, Rove, Ryan, Club for Growth, Chamber of Commerce then Ron’s your man. If you want to put this country and its people first, Donald Trump, is your guy. What is it going to be? Proven substantive achievements against all odds, or someone beholden to the same elites who for decades have failed the country and its people.

I've read that the President and VP can't
reside in the same state. Is that true? Somebody would have to move. Can't be DeSantis as Governor.

No, no, no. We want Trump. We don't want a split. It's the DNC that wants Trump and DeSantis to "Duke it out". There is nothing more the DNC wants than to fracture the conservative base. That's why these BS polls and articles are popping up so early. DeSantis can run in 2028. He's young and Florida wants him to complete his full term as Governor.

I think DeSantis is going to run. He has been meeting with Donors (a sure sign), so we might as well decide it's going to happen. I would hope BOTH Trump, and DeSantis, will NOT beat up the Other so that neither of them comes out as a Strong Nominee for the Party. If they debate without being Savage about it, Both of them will come out Viable to be President. DO NOT give the Democrats Ammo to use against Our Nominee! These are Smart, Accomplished Grown men. They should know the Debates should focus on the reason THEY should be President, not on why the Other should NOT be President! I would Love a Trump/DeSantis Ticket. It make the most sense, but it's not looking likely!

I am confident the GOP will manage to screw up 2024 just like 2022. The egos and the money are too large to merely run for the Country's sake. At least in trumps' case it is only ego.

Gov DeSantis still has a job to do here in FL and he needs another term to do it. Speaking purely from selfishness, I want him in Tallahassee.
From another perspective, he would be wasted as a VP - it's just a waiting room for a possible POTUS position. Other than that, there's no effective policy that the VP can make, and then they turn into Mike Pence and are forgotten.

Strange that the RNC continues to send out those surveys that list at least 20 of their favorites for 2024. We have two good choices, the democrats haven't had a decent choice in this century or most of the last but they seem to keep winning. That's an indication that the republicans have been doing something wrong for a long time.

No, that is what the Demon-Rats want!!!!
A nasty primary battle between Trump and DeSantis will just end up leaving Trump with mud all over him (and lots of free political commercial fodder for the Demon-Rats), and it will leave DeSantis marked as a "loser" if Trump beats him for the nomination (which is highly probable). It would be the worst thing for both of them.

We love Gov. DeSantis and want him to continue to lead in Florida. We love Pres.Trump and want him back in the White House. We do not like any infighting... and are praying that America can return to Greatness!

I like them both.
But I want to know what Trump will do differently to drain the swamp. It drained him last term. Is he, or can he, move whole departments out of DC or fire the top five layers of management? Can he eliminate the FBI, CIA, or other deep state entities by Executive Order?
How will both ensure honest elections when the states and Democrats work to subvert them?

I want to see Governor Ron pass on this presidential contest and stay here in FL where we need him. He would be WASTED in the vice presidency.
Besides, I don't think that Trump - or any Republican - can win a national election. With six key swing states locked up for the Dems through institutionalized Democrap corruption, what viable path to 270 EV's* is there for any Republican?
* That's electoral votes, NOT those damned electric vehicles

The Promise; One term Trump, with DeSantis as VP, administration, followed by another two more under DeSantis . Likely outcome: Demonrats win because the GOP will sunder itself into two opposing factions crippling each other. .
