I've already written an email to John Cornyn and also called his phone for "time sensitive issues." Some office staff person answered the phone. After I talked with him for a few minutes, he read me a prepared statement justifying the vote. It was all the same blah blah blah I've come to expect from Cornyn. My response was that I was positively SURE that Cornyn hadn't read the 4000+ pages, and he is a COWARD for voting like he did without bothering to read the bill. I am truly furious with these yahoos. This is supposed to be the season of Hope and Joy........

Unfortunately the wimpy Republicans have enough RINOS who are always ready to cross the aisle to cave and go along with the aggressive Democrats to pass Democrat designed legislation for a few crumbs. Notice that the Democrats don’t have such problems and would not stand for them if they arise.

I'm disappointed that Tom Cotton voted "yes" for this. No one had enough time to read this so-called "spending package." There's much more in there than spending. This is no way to run a government. Congress is irresponsible and does not appear to give a damn. I fear for our futures.

Sundance has it right. The RNC is a corporation that puts its financial status as far more important than serving the interests of their political base, much less the American public. Unless there is a dramatic shift in leadership of the RNC, and by that I mean the removal of Ronna Romney McDaniel, Mitch McConnell and the too many to name RINOs in the Senate The Democrats and the media will see their goal of the elimination of Republican party realized. Mainly because the Republicans didn't do what they promised.

President Trump is right. The majority of elected representatives in Washington DC hate him because he is standing in their way of this globalization madness. The American people are being punished because the vast majority of us want nothing to do with this treachery. The government is really after us but he and a few conservatives stand in their way which makes out options extremely limited. The surveillance of us and election chicanery have all but prevented any opposition. I cannot believe that anyone with two brain cells to rub together and in good conscience could approve of this monstrosity. The Uniparty just does not care about the people in this country. We are seriously like The Hunger Games without the games, yet. Our government is more corrupt that ever before and the men and women who founded this great nation would be appalled at where it has gone. You can bet if they were alive today, they would be planning an American Revolution 2.0 and these traitors to the concept of government they fought and died to create would be dealt with swiftly. It is a disgrace what democrat, republicans, the media, and the rest of the fools who believe these massive giveaways are legitimate have done. With the surveillance system the government has in place, these traitors are confident in their ability to keep us in line. Our government in its present state is broken. We either fix it or become wards of the state.

On first inspection, Peru and China, 11,000 miles apart, appear to have very little in common. However, the two countries share a very close history. As the academic Justina Hwang has noted, in the space of 25 years, between 1849 and 1874, more than 100,000 unskilled workers, many of them from China, arrived in Peru. Having recently abolished slavery, Peru was amid a worker shortage. This allowed “the importation of an indentured workforce of Chinese laborers in order to meet Peruvian need for labor,” (snip) (snip) Peru is home to around 60,000 Chinese people. Some researchers suggest that the Chinese community is much higher, possibly exceeding 1 million.

Russia’s government spokesmen and diplomats responded scathingly to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s brief visit to Washington, DC, on Wednesday, mocking it as a “Hollywood-style trip” and claiming it confirmed America’s resolve to engage in a “proxy war” with Moscow. Zelensky arrived in D.C. as lawmakers mull over an end-of-year omnibus spending bill that would grant his government $45 billion in humanitarian and weapons aid, potentially bringing the total American taxpayers’ dollars spent on Ukraine this year to upwards of $110 billion. While some Republicans have questioned the wisdom of such an expense, Zelensky was greeted warmly in Congress on Wednesday evening, receiving bipartisan applause.

Democrat Senators defeated the Senate GOP’s plan to preserve the Title 42 border barrier by offering a fig-leaf Title 42 plan that would have accelerated the inflow of migrants. The amendment, prepared by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT), was defeated by 87 votes to 10 votes after pro-migration groups opposed any changes to the 2023 omnibus bill. If the amendment had passed, it might have caused the entire bill to be defeated in the House. The Democrat amendment worked because it gave political cover to nine Democrat Senators to justify their vote against the GOP Title 42 amendment.

If, as some recent polls suggest, Florida’s popular governor, Ron DeSantis, is able to mount a serious primary challenge to former President Trump, it will be because the governor understands political power is meant to be used. If DeSantis runs and wins, it will be because he persuaded Republican voters that he will be a more effective leader than Trump — not because he repudiated the former president’s policies or followers. The governor’s appeal is founded on his use of power. In this, he contrasts with the many conservatives who, upon gaining power, tend to be like the dog who caught the car — unsure what to do with it.
