It's time to end lame-duck sessions of Congress

Original Article

We often despair that neither party represents the interests of fiscal discipline these days, or even competent and accountable governance. It’s clearly too much to ask that we get to a balanced budget, since we haven’t even seen one attempted in nearly 30 years — and even that used budgetary gimmicks. Without a constitutional amendment, Congress will never budget properly within the limits of national revenue, and without an Article V convention, we won’t get an amendment that requires it. As for competent and accountable governance, that will likely require an Article V convention as well.

Mitch McConnell delayed the selection of a Supreme Court justice for several months until after a presidential election. Why could he not approve an interim budget and wait until a new Congress arrives in less than 30 days? Intentionally killing America is the only reason I can see as his goal.

Absolutely. Once all the elections are settled the new congress is in power. So that would mean that a couple years after the election a new congress would finally get in power. Actually the day after the election congress should no longer have any power. Oh heck even that won't work considering the extent of Democrat cheating. I give up. I have no solution. But lame duck congress should not be allowed.

We have to have a lame duck Congress in order for those newly elected reps to get to D. C. by horseback or train .

Let's just disband congress and have the governors of each state send representatives for one year at a time. And, the reps need to remain in their home state and legislate via some high security version of Zoom or Teams. Also, a committee of citizens should be put together to investigate and judge the punishment for all cheating, lying, demonic legislatures. Their retirements should be revoked, and they should be made to pay back every dime of taxpayer money they, their children, and "loved" ones have stolen from US.

It's a snowball rolling downhill. If they had their way, the few smart people in government would set aside a large portion of the income to the Treasury to pay off a piece of the national debt each year but the government could not get elected by denying the majority of the parasite class that they have created all of the goodies that they have come to expect. The end result is perpetual growth of the debt until the whole bubble bursts. Imagine if you ran your household like the government does. You would be homeless in no time.

Update: After the publication of this story, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer announced the House will vote on the omnibus package on Friday: Congress is bracing for a long, cold winter night in Washington, DC, as outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is determined to pass the Democrats’ $1.7 trillion omnibus spending plan before lawmakers leave town for Christmas. As the nation braces for a winter storm that is expected to bring freezing temperatures to a large portion of the United States, Pelosi is hopeful that the bloated spending bill will be passed on Thursday night following its passage in the Senate earlier in the day. Per Punchbowl News, Pelosi explained that the 4,155-page,

President Joe Biden delivered a Christmas address on Thursday but did not speak the name of “Jesus” or “Christ.” “How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is given,” Biden began, as he delivered his address to reporters at the White House. The president spoke about a “child” born on Christmas but did not speak the child’s name. “We look to the sky to a lone star, shining brighter than all the rest guiding us to the birth of a child, a child that Christians believe to be the Son of God,” he said. Biden also spoke several times about the “light” and “peace” at the heart of Christmas.

But no more. President Joe Biden's election and America's subsequent mass migration crisis has bestowed such fabulous riches upon these criminal organizations that traditional drug trafficking is no longer the only prize worth dying for.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Thursday morning announced an agreement to advance the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill before Christmas weekend. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Democrats have been working to pass the omnibus bill before a self-imposed deadline of Thursday to avoid a shutdown at midnight on Friday. But negotiations become sticky after Sen. Mike Lee’s (R-UT) Title 42 amendment threw a wrench in the Senate process. As a result, many critics of the deal were hopeful Congress would be forced to pass a short-term spending resolution (CR) to keep the government open, pending a continued standoff between Democrats on Lee’s amendment.

Add yet another government overreach to the “Things You Didn’t Think Could Happen in America” file: Democrats on the lame-duck House and Ways and Means Committee voted Tuesday to release six years of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns. Why? Because they um, uh—because they want to? But wait, you say to yourself, that’s not possible; your tax returns are private by federal law, and therefore protected from release. The Dems of course found a sleazy way around that. The tax code allows the committee to look at people’s tax returns to provide “oversight” of the Internal Revenue Service, and by writing an official report on their findings,

The US military may get woker. A new report has advised the US Marine Corps to no longer use “gendered terms” such as “Yes Sir or Yes Ma’am”. The new academic report stemmed from research conducted by the University of Pittsburgh that was directly commissioned by the Marine Corps. The report claims the Marine Corps is behind other branches of the military when it comes to using gender identifiers. The report also states the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard have, for the most part, gotten rid of gender identifiers such as “Sir” and “Ma’am” but instead address drill instructors by their rank and last name.
