One thing I dislike immensely about republican punditry, specifically as it relates to internal dynamics, is their tribal narrative engineering. The example from Breitbart about President Trump’s discussion of the next speaker of the House is a case study.
Take out Matthey Boyle’s woven narrative; and remind yourself that Boyle is writing from a position of DeSantis advocacy; read just the direct quotes from President Trump about the risk of House Speaker if the party doesn’t align to support Kevin McCarthy, and the position is pragmatic.
Essentially, if not Kevin McCarthy, and the House vote is dependent on Democrat support, the result will likely be worse.

It will not matter if the Republicans do nothing.

I can't imagine Scalise being "Worse" than McCarthy. If I had a Vote, I would certainly vote for Steve! I think Trump is making a mistake taking sides in picking a new Speaker!

As long as no Republican votes for a Democrat, I am not seeing a problem of not voting for McCarthy. We are always told by the GOPe we will lose, if we vote for a conservative. Then, after caving, we lose by voting for the GOPe, because we get nothing we want.

Republicans have refined their circular firing squad into a fine-tuned machine. More Republican scorched earth. Don't see the Democrats doing this. I don't trust any reporting on Trump anymore. Trump is an outsider, and consequentially carries very little weight inside Washington.

McConnel was a terrible choice too. We ALWAYS lose with him. He must like being the minority. He talks tuff but NEVER does to the dems what THEY do to us. They have ALL left the J6 political prisoners to rot. When re they going to put the dems in that jail? Let the political prisoners be the guards and starve and isolate them for awhile. But repubs are ALWAYS polite and follow the rules. Kind of like the British soldiers who walked in a column dressed in red and a group and got shot by the men -with a pair. THAT is how we won.

We are akin to starving stragglers searching through the dumpster for a shred of edible cabbage.
There isn't one.
This is not the way to save the republic folks. The solution is far more drastic than slow starvation.

I remember too #4, every single time there is actually enough angst amongst the HFC to get them to STAND UP against the same old loser establishment status quo they tell us they hate, here comes another doomsday threat. They all back down and NO gutsy Godly conservative is allowed a power position.

Uh, Mr. President, why would somebody like Rep. Scalise who was recently shot and nearly killed by a rabid dim be worse than Kev? I dunno. Am I missing something here? Or you are concerned that Nanie's daughter might get the Speakership?
Look, Mr. President. Kev needs to get his sh#$ together if he thinks he deserves and can handle the Speakership. We don't want or need the uniparty to be speaking on behalf of the full House.

Trumps chief of staff Susie Wiles, used to work for Jack Kemp Bob Doles VP pick in 1996. Before that she worked for George HW Bush and Dan Quail in1988. Getting a theme here…

Trump trusted Wray, he trusted Barr, and many more who turned out to be traitors.
He has worked with McCarthy, and McConnell both. Trump is supporting McCarthy and is dead against McConnell, as am I.
Perhaps Trump knows better on this..... but I worry about Barr and Wray type of backstabbing. But, they were unknowns when Trump appointed them on recommendations from NeverTrump folks. He has worked with McCarthy.
Maybe he's right. I am nowhere near as unhappy with McCarthy as with McConnell, Wray, and Barr.

The entire House votes for the speaker. So........If the republicans can't get 100% behind a speaker, the democrats will have a say in the matter.
Seems to me that the house republicans need to go into a conclave. When we see the white smoke, a speaker will have been selected. The public bickering isnt doing the GOP any favors.

Whomever they appoint, they'd better get their crap together and not screw up the majority like they did the last time...it's way past time to 'man up' and fight to the end to bring down the democraps insane policies....you got the majority, USE it!!!!!!! and keep the RINO's in line....

I haven't observed anyone trying to take out McCarthy....like they have Scalise and Rand Paul.
The deep state would be very happy with McCarthy.

Or, the alternative could be better. Come on! We're tired of getting played by all ya'll. Nobody seems to be trustworthy anymore. Everything keeps pointing to we the freakin people and a whole lot of dragging. Obviously, we make it too easy for them.

Let's see? The GOP gave us the traitor Bob Dole, Evil Hack John McCain, both Bushes, Boehner, Ryan and now McCarthy... Will We Republicans ever wise up and vote for our best interests and LEAVE the GOP alone? Hell no, as a group, we are too damn stupid and keep deleting the same garbage...Now evidently, even Trump has been coerced into betraying the country and electing a Uni-party rat!
