Election integrity volunteers 'afraid'
to attend recount after Michigan AG threatens prosecution

An apparent threat by Michigan's Democrat Attorney General Dana Nessel to arrest and prosecute local activists promoting election integrity and anti-voter fraud efforts caused many of them to steer clear of a contentious monitoring effort out of fear of being targeted by the government, according to a Michigan attorney deeply involved in the situation. Across Michigan on Wednesday, dozens of counties and hundreds of precincts began a recount for two controversial ballot proposals that were approved by voters on Nov. 8. The first measure in question is Proposal 2, which establishes early voting, expands access to absentee voting and preempts Republican efforts to enact more stringent voter ID rules.

The 2022 Michigan election stinks out loud. I've always thought passage of Propositions 2 & 3 were part of the corruption ... who would seriously vote against showing ID to vote? Only the Left. Not even garden-variety Democrats. Whitmer invoked obsolete emergency laws to justify her despotic COVID polcies and did the same wth Prop. 3, invoking a 1931 law that has long been superceded by laws that legalized abortion in Michigan.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday charged Sam Bankman-Fried, the embattled former CEO of cryptocurrency giant FTX and trading firm Alameda Research, with defrauding investors. "FTX’s collapse highlights the very real risks that unregistered crypto asset trading platforms can pose for investors and customers alike," said Gurbir S. Grewal, director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, in a statement. Bankman-Fried had been arrested Monday in the Bahamas after federal prosecutors in New York filed criminal charges contained in a sealed indictment, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Damian Williams, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, said on Monday that specific charges were expected to be unsealed Tuesday.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed new rules on Friday that would restrict the use of refrigerators, air conditioning equipment and heat pumps that utilize hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). The EPA’s proposed rule would crack down on the manufacturing and importing of goods containing HFCs, which would restrict the use of HFCs in refrigeration units, air conditioning systems and heat pump equipment starting in 2025, according to an agency press release. In accordance with the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, a global climate treaty that the Senate ratified in September, the agency intends to reduce the production and consumption of HFCs by 85% by 2036. “With this latest proposal

Amsterdam is launching an offensive to attract tourists interested first and foremost in its architecture and museums, and to bar those who are primarily attracted by its Red Light District and drug dens. These so-called “coffee shops” will soon be closed to foreigners anyway, if the city can get around the legal obstacles to enforce such a controversial measure. In a policy document published last week, the city also declares war on stag and hen parties in the infamous district, as well as on on pub crawls, smoking pot in public, loud party boats, the prostitution industry, and home owners renting their apartments for short stays. And according to all accounts, he particularly loves killing Americans. Just before he was arrested in a brilliant sting operation by the DEA in 2008, Bout told the informants who were just about to rat him out “that he had been fighting the U.S. for about 15 years and that the U.S. is an enemy,” and that “He was very eager and anxious to carry out this arms deal to kill Americans.” Way to go, Joe. Republican support for Donald Trump's presidential bid in 2024 has cratered, an exclusive USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll finds, as the former president is beleaguered by midterm losses and courtroom setbacks. By 2-1, GOP and GOP-leaning voters now say they want Trump's policies but a different standard-bearer to carry them. While 31% want the former president to run, 61% prefer some other Republican nominee who would continue the policies Trump has pursued. They have a name in mind: Two-thirds of Republicans and those inclined to vote Republican want Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to run for president. By double digits, 56% to 33%, they prefer DeSantis over Trump.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is fast emerging as a top 2024 presidential contender capable of beating both Donald Trump and President Joe Biden, an early election poll suggested on Tuesday.  The new USA Today/Suffolk University survey shows that a majority of GOP voters want Trump to pass the torch to the 44-year-old Republican governor - despite having declared his own third White House campaign last month. And while the ex-president trails Biden in a theoretical head-to-head rematch, DeSantis holds a narrow lead over the Democrat of about four points.
