Tom Nichols has a piece at the Atlantic today explaining why Never Trump didn’t really mean he’d never vote for Trump, it actually meant he’d never vote for Trumpism and that now includes all of the Republican Party. In one of the most appalling appropriations of a political banner in years—or at least since Trump decided in 2012, after years of changing party registrations, finally to settle on calling himself a Republican—some of the conservatives hoping to salvage the GOP’s fortune after the 2022 midterms are trying to seize and redefine the term Never Trump to mean a rejection of “only Trump, and no other Republicans who are like him.”

A federal appeals court on Thursday overturned a judge's decision to appoint a special watchdog to review documents seized by the FBI from the Florida residence of former President Donald Trump in August as part of a criminal investigation.
The Department of Justice had objected to the appointment of that watchdog, known as a special master, by a federal judge in Florida who was nominated to the bench by Trump. The DOJ said the special master appointment delayed DOJ from using the seized documents as part of that probe until they were cleared.
Washington - The Supreme Court on Thursday delayed a decision on whether to grant President Joe Biden's bid to implement his student loan forgiveness plan, announcing instead that it will hear full oral arguments on an expedited basis.

The Washington Post will end the print edition of its Sunday magazine, Executive Editor Sally Buzbee told staffers in a memo Wednesday. Its last edition will be December 25. Some of the magazine’s features will move to a “revitalized Style section,” Buzbee writes in a short note, adding that Post remains “committed to longform journalism.”
So what will happen to the magazine’s content? Tom Sietsema’s dining column and the crossword will run in the Sunday print edition as well as online of course, Post spokesperson Shani George tells Washingtonian. “Other features will be sunset,” George says. You know what that means: No more Date Lab.

Striking a contrite tone, former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried said he "didn't do a good job" at upholding his responsibilities to regulators, customers, and investors in a hotly anticipated conversation with CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin at the Dealbook Summit.
Bankman-Fried's FTX imploded in mid-November after Coindesk reported irregularities in the company's balance sheets. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware on Nov. 11. "I didn't ever try to commit fraud on anyone," Bankman-Fried said. "I saw it as a thriving business and I was shocked by what happened this month."

Ever since the 2020 presidential election, we’ve been told that election deniers are threats to democracy. The only cure for that is to not vote for an election denier to ever hold elected office, they said. Yet, on Wednesday House Democrats voted for the next House Minority Leader and they did just that – they elected an election denier, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries. Hmm.
You don’t think there is a double standard, do you? Perish the thought. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is retiring (good riddance) and the House is under new majority control in January. Democrats will be the minority party and Jeffries is their leader.
Tesla Inc. TSLA Chief Executive Elon Musk spent some time this week bashing Apple Inc.’s policies, but the newly minted Twitter owner hinted at a thawing of relations Wednesday afternoon. Musk took to Twitter to post a video of a short but serene scene on the smartphone giant’s Cupertino, Calif., campus, with a message thanking Apple AAPL CEO Tim Cook for showing him around. Notably, the tweet was identified as posted via “Twitter for iPhone.”

The Biden administration has quietly finalized a rule allowing employers to funnel workers’ 401(k) funds into investments that support woke causes that address issues such as climate change and diversity.
The Labor Department approved the rule last week, just two days before the Thanksgiving break. It will affect roughly 150 million workers and $10 trillion in assets covered under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.

House Democrats voted Wednesday to make Rep. Hakeem Jeffries their leader in the next Congress, replacing 82-year-old Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Jeffries won the post in an uncontested election after Pelosi and the two other incumbent members of the Democratic leadership, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, opted to step down. Jeffries, a 52-year-old New Yorker, will be the first African American to serve as House Democratic leader.
