WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden hails unions at almost every turn, often declaring "unions built the middle class" and that his goal is to be "the most pro-union president" in U.S. history. But as he urges Congress to intervene in a labor dispute to avert a freight rail strike before the holidays, the president is facing a backlash from labor allies. Union workers hoped to secure paid sick leave in a final contract, among other assurances, but congressional action pushed by Biden would force some terms they oppose. Typical. Unions want something in return for their loyalty to the Dems. And the Dems want something for their loyalty to the unions. And the circle goes round.

The company is offering something like 4-5% annual raises. Many people have not had raises in years. Then, since labor unions like the Democrats so much, they won't mind being replaced by the illegals coming across our borders.

In September they were close to signing the contract, the sick-pay issue outstanding, but the union leadership convinced the workers to a postponement past the election. There was a wink-and-a-nod "guarantee" that the sick-pay would go through. Whoops! Guess not. Go talk to the student-loan-forgiveness crowd. Y'all can have a nice cry together...and then take the knives out of each other's backs. Do it fast, it hurts less. Take it from us ex-Republicans. We've had experience of taking RINO knives out of our backs. When your wounds heal, we'll see you at the next Trump rally. MAGA!

As a labor aebitrator, I have handled and ruled on hundreds of different union agreements, but never, as far as I can recall, handled a union agreement that had no paid sick days included. I'm not excited about forcing train engineers, sick, crossing our country. And given the bidenomics inflation, who could afford to take an unpaid sick day?

History shows that Biden will abandon anyone once it becomes clear that it is in his political benefit to do so. Biden just played the Unions to get the Democrats past the midterm election. So much for old “Union” Joe Biden. Now it is up to the Democrat Congress in the next week or so to sweeten up the Union piece of the pie to keep the Unions on the Democrat plantation. It will be interesting to see how far the wimpy Republicans will cave to Democrat and Union demands to get a resulting piece of Democrat legislation passed to stop the impending rail strike.

Quebec Premier Francois Legault, concerned about the decline of the French language in the Canadian province, has set a new goal for immigrants: They should all speak French. Legault’s nationalist Coalition Avenir Quebec party was re-elected with a huge majority in October, partly on a platform of protecting French as the dominant language in the province of 8.7 million people. His speech to the legislature Wednesday laid out his priorities for his second term, including a plan to bar almost all economic immigrants who don’t speak French by 2026. “The objective is to stop the decline of French, in particular

Meanwhile, disease has gained ground as a possible cause. Jerry Klinglesmith, the Meeker-area rancher who suffered the losses reported Oct. 4, recently released what he said is the most likely
