Golden Tempo won the 158th Belmont Stakes on Sunday. Golden Tempo was also this year’s Kentucky Derby winner. The trainer, Cherie DeVaux, became the second female trainer to win the Belmont and the first woman to win two different Triple Crown races. Golden Tempo did not compete in the Preakness Stakes on May 16.

Comments:

Note that the race was on Saturday, not tomorrow (Sunday). I am sick and tired of websites that make stupid mistakes such as this.

Virginia Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger reversed a high-profile immigration enforcement policy established by outgoing Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin. Spanberger, sworn in earlier in the day as Virginia’s 75th governor and the first woman to hold the office, signed an executive action rescinding Executive Order 47—a directive issued last year that had authorized Virginia State Police and Department of Corrections personnel to assist federal immigration authorities under a 287(g) agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The repeal ends formal cooperation between state law enforcement and federal immigration enforcement efforts.

The average IQ in Somalia is 68. People will be diagnosed with an intellectual disability if their IQ falls below 70. (Snip) People opened their hearts and their wallets, ultimately contributing $6.6 million to the MCF. They thought the money was earmarked for the shooting victims and their families. Instead, per the Maine Wire, [T]he MCF distributed just $4.7 million to those individuals. The remaining $1.9 million went to NGOs, many of them politically connected, and many of them involved in the nebulous world of “migrant services.”

Researchers at the University of Edinburgh have engineered a strain of Escherichia coli that relies on small molecules from waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles to survive. The synthetic metabolic process they designed converts nearly 100% of PET-derived substrates into the world’s most commonly used painkiller, acetaminophen,(Snip) Conventional pharmaceutical manufacturing has an enormous carbon footprint—55% more emission intensive than that of the automotive industry—but this new method leaves virtually no carbon emissions.

Undisclosed communication devices reportedly discovered in Chinese-manufactured solar panels and related equipment have sparked concerns among U.S. officials about the vulnerability of the nation’s power grid, according to a Reuters report. These “rogue” devices, found over the past nine months, could potentially destabilize energy infrastructure and trigger widespread blackouts, sources familiar with the matter told the outlet. The undocumented devices, including cellular radios, were identified in solar power inverters, batteries, electric vehicle chargers, and heat pumps produced by several Chinese suppliers.

I’ll admit I agree with almost all of President Donald Trump’s initiatives, but there’s one about which I have some doubts: stopping the minting of pennies. Yes, I know that pennies cost more to make than they’re worth. (Snip) The nearest rounding option would be five cents (though there’s a smaller lobby gunning to kill the nickel, too). That means every transaction in Colorado — the lowest state sales tax at 2.9% — will get rounded up. New York City, whose combined tax cut on most sales is effectively 8.875%, will also get rounded up.

A recent boat parade in Florida supporting President Donald Trump took an unexpected turn when a vessel flying Nazi flags appeared among the flotilla. The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, has sparked debate about the true identity of the flag-bearers and the response from other parade participants. The event, which took place off the coast of Florida, was initially reported by Newsweek with a headline suggesting that Nazi symbols were openly displayed at the Trump boat parade. “Swastika Flags Flown During Trump Boat Parade in Florida,” the headline read.

A policy that allows school staff to keep a child’s transgender status a secret does not violate a parent’s fundamental rights under the New Hampshire constitution, the state’s Supreme Court has held. The policy was challenged by a New Hampshire mother who sued the Manchester school district after finding out from a teacher that her minor child (identified as M.C.) had asked school staff and students to be called by a name typically associated with the opposite sex.

Millions of Americans who rely on Social Security could see their monthly benefit checks reduced by an average of around $500 if lawmakers don’t address a looming crisis, according to an analysis. Social Security’s retirement trust fund is projected to become insolvent in 2032, an August 2025 letter from the Social Secutiy Administration’s (SSA) Office of the Chief Actuary read. At that point, the rules of the Social Security Act would make the agency unable to pay full scheduled benefits and require an across-the-board 24% reduction, according to a Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget analysis released Wednesday. The average beneficiary nationwide would lose approximately $500 per month, with retirees

Probably the strangest paragraph in the New York Times ‘sneak preview’ write-up of the Obama Library that some people are calling the Obamalisk because of its general ugliness and ominous blot on the Chicago skyline. More creative folks have compared it to a “Klingon prison”, a “Stalinist vertical gulag” and the Dorian Grey picture of the state of Obama’s soul. And things aren’t that much more cheerful on the inside. So many people who have visited the Obama museum in its “soft launch” have cried that the staff has left out boxes of tissues. “Lots of tears,” said Valerie Jarrett, the chief executive officer of the Obama Foundation. “Lots of tears.”

I remember the scene on the Senate floor. The occasion was the vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act—Obamacare. It came down to John McCain, who hated Donald Trump with a burning passion eclipsing common Trump Derangement Syndrome. As one of his final acts on this Earth, McCain, aping every corrupt, movie Roman Emperor, raised his thumb and ominously, slowly, grinning like an evil lunatic, turned it thumbs down. Obamacare—arguably Obama’s most expensive destructive legacy-- was saved, and not because it has ever worked. McCain saved it out of spite. That was only one of Obama’s destructive legacies. Americans should expect, at a minimum, to have elections that are free and fair, and results that are delivered promptly. But California is taking its laid-back reputation too far, failing to deliver its election results in a timely manner and creating the perception that they are neither free nor fair. Slothful election results have plagued California for years since it made wholesale changes to its election system in 2016. It has mass mail-in ballots that can be counted post-election and allows for an extremely slow pace of counting. Proponents of the system say this makes their elections more “secure” and accessible. You won’t be surprised to learn that Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat,

The federal government's Medicaid program is paying Native American shamans in California $826 a day to perform ancient rituals such as drum circles and spiritual dances to treat drug and alcohol addicts. The alternative treatments are part of Democratic governor Gavin Newsom's embrace of "indigenous knowledge," a pseudoscience that claims Native Americans have mystical healing powers that transcend the realm of traditional medicine. The Biden Department of Health & Human Services gave its approval in October 2024 for California to reimburse Native American "Traditional Healers" with federal Medicaid dollars to treat addicts by drawing on their innate knowledge of ancestral healing rites.

Representatives of the paper said they would protect her, that men couldn't keep getting away with it. They collected her diary pages, her screenshots, her contacts, and walked away with everything she had. Then they published their story. The story they published was damning, but, according to Fifield, they omitted the most serious allegation. Fifield had every reason to stay quiet. She described her current life as genuinely good, raising two young daughters in a safe neighborhood, working from home, active in her church, and surrounded by close friends and family.

Here we go again. If you have been following the race for mayor of Los Angeles, you have probably noticed that Spencer Pratt’s lead is slowly being eroded and Nithya Raman, the far left Democratic Socialist (communist) candidate keeps gaining. The explanation for this is very simple. It’s fraud. Raman is benefiting from the state’s system of mail-in ballots, which SOMEHOW always benefits the left. Isn’t it fascinating how ballots that are tabulated after the election always benefit just one side? NBC News recently admitted this on the air, without a hint of irony.

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., has confirmed longheld Republican suspicions: Protests are bought and paid for by big donor Democrats. Murphy admits he has been pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars of his donor money to fund left-wing street protest organizations. Now, he’s telling radicals that the 2028 presidential election might not even take place. The Connecticut Democrat made the alarming claim at a May 26 book tour event during a Q&A with former NBC journalist Katie Couric to help sell his new book, “Crisis of the Common Good.” When Couric asked Murphy about his national ambitions, he answered by suggesting the country might not make it to the next election.
