Why Trump Keeps Getting Rolled in Negotiations

Original Article

Donald Trump’s reputation and political career were built on his dealmaking prowess, yet the president keeps demonstrating that he is a terrible negotiator. Repeatedly over the past nine years, Trump has gotten rolled by counterparts during high-stakes exchanges. North Korea, Russia, Russia again, China, and China again have gotten the better of the United States.

Comments:

Yes, I think he's being rolled. Stop saying the contents are secret and we would be impressed. Fact is, the Arabs are doubting your resolve and are backing away. All your allies same. Iran put you into this position on purpose. Stop telling us to trust. What we see is ultimatums canceled. We see IRGC rebuilding. We remember 12 day war supposed to be so great and it was wrong to end it as it was ended. Stop telling us to trust. Political power does not work that way. You give deadlines and you back away.

Any article with any suggestion we and Israel started this war , is fit only to line the bird cage or use to potty train your puppy. Point of order is Iran has been attacking USA , Israel and other citizens worldwide...since 1979. But supposedly it just started because of us. A closer look would also reference to Hezbollah in. Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza and Houthi in Yemen all doing Iran binding.... So this article is mental master....tion for the TDS readers /Atlantic mouth breathers ..with no touch points grounded in fact...

So all that bunker buster eliminating an imminent Nuclear threat was Iran rolling Trump. And Putin continuing to lose men, material and resources against an inferior enemy instead of expanding his regional conquest like he did during Ob Bambi and Diaper Joe. And boy has China really taken the world to the cleaners with its struggle to find oil and natural gas to keep its silvery factories running. Yes, ole Trump has just been out witted by all the usual dictators that Obambi, Diaper Joe, Clinton and Carter seem to handle like Otto von Bismarck

Those dolts don't seem to realize that if Trump levels Iran, Pahlavi (or whoever succeeds their limp wristed mullah) is going to have to govern without the benefit of an oil industry to help sustain the economy--restraint is "getting rolled". Like I've said before, Trump could cure cancer and The Atlantic will mourn cancer's passing.

Religious leaders and pro-life advocates are raising alarms about changes to abortion laws in Britain after the House of Lords advanced legislation that would remove penalties for women who terminate their pregnancies. [snip] "The clause would change the law so it would no longer be illegal for women to perform their own abortions for any reason, including sex-selective purposes, and at any point up to and during birth," Right to Life said in a March 18 statement.

Two weeks into Operation Epic Fury, the dominant narrative has settled into a comfortable groove: The United States and Israel stumbled into a war without a plan. Iran is retaliating across the region. Oil prices are surging, and the world is facing another Middle Eastern quagmire. US senators have called it a blunder. Cable news has tallied the crises. Commentators have warned of a long war. [snip] But this narrative is wrong. Not because the costs are imaginary, but because the critics are measuring the wrong things. They are cataloguing the price of the campaign while ignoring the strategic ledger.

President Trump said Thursday that the US has an “armada” headed toward Iran — but that “maybe we won’t have to use it” — as he remained coy about his intentions after authorities slaughtered protesters this month. “We have a lot of ships going that direction just in case. We have a big flotilla going in that direction. And we’ll see what happens,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One as he returned from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The whole of Virginia's General Assembly has approved four constitutional amendments — on abortion and reproductive health care, the automatic restoration of voting rights, marriage equality and mid-decade redistricting — after the state Senate's Friday vote. With the draft amendments passing both chambers in consecutive years, with a House of Delegates election in the middle, Virginia voters will now have the last say in a multi-year process on whether to enshrine in the constitution: A fundamental right to reproductive care, including access to abortion, contraception and fertility treatments

The Labour Party chairman has repeatedly refused to rule out delaying the next general election after scrapping council elections next year. Anna Turley MP left Sky News host Trevor Phillips stunned as she was given repeated opportunities to rule out the idea.... Mr Phillips pointed to this week’s move to scrap up to 63 council elections next year, on top of delaying votes on new mayors. Labour has blamed the delays on reorganisations of local government, prompting the interviewer to ask whether Sir Keir Starmer may find an excuse to avoid going to the polls in 2029.

Justice Secretary David Lammy is proposing to massively restrict the ancient right to a jury trial by only guaranteeing it for defendants facing rape, murder, manslaughter or other cases passing a public interest test. An internal government briefing, produced by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) for all other Whitehall departments, confirms plans to create a new tier of jury-less courts in England and Wales. The new courts would deal with most crimes currently considered by juries in Crown Court. But the MoJ said no final decision had been taken by the government.

The Prime Minister is set to approve plans for a controversial Chinese "super embassy" in central London, Sky News understands. A final decision on the planning application for the former Royal Mint site near the Tower of London is due on 10 December, after numerous previous delays. The proposal is highly politically sensitive due to concerns about Chinese espionage activities in the UK, inflamed by the collapse of a recent court case involving two men accused of spying for China.

For 33 days, a wounded Ukrainian soldier lay trapped behind enemy lines; a tourniquet the only thing keeping him alive after a landmine shattered his foot. Six rescue missions failed. The escape vehicles were destroyed in the “kill zone”, where drones and mines make undetected movement nearly impossible. But his comrades did not concede defeat. On the seventh attempt, an armoured unmanned vehicle crawled over 40 miles along enemy lines in a meticulous five-hour-and-58-minute mission – battered by blasts, slowed by a damaged wheel – emerging against the odds.

Two years ago, Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani sponsored a bill that would strip away the tax-exempt status of local charities with ties to Israeli settler groups that forcibly occupy the Palestinian West Bank. When the effort went nowhere, he pushed a revised version of the bill, known as the “Not On Our Dime” Act, the following year. It failed as well. Now, with Mr. Mamdani considered the front-runner in the New York City mayoral race, he may soon be in a position to use his power to hold Israel accountable for its treatment of Palestinians. He has called its actions in Gaza a genocide.

It was a moment that some have compared to Barack Obama’s landmark 2008 speech about race, inequality and unity in American politics. In the closing weeks of the mayoral campaign, Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic front-runner, veered off from the economic message he has clung to doggedly for more than a year. “I want to use this moment to speak to the Muslims of New York City,” he said. ... tearfully, describing his experiences with his faith, identity and Islamophobia, ... “No longer will I live in the shadows,” he said.

The group, which tracks the country’s civil war, described the situation as “a true genocide”.

The June 2024 presidential debate between then-President Joe Biden (D) and then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump was inarguably one of the most consequential events in American political history, largely because it proved to the American people beyond a shadow of a doubt that the occupant of the Oval Office was unwell. As we all know, it led to Biden withdrawing from the presidential race three weeks later after essentially being forced out by his fellow Democrats. It was a reckoning of sorts for the Democrat Party, the Biden-Harris administration, and the mainstream media, all of whom played starring roles in the deliberate years-long cover-up of Biden's decline,

Spoiler alert: Naaah. But it's certainly fun to fantasize. Yes, John Cornyn may have been a slightly safer bet than Ken Paxton in a general election. Given the relative difference between how the two would have voted over the next six years, the gain from nominating Paxton probably doesn't justify the assumed risk of dethroning the incumbent Cornyn. It might take more money to fight for the seat in the general election, but that assumes that Democrats would have left Texas alone had Cornyn eked out a win over Paxton. The Communist Twelver Shi’ite mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, made a major announcement on Tuesday: he is beginning to implement the Marxist seizure of property in New York City. He did not, of course, state that in so many words. As Marxists always do, he couched his plans in the language of social justice, claiming that he was striking out against bad landlords and providing an opportunity for all New Yorkers to live in decent, fairly-priced housing. And as is always the case with Marxist promises, Mamdani’s big announcement was an obvious and flagrant lie to cover up for his seizure of private property, not so much
