Chekhov’s Lesson for Tehran

famous saying of Anton Chekhov’s has been making the rounds. “If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall,” Chekhov advised, “in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it’s not going to be fired, it shouldn’t be hanging there.” I wonder if the thugs and theocrats who have been plundering Iran for the last 47 years have read Chekhov. If so, I conclude that they are slow learners. In January, the Iranian authorities slaughtered more than 40,000 protesters—

President Trump is encouraging the Iranians to turn on one another. They can't even decide who will negotiate with our team. They are splintered and leaderless. One could argue that he's doing the same with democrats. They, too, are splintered and leaderless because some democrats are much more left leaning than others. Just like the Iranians, they can't decide who they are anymore.

I suspect that those people have only read the one book that matters to them. Western children have one similar to it and it's entitled Grimm's Fairy Tales.

President Trump has called off sending a US delegation to Pakistan Saturday for peace talks with Iran – nixing a trip he said would be a waste of time. Trump, who told a Post reporter in Islamabad to “come home” shortly after he made the announcement, said his team was wasting too much time on traveling. “I just cancelled the trip of my representatives going [to] Islamabad, Pakistan, to meet with the Iranians,” the president posted on Truth Social Saturday afternoon. “Too much time wasted on traveling, too much work! Besides which, there is tremendous infighting and confusion within their ‘leadership.’

Labour is pressing ahead with plans to make hybrid drivers liable for a new pay-per-mile tax despite admitting they barely use their vehicles in electric mode. The Telegraph has the story. Plug-in hybrid cars (PHEV) will become liable for Rachel Reeves’s new electric road tax from 2028, with each mile driven attracting a 1.5p fee. It will be half the 3p levy paid by owners of electric vehicles (EVs). Last year, justifying the policy, the Treasury said PHEV motorists drove “more or less than 50% in electric mode”.

If a violent social revolution were truly to break out, and Piker and Tolentino became its victims, one assumes they’d find crime less fun. Is robbing the Louvre a good idea? Left-wing influencer Hasan Piker and New Yorker writer Jia Tolentino did a much-discussed video interview with the New York Times on the ethics of theft and came out four-square in favor of stealing things, including artwork from the Louvre. They consider larceny an appropriate response to the inherent corruption and injustice of the American capitalist system. The merits of this position aside,

Now that the Southern Poverty Law Center is being exposed, it is important to look back at some of the outrageous claims made by this group in the past. It is absolutely amazing to think that in 2015, they put Dr. Ben Carson on an ‘extremist’ list. Is ‘extremist’ one of the words that comes into your mind when you think of Carson? Perhaps when they targeted one of the most renowned and highly respected pediatric brain surgeons in the entire country in this way, it was a clue that they were not operating in good faith. They were eventually forced to take Carson off the list and then apologized…

year before he assisted the Ukraine whistle-blower in an anti-Trump impeachment saga, national security official Gavin Wilde published multiple articles seemingly promoting Russia collusion claims and calls for social media censorship while working for the Trump Defense Department. Wilde — known only as “Witness 2” in internal intelligence memos from the Ukraine impeachment episode but identified by Just the News — had worked with disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok and had co-authored the flawed January 2017 intelligence community assessment on Russian meddling in the 2016 election prior to serving on the Trump National Security Council in 2018 and 2019.

President Donald Trump has signed five executive orders that address critical segments of the nation’s energy infrastructure – a move made under the presidential determinations of the Defense Production Act that allows a U.S. president to mobilize industry for purposes of national security. The two-term president has long pushed for energy development and the infrastructure to support it as a key aspect of national security. The orders, signed amid the U.S. war with Iran, seek to address issues with the aging electricity grid, the need for natural gas pipelines, coal supply chains and large-scale electricity —

After Virginia Democrats successfully convinced voters to approve a constitutionally questionable redistricting push to seize more U.S. congressional seats in the state, Florida is now in the spotlight. In the Sunshine State, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is spearheading an effort to redraw the state’s congressional districts before the midterm elections. Earlier this year, he called a special session of the state legislature to consider redrawing the maps. Now, Republicans see it as an opportunity to cancel out the likely gains that Democrats won in Virginia. Following that vote, allies of President Donald Trump have urged Florida to move forward with its plans before the midterm elections.

Someone stole 15 giant agricultural drones in New Jersey — and experts fear a “nightmare scenario” if they end up in the hands of terrorists. The fleet of Ceres Air C31 drones, which are about the size of an ATV, were ripped off March 24 by a bogus delivery driver who duped shipping and logistics company CAC International in Harrison, according to The High Side substack. The four-armed flyers can carry and spray up to 40 gallons of liquid chemicals, such as fertilizers and pesticides, and unleash the payload over a 15-acre span in just seven minutes. The FBI is concerned the chemical-spraying drones could be used to disperse biological or chemical

Today, petty theft is not only rampant, owing to the reign of Soros district attorneys who don't prosecute crime, it's being celebrated by the rich, radical chic elites. The New York Post presents this charmer from the breed: A longtime staff writer for the New Yorker known for bashing capitalism bragged that she has stolen from her local Whole Foods “on several occasions” in a New York Times podcast. Washington D.C. is the capital of a vast federal bureaucracy, much of it useless, and completely out of touch with the people it rules over. The USDA is one of the best examples. How much non-drug agriculture happens in D.C.? Not a lot. So the Trump admin is proposing to move a bunch of USDA functions to farm country. USDA announced on Thursday that the Food Safety and Inspection Service will move about two-thirds of its D.C. metro area workforce out of the region to relocate them to “mission-critical locations,” including new facilities in Iowa and Georgia. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said in a statement that this reorganization ensures FSIS “is positioned where

The news agency speculated that it could have been staged to improve President Trump’s position ahead of the upcoming mid-term elections or perhaps to “use it against Iran or another country”.
