current Republican election official and a former one said that they expect litigation against President Donald Trump's executive order, signed last week, restricting mail voting will be successful.
Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt and former Maricopa County, Arizona Recorder Stephen Riche told George Stephanopoulos on "This Week" that they expect lawsuits against the order will get it overturned.
"We want voters to know that the election is going to be free, fair, safe and secure, and that everyone knows what the rules are prior to going into this.

group of immigration law and policy experts, including former senior immigration enforcement officials, has proposed a solution to help the Trump administration implement a mass deportation plan.
After more than 14 million illegal border crossers were reported during the Biden administration, and millions more are believed be living illegally in the country, finding them is a monumental task, they argue.
One of President Donald Trump’s campaign promises was to “conduct the largest mass deportation operation in American History.” Of the more than 2.5 million illegal foreign nationals who were removed, the overwhelming majority, 1.9 million, self-deported, The Center Square reported.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers has signed a pair of bills into law aimed at providing more transparency into teacher’s license investigations related to sexual misconduct and prevents local school officials from entering into agreements to hide information related to staff immoral conduct.
Senate Bill 785 requires the state Department of Public Instruction to keep a free, online searchable platform to include information on teachers who have had their licenses revoked and who are investigated by DPI.
The portal must name the license holder and the outcome of the investigation and must include if the teachers’ license holder voluntarily surrendered his or her license to avoid further investigation.

Despite repeated claims by Trump administration officials, Mexico is not delivering water as promised to South Texas in accordance with a long-standing treaty.
In January, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced an agreement had been reached with Mexico to deliver water to South Texas. In February, Rollins again said South Texas ranchers and farmers would be getting water, after also making the claim last year.
Six weeks later, South Texas ranchers and farmers say they still aren’t getting the water.
By the end of March, “The Mexican government is in default AGAIN on the 202k acre-feet of water they committed to deliver to South Texas.

The Iran-backed Houthi insurgents of Yemen claimed on Thursday to have struck Tel Aviv, Israel, with a “barrage of ballistic missiles.” This operation was conducted jointly with our mujahideen brothers in Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon, and it successfully achieved its objectives,” Houthi military spokesman Gen. Yahya Saree said. The Houthis invariably claim all of their attacks “achieved their objectives,” even when every missile they launch has been intercepted.
“All praise and gratitude to the heroic fighters in Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, and Palestine who defend the dignity of the nation and stand resolutely against the Western-Zionist scheme targeting all the countries and peoples of the nation,” Saree added.

As the war with Iran approaches the climactic phase, I would expect Americans to have a clear idea of what the fight is about.
Instead, I sense some confusion.
That is unfortunate but understandable.
Donald Trump excels as a cheerleader, not as a teacher or explainer. He’s a man bereft of doubt, who has trouble understanding the uncertainties that haunt the rest of us mere mortals.
And of course, the vast anti-Trump alliance has a stake in sowing confusion.
The president has a mighty voice, but his opponents are just as loud — and they believe that promoting an American catastrophe, if it hurts Trump, would be for the greater good.

The tough-as-nails US Air Force colonel shot down over Iran was seriously wounded but still climbed a 7,000-foot ridge and hid in a crevice to evade capture for 36 hours — even with bounty-hunters on his tail.
The cool-as-a-cucumber American hero, who has yet to be publicly identified, spent one and a half days hiding in the Zagros Mountains range and dodging the enemy after his F-15E went down in hostile territory Friday. Despite his injuries, the weapons officer was able to climb more than 1.3 miles and avoid detection from blood-thirsty nearby Iranian fighters —

A veteran “60 Minutes” correspondent ripped the famed CBS programming as a “snake pit” plagued by “no civility.”
Steve Kroft, who spent 30 years as one of the mainstay journalists on “60 Minutes,” told podcaster Bill O’Reilly that if he were offered the chance to do it again, he would respond: “No, I probably wouldn’t do it again…I hated it.”
The 80-year-old former correspondent described the prestigious newsmagazine not as a dream job, but as a brutal grind and psychological battlefield that wore him down over time.

In a recent and viral announcement, Joe Kent resigned as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center. In the letter, he accused the Trump administration of bowing to Israeli lobby pressure on Iran. He also stated that Iran (a nation that regularly proclaims “death to America”) “posed no imminent threat to our nation.”
The reactions were mixed: A sharp rebuke from the White House, praise from Marjorie Taylor Greene, and a podcast appearance with Tucker Carlson. In the end, though, this move by Kent was not principled or patriotic.

President Trump’s fiscal year 2027 budget request, released on Friday, asks Congress to spend $152 million to reopen Alcatraz as a “state-of-the-art secure prison facility.”
The President has long embraced tough lock-up conditions for violent criminals “as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE.”
Last May, President Trump called the Bureau of Prisons to reopen the original Alcatraz off the coast of San Francisco to house the “dregs of society.” He said in a Truth Social Post, “We will no longer be held hostage to criminals, thugs, and Judges that are afraid to do their job and allow us to remove criminals,

Iran told mediators that it will not meet with American officials in Islamabad, Pakistan, and has rejected U.S. demands, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
The decision is the latest blow to President Donald Trump's efforts to broker an agreement to end the war, which began nearly five weeks ago. Trump stated this week that Iran had asked for a ceasefire, though he may have referenced a public comment from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressing openness to a ceasefire in exchange for security guarantees.

The Trump Administration’s fraud task force, led by Vice President JD Vance, revealed on Thursday that it has identified and suspended 221 fraudulent hospice and healthcare providers.
According to Fox News, the massive progress comes after just 70 providers were initially suspended last week.
But it’s not stopping there.
“We expect this number to grow much, much higher in the coming weeks,” a senior Administration official said. The Administration’s War on Fraud once again yields results as more suspensions take place and fraudsters face justice for ripping off hard-working Americans and stealing their tax dollars and social services,” a spokesperson for Vance said.
