Gavin Newsom’s Empire of Fraud

That is the title of a City Journal article by Chris Rufo and others. Exposure of industrial-scale fraud in Minnesota has led to heightened awareness of theft of taxpayer funds in other states, with California at the top of the list. The City Journal article is long and detailed; here are just a few highlights: California is a cash machine. The state collects some of the country’s highest income, business, and fuel taxes, and now spends more than $300 billion per year. And yet, everywhere you look, California seems to be falling apart. $300 billion a year is an astonishing amount, but, as the authors write, California’s infrastructure (highways, bridges, etc.)

Wait till they get to the food stamp program, it’s going to make Minnesota and Cali look like amateur hour. There’s all kind of rules and regulations, but at the end of the day whether you get food-stamps or not depends on whether your caseworker looks like you and wants you to have them. My neighbor is an 81 year old widow, was a stay at home mom, husbands pension went under only child passed. She gets 800 a month social security and 9.00 a month in food-stamps which according to the foodstamp office that’s all she’s eligible for. I guarantee you the “official “ food stamp benefit is only for people who don’t look like the person inputting the data.

Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen was found dead in her home Wednesday morning, and her husband was taken into custody in a case police say is being investigated as domestic violence. Officers arrived around 10 a.m. for a welfare check at her Broward County residence, and after gaining entrance to her house, they found her body. Authorities then arrested her husband, Stephen Bowen. Police have not released the cause of death or confirmed what charges, if any, have been filed. Police have not said what triggered the welfare check or how long she had been dead before officers arrived. Authorities have also not said whether anyone else

Should California codify Islamic religious observances into state-recognized holidays in the United States? As a nation, the essence of who we are as a People is rooted in our Judeo-Christian values and principles, dating back to the Magna Carta. This shared moral vocabulary has shaped Western thinking since America’s founding. Why, then, would any State in the Union formally endorse or incorporate into our educational and other public institutions a religious doctrine with practices antithetical to the belief system? AB 2017, introduced by Progressive Democrats Assemblyman Matt Haney and Senator Aisha Wahab, proposes adding Eid al-Fitr (Festival of Breaking the Fast) and Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice) to California’s recognized holidays.
Global Warming: It’s Not Unusual 8 replies

Hysteria about global warming stems from the fact that, as best one can estimate, the Earth’s average temperature has increased by around 1.1 degree C over the last century. Global temperatures have fluctuated widely in the past, and it has long been debated whether the current increase is anything unusual. At the Science of Climate Change, computer scientist Les Hatton recounts a relatively simple analysis that he conducted, using the oft-studied Greenland ice cores. From the paper’s abstract: In this paper we first dissect the background behind this number and what it means. Second, we use the Epica-Vostok Ice core dataset, a single proxy dataset for temperature data sampled every century

How many times have you been told that fact-checkers are neutral arbiters of truth, selfless guardians of an informed democracy, heroic watchdogs standing between you and dangerous misinformation? It’s the tallest of tales that we’re just supposed to take for granted. And then they give us every reason not to believe it. PJ Media readers have long known that mainstream fact-checkers are anything but neutral. During COVID, biased fact-checkers were deployed like weapons to silence dissenting voices on vaccines, lockdowns, and lab leak theories. After the 2020 election, conservative outlets — including this one — had to walk on eggshells with every piece we published, constantly watching for anything
Democrat Kings Want Our Heads 8 replies

American leftists held another “No Kings” rally last weekend. Democrats and their ideological allies gathered in city parks and town squares to tell the rest of us how awful we are. They screamed obscenities and called us “fascists” and “Nazis.” They demanded President Trump’s removal from office. Some even brazenly wished for his death. To non-leftists, these things are cringeworthy spectacles. The participants look loony and behave immaturely. They are not serious people. Their messages make no sense. How are they able to protest so vocally if they are living under the yoke of tyranny? How are they able

Providence Mayor Brett Smiley wants a mural of Iryna Zarutska taken down because the intent of those funding the mural is misguided and divisive. I don’t agree, and have an opinion that runs counter to his. I believe this nation needs many more murals of Iryna Zarutska as a reminder of what happened to her. Moreover, I want those murals to supplant every mural of George Floyd, the patron saint of losers. That’s right. I want every mural of George Floyd to be painted over with a mural of Iryna Zarutska. Elon Musk could fund the effort. Which mural is more deserving of display? The mural of a bum who

"I'm going," he told reporters, "because I have listened to this argument for so long." The mixed messaging, cognitive dissonance, and blatant hypocrisy on display at the latest round of “No Kings” protests in places like New York City reached epic proportions this past weekend. If you were in New York City on Saturday during the third edition of the No Kings movement, you would have seen a smorgasbord of far-left groups aiming to sow the seeds of revolution in America. You would have seen numerous flags adorned with the hammer and sickle. You would have been surrounded by collectivist swag and literature for sale, including copies of The Communist Manifesto. AGADIR -- Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officially confirmed today that Alireza Tangsiri, commander of its naval forces, died after sustaining severe injuries. Last week, Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that Israeli forces killed Tangsiri in an overnight airstrike, and that the operation also killed senior naval officers. He claimed that Tangsiri is the one responsible for many “terrorist” operations and blocking the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian authorities however did not confirm his death at the time of the Israeli announcement. The US -Israel – Iran war continues after US and Israel carried out a joint strike against Iran on February 28, targeting Tehran and several Iranian cities.

Around 49 guests with Hubbard's Marina in Madeira Beach went on a shelling excursion at around 11:15 a.m. Friday when they found a roughly 10-foot Great White shark 25-75 yards from the shoreline of Shell Key. "Seeing a shark of this size and grace so close to the island is a 'stop-everything' moment for our guests," Captain Dylan Hubbard, Owner of Hubbard’s Marina, said in a statement. "We see

No, you didn’t read that headline wrong. The Austrian President has officially gone off the rails. This guy just gave us a glimpse into how the messed up globalist mind works when it finally stops pretending to be sane. Globalist leaders spent years flooding Europe with failed “refugees welcome” policies that have destroyed communities, crushed national identity, erased traditions, and helped turn once-safe countries into places filled with soaring violent crime. And the far-left leaders behind this madness still haven’t learned a single thing. In fact, they’ve actually become more unhinged, arrogant, and totally absurd. Which brings us to the latest gem from Europe’s ruling class.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday night delivered an address to the nation that achieved the legacy media headlines he needed to be displayed for the American people and made an unequivocal America-first declaration that the issues surrounding the Strait of Hormuz are not America's problem. The U.S. imports almost no oil through the Hormuz Strait and won't be taking any in the future. We don't need it."

Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) about the FBI's plans to release documents tied to his decade-old relationship with a suspected Chinese spy.[snip]"The White House wasn't pleased she was intervening due to her personal friendship with Swalwell."
