California’s Future: Tom Steyer, the
Oxymoronic Progressive Oligarch

Original Article

It seems impossible that a man like Tom Steyer could have a realistic chance at being one of the two top finishers in California’s June 2 jungle primary. But Steyer, like the other seven Democrats and two Republicans that are running viable campaigns in the crowded race, doesn’t have to appeal to a very large percentage of voters to come out in first or second place. He’s up against several politicians with durable constituencies, splitting the vote so thoroughly that it is conceivable that the top performer could win with only around 20 percent of the vote.

The article may be exactly right but am I supposed to care if Kalifornia goes down the tubes faster under a Steyer? The only thing we need to make sure of is that, as they slide into the ocean and go under, they get NO FEDERAL MONEY! Steyer's big issue is environmentalism, yet, as an issue, that one is a beached whale that is beginning to bloat and reek. It could draw more support in the Left Coast than the rest of the country but even there, they are seeing their fuel costs through the roof and availability of all the "special" blends they mandate is getting harder to meet and their refineries are becoming fewer. As is, it's an unsustainable path, yet Steyer would have to advocate for even more to grab the Lefty environmentalists. Broadly, the Country is dubious of "Warming", CO2 toxicity, and many other issues that, over decades, have failed to prove out. Federal support is being cut and courts have blocked arbitrary agency rulings without laws to back them up. Even if dems got control in Washington, the power they held was through agencies, not laws, and it would be unlikely the dems could reestablish the environmental grip they had. It's just not a winning issue any more. What could a Steyer do in a state crunched for money? As we have seen, companies and people don't need to live in Kalifornia. To damn with faint praise, Steyer is a LOT smarter than Nuisance, but you can't squeeze blood money out of a failing state. Watching Mandami thrash around in NYC is a microcosm of what Steyer might face.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Tuesday announced the arrest of several violent criminals, including convicted murderers and pedophiles, as part of its latest "worst of the worst" roundup. The "worst of the worst" series is part of an effort by DHS to highlight the criminal nature of Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) priority targets amid President Donald Trump's mass deportation efforts. “Yesterday, ICE arrested criminal illegal alien murderers, pedophiles and sex criminals – the very definition of depraved,” acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said. “Under President Trump, if you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will find you and arrest you.

Sen. Dick Durbin's replacement has become the focus in the Illinois Democratic primary elections on Tuesday as 11 candidates run in an effort to win his seat. Durbin, 81, and two other longtime members of the state's congressional delegation are retiring this term, Reuters reported. Illinois, a heavily Democratic state, is not expected to be competitive for Republicans in November's midterm elections. Some of the top candidates in the Democratic Senate primary to replace Durbin include Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi and Robin Kelly, and Illinois Lieutenant Gov. Juliana Stratton.

President Trump has never been afraid to say what career politicians won’t: America has been getting ripped off by foreign freeloaders for decades, especially when it comes to prescription drugs. While U.S. patients and taxpayers foot the bill for the world’s most advanced medicines, wealthy nations have been freeloading off our innovation. Last year, Trump took a major step toward fixing that imbalance by forcing the United Kingdom to come to the table and pay more for breakthrough treatments. Past presidents could only dream of a win that big. Now, it’s time to do the same with Japan.

This is the second in a series of articles written by former Sen. Jim DeMint. Read the introduction and the first article of the series here and here. Societies are social constructs where people live together in community. Politics is the process of deciding how people live together. The larger and more diverse a population becomes, the more difficult the politics. In America, where shared values and assimilation have become anathema to Democrats and Democrat-aligned institutions, our diversity has exploded into disharmony and division. How can federal policies restore national unity and love for country?

As the war surrounding Iran enters its 18th day, the country stands at a moment of historic uncertainty. Missiles and drones have struck military installations and strategic infrastructure across the country, while the regime’s leadership struggles to project an image of authority. Yet the most important battle may not be unfolding in the skies above Iran or in the waters of the Persian Gulf. It is taking place on the ground, inside the country itself. Even as explosions reverberate across the region, Resistance Units linked to the Iranian opposition movement, the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK), have intensified their campaign against the theocratic regime.

The concept of freedom of the press isn't ruined by criticism of the press. But when liberal TV hosts roll out their lectures, they sound a little like the president they routinely attack. Any criticism of their work must be Fake News. MS NOW host Ana Cabrera expressed indignation on March 16 after FCC Chairman Brendan Carr tweeted that broadcast stations should watch what they're airing on the war in Iran: "Freedom of the press has been such a huge, huge underpinning of the democracy in this country, right? In order to hold people in power accountable to be that government watchdog."

Wyoming bears all the hallmarks of a “red state.” Its executive offices and legislature are dominated by Republicans, and Donald Trump won it by more than 40 points in the last three presidential elections. But like many “red states” in America today, Wyoming’s Republican rule is in many ways a mirage. So-called “Republican” elected officials have often gone out of their way to stifle and kill conservative priorities. The state’s recently concluded budget session perfectly illustrates this problem. Despite Republicans possessing supermajorities in the state House (56-6) and Senate (29-2), the House rejected six bills containing provisions —

In Milton Friedman’s classic book, Free to Choose, he describes the vision that accounts for America’s political and economic success: The true essence of freedom is when individuals can make their own choices about the things they value. And people have very different opinions about valuation. Free societies must respect the fact that people have very different views about what they want. By contrast, the notion that everyone should have the same things is a core principle of socialism. Liberty flourishes when millions of people are free to choose between hundreds of products and services offered by many competitors.

France’s government is bolstering the country’s military presence in the Middle East, dispatching its aircraft carrier and other warships, while President Emmanuel Macron engages with key players in the conflict, including Iran, in a bid to position Paris for future diplomatic talks. Macron said that France’s military involvement is strictly “defensive” and aims to avoid making the country a party to the war. He reaffirmed that position after one French soldier was killed Thursday in a drone attack in Iraq. “We are not at war with anyone,” Macron said.

It wasn’t long ago that millions and millions of American kids heard their parents’ best advice: “The only way to get ahead is with a college education.” And millions took their advice. Today’s parents and the kids themselves are skeptical college is worth the cost, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. The national online poll, taken Feb. 24 to Feb. 27, asked 1,456 adults: “Do you believe a four-year college degree is worth the cost for most Americans today, or not?” The answer indicates serious erosion in how Americans view the value of higher education. Overall, of those responding, 59% selected “Not worth the cost,” while just

As cancellations grew, the United Farm Workers (UFW), an organization co-founded by Chavez, released a statement on Tuesday confirming allegations were being made, including ones involving abuse of young women or minors. But even outside the hallowed halls of impartial, politically balanced academia (did I write that with a straight face?) the mantra or cliché that diversity somehow delivers a stronger balance sheet or a more cohesive society or just better outcomes is pervasive in today’s democracies that have committed themselves to multiculturalism and to the various neo-Marxist versions of feminism. Despite that the sheriffs have been elected by Republicans and appointed to the State Immigration Enforcement Council by Republican Gov. Ron De Santis and Republicans, the council members are collaborating on a letter to President Trump calling for a more liberal focus on immigration policy. The call to leniency has already spurred one state official to speak out against the council.
