Conservative icon and Hollywood legend James Woods has announced he’s ditching the Republican Party. Woods, a fierce patriot and vocal supporter of President Trump, blasted the “uniparty traitors” in a fiery post on X, declaring, “I am done with the Republican Party.” Woods’ decision comes amid growing frustration with Senate Republican leadership, particularly cowardly Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), who has continuously stalled the crucial SAVE Act, a bill designed to safeguard American elections by requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration.[snip] “I’m changing my party affiliation to Independent.

I'm sick and tired of these Hollywoodites making political statements, no mater the poltical stripe. Shut up and entertain!

Unfortunately, there's no meaningful alternative, as Elon Musk found out. I doubt James Woods is so stupid as to vote democrat.

I for one am very happy that James Woods is speaking out. He is saying exactly what I would say if I was as well known as he is.
On Fox News this morning Maria Bartiromo grilled John Barrasso, the Senate Majority Whip, as to when the Senate would take up the Save Act. He wriggled like an eel but after much prodding said the Senate would take it up but didn’t say when. President Trump must take a hammer to these spineless Republicans

I did the same thing when they foisted that squishy rino Romney on us. It had no effect, but I sleep better at night knowing I'm not supporting cowards, grifters and appeasers.

I'm with Woods on this though I changed my affiliation over a decade ago. I am unaffiliated because the Republican party sold us down the river long ago. Our worst enemies are Rinos like Tillis. At least you know what a Democrat stands for: death, sexual deviancy, and destruction. The Republicans talk out of both sides of their mouths and the female Republicans who we all think, "Now there's a woman who talks sense," she changes her tune not long after she gets in office, because her feelings get her all muddled up in her thinking. The likes of Schlafly, and Thatcher - these are the hen's teeth of women who don't shift like the wind. I'm sorry if that hurts any woman's feelings but that's my two cents, speaking as a woman. I support Trump and conservatives, but not Republicans.

The Uniparty is no friend of mine. They get plenty of my money - not directly, but after it's laundered by corporate oligarchs from whom I buy things - which reminds me - I need to step up my boycotting.
I'll begin by boycotting US elections - which are the world's most corrupt.
We'll never get new party if people keep voting for Republicans

A non-vote is a vote for a Democrat and once they control all three branches of government, we’ll have to fight our way out of socialism. Even if you have to hold your nose, pull the lever for Republicans. According to St. Augustine, “It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness!”

Is James Woods saying he would have rather voted for Kamala Harris then?

I was a "Young Republican" at NTSU in 1965, Been a Pubbie ever since...I'm siding with Woods on this issue! Wholly owned by China, Mc Connell and Thune, no better, the last two leaders have led the party down the path to the Socialist Paradise they're seeking in NYC.

I wish there was another viable party with the positions the Republicans party is supposed to have, but there isn't so I am stuck with these cowards. Republicans aren't much but they are better than the only viable alternative.

You don't have to be in a party to vote for the best candidate. I switched to Independent years ago and have never voted democrat.
However, to get the RINO Senator Cassidy out of office, I might consider it. We have an excellent conservative, Fleming, trying to take him on in the republican primary. But Trump is trying to force a new RINO, Letlow, on us instead of Fleming.

#11, especially because it is only a Democrat or Republican who wins races. . . I don't think I have ever seen an independent party win a race. They may have had a higher percentage but that is about it.

While I agree with his reasons for leaving, I do not agree with his decision to leave the party. How are you going to change or improve the party if you have elimated your ability (in most states) to vote in party primaries?
Vote the RINOS out of office there, in primaries, and not lose a seat in the general election! His actions make no sense. Sounds like he’s doing this for show rather than logic

I’m not one that usually agrees with Hollywood but James is right in this case. If more people would break from their party then the independent voter becomes of far greater importance. It would force the uniparty to do their job and do what the voters want and quit being the criminal enterprise that they are.

This is a disingenuous article with a click bait headline. Mr. Woods has made it clear that he is a reliable conservative and Trump supporter. He feels he cannot continue to support the Republican Party as an entity, something many of us conservatives have also realized. I am only registered as a Republican so I can vote in my state’s primaries. I give no money to the party. Ever. I only give to individual candidates. Perhaps CA has open primaries, so it doesn’t matter to Mr. Woods.
