They're just messing with us now. From the Epstein files:  STATEMENT OF MANHATTAN U.S. ATTORNEY ON THE DEATH OF DEFENDANT JEFFREY EPSTEIN Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said: "Earlier this morning, the Manhattan Correctional Center confirmed that Jeffrey Epstein, who faced charges brought by this Office of engaging in the sex trafficking of minors, had been found unresponsive in his cell and pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Today's events are disturbing..." I'll say. For one thing, the statement is dated Friday August 9th 2019, and Mr Epstein was not "found unresponsive in his cell" until Saturday August 10th.

Comments:

Beyond the date of death discrepancy, Steyn is puzzled by other items revealed in the never ending Epstein case. Featured in this article is our Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick (Mr. Tariff) reminiscing about his first meeting with neighbor Jeffrey Epstein, noting his disgust and avowal to never meet up with the pedophile again. Whoops! The Epstein files have been released. Also, what do the multiple coded email messages about pizza and grape soda mean?

Not the best Steyn I've read, though still masterfully-written. I didn't know the number of times Trump's name showed up in the Epstein files from back in the day was so high. That's more than a little inconvenient..

The Epstein "suicide" analysis may wind up as messed up as the JFK assassination's Warren Report.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) on Wednesday said the country needs a national conversation about immigrants lacking permanent legal status who “obey the law,” as public opinion sours on the Trump administration’s deportation sweeps. (snip) “On the other hand, people do not want to give them citizenship. So there should be some middle ground here on long-term goals,” he added. Gingrich’s comments coincide with Fox News host Sean Hannity speaking out against workplace raids during immigration enforcement crackdowns nationwide.

President Donald Trump's push to seize Greenland might be the least popular idea in American political history. Is that hyperbole? If so, that's only because reliable and fast public polling is a relatively recent development within our 250-year experiment in self-governance. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Wednesday found a staggering 4 percent of Americans favor the idea of seizing Greenland with military force. Among Republicans, the idea is actually twice as popular: 8 percent say taking the island is a "good idea."

~How was your Thanksgiving? On a day to give thanks for all the blessings of America, it fell to Gary Beckstrom to announce to the world the death of his twenty-year-old daughter, Sarah. That will taint Thanksgiving every year for the rest of Mr Beckstrom's life - in part because his child's blood is on the hands not just of her killer but of the public policy that enabled the murderer to be on the streets of what passes for the national capital.

“We have to do something about labor, and that needs to be a smarter plan than just rounding up every single person and deporting them,” the Georgia congresswoman said. President Donald Trump's trade and immigration agenda is deeply unpopular with the general public. Now, even some of Trump's most loyal allies are voicing their frustrations with the president's policies. During a recent appearance on comedian Tim Dillon's podcast, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R–Ga.) criticized the Trump administration's hardline stance on immigration, warning that its crackdowns create more chaos than security.

Given that an American client state has spent the last month bombing Russia daily, it would be unusual if they were not. But that's no reason to divert the dead husk from another week at his beach house in Delaware. To which Roy Koczela responds: Steyn goes full-on Putinist, literally more submissive to the Kremlin than the Kremlin itself.

Representative Ilhan Omar is one of the most sanctimonious corrupt Democrats in congress, and she’s loud and proud about it because she understands how to engage in financial fraud safely. Someone in DC gave House Oversight Chairman James Comer the familiar tap on the shoulder and told him they don’t investigate their own Uniparty tribe. Olympic athletes aren't stumbling into competition by accident; years of training, taxpayer-backed facilities, national governing bodies, corporate sponsors, and a county willing to invest all come together to push the select few onto the world's stage. Displaying the flag on their uniform represents far more than any fashion choice or personal mood, yet every Olympic cycle seems to attract competitors who want the benefits without sharing the burden of gratitude. U.S. freestyle skier Hunter Hess, a Team USA member, recently voiced his mixed emotions about representing America, citing immigration enforcement and political disagreements. He determined that the flag on his chest represents friends, family, and personal ideals over government

But this exodus might have a saving grace: It might make surrounding states more conservative, right? Well, this has yet to play out favorably for Republicans in some nearby states, including, for example, Arizona.
