"Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed getting in adventures with Joule, his beloved Catahoula Leopard dog who also recently died. He had participated in protests following the killing of Renee Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs officer on Jan. 7." “He cared about people deeply and he was very upset with what was happening in Minneapolis and throughout the United States with ICE, as millions of other people are upset,” said Michael Pretti, Alex’s father. “He thought it was terrible, you know, kidnapping children, just grabbing people off the street. He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong, so he did participate in protests.” https://apnews.com/article/immigration-enforcement-minnesota-protester-alex-pretti-15ade7de6e19cb0291734e85dac763dc Pretti had "issues" and was clearly affected by misinformation about the Good shooting and the "kidnapping of children". He was already emotionally wobly. Was made to believe he had to "do something - and ICE was the enemy.

It appeared that he was walking in the middle of the street and approached officers while they were conducting the operation. How many times have people been told that is asking for a confrontation? The fact he had a gun and ammo should be a big clue his intentions were not peaceful.

This is the outcome of the "resist" Leftists inciting unstable people to "act". Given the strident encouragement, some people don't know how to respond appropriately. Confronting law enforcement, especially when they are in an active law enforcement action has got to be one of the dumbest and most dangerous things you can do, but people like this unfortunate person have very bad judgement. Sadly, we CANNOT allow such people to steer policy and law. If you can nullify law by acting badly, then you have a lawless society. There are legitimate and safe ways to change laws. The Left's problem is that they don't have the votes to get what they want through proper channels. While I regret the loss of life, MANY others have died or suffered at the hands of violent illegals in this Country. Those victims have more legitimacy than the couple of "resisters" who have died while being stupid.

China's defence ministry says it has opened an investigation into the country's highest-ranking general over "grave violations of discipline and the law". The ministry gave no further details about accusations against General Zhang Youxia, who has widely been seen as President Xi Jinping's closest military ally. However in China the accusation of wrongdoing is usually a euphemism for corruption. In its announcement, the ministry said another senior military officer, General Liu Zhenli, was also under investigation. Their removal follows the expulsion of nine top generals in October

The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now."

A federal agent shot and killed a man who was brandishing a gun while officers in Minneapolis were attempting to arrest an illegal criminal Saturday morning, the Department of Homeland Security said. The incident, which was captured on video, drew an immediate crowd of rowdy protesters, prompting law enforcement to fire multiple rounds of tear gas in an effort to disperse them. Rioters were seen hurling trash cans at an armored vehicle and chanting at armed federal officers in the aftermath of the incident.

With one full week to go before current funding expires on several federal agencies, the House has passed the last of its FY2026 budget appropriations. Now the two consolidated bills come to the Senate, and Chuck Schumer has some choices to make. Will he lead Senate Democrats into another shutdown ... or stand down and let the moment pass quietly? House Democrats made the latter more likely yesterday. Enough of them crossed the aisle to pass the bill containing the appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security, while the other consolidated bill sailed to passage: The House passed funding

Murders plummeted more than 20% in 2025 from the year before, the single-largest one-year drop on record — and it might be the lowest murder rate in the U.S. since 1900, a study released Thursday by the Council on Criminal Justice found. The annual crime trends report analyzed data from 40 large cities across the United States for 13 different crime types, including murder, carjacking, theft and drug offenses. Alongside homicides, which dropped 21% from 2024, carjackings have declined 61% since 2023, while shoplifting is down 10% since 2024. In general, the overall crime rate declined

The United States will be able to buy sovereign base areas in Greenland that will become legal U.S. territory “forever” under the terms of a NATO-brokered deal at Davos, reports claim. A “framework” for a future deal negotiated in meetings at the Davos summit in Switzerland this week will see the United States get a sovereign base area modelled on Britain’s military bases on the Island of Cyprus, it is stated. While those bases are not on the British mainland, the UK owns approximately three per cent of the island in two exclaves, which are legally and internationally recognised as an overseas British territory.

Things have never really settled down in Minneapolis where activists have been following ICE agents for weeks. However, things seemed to be getting a little more chaotic today, leading to several scuffles. It started with confrontations at a Speedway gas station where a group of agents had stopped for some snacks. [Some NSFW language in the clips below.] Activists who had been following them swarmed the gas station: Bovino apparently had to leave the store. Someone who works at the Speedway came out and said the store would not serve ICE agents and told them to leave.

Donald Trump, I admit, often makes me shake my head. I am 61, so I still instinctively prefer the Reagan style of respectful optimism and criticizing through gentle humor, even though I fully understand that Reagan led a very different America, and that Trump's hyperaggressiveness is likely better suited to the social media age. It's not a reasoned response; it is a nostalgic impulse. But even I make exceptions for Trump's Don Rickles act in certain cases, such as insulting the World Economic Forum, the United Nations, and * like Adam Schiff. They fully deserve every barb they get, and many, many more.

The Trump administration is actively seeking regime change in Cuba and hopes to cut a deal to end communist rule on the island by the end of the year, according to a report. To facilitate the political transition, the Trump administration is searching for Cuban government insiders who could help the US push the existing communist leaders out of power, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. A “concrete plan” for doing away with the communist government that has ruled Cuba for nearly 70 years has not yet been developed, according to the outlet, but the government’s grip on the island has never been more fragile.

Iran claimed this week to have successfully tested its first long-range intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), a capability that would enable Tehran to strike the eastern seaboard of the United States, according to regime-controlled outlets. The regime purportedly conducted its missile launch from an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps base in the city of Semnan, firing toward Siberia with the approval of the Russian government. The missile would have traveled up to 3,700 miles to reach its target, though video of the supposed launch only shows an airborne projectile soaring through the clouds. The Democrat, in a sit-down with 12 News anchor Brahm Resnik, warned that Arizona’s “Stand Your Ground” law, which allows citizens to use deadly force if they believe they’re in imminent danger, could become a “recipe for disaster” if protesters clash with immigration officers. “It’s kind of a recipe for disaster because you have these masked federal officers with very little identification, sometimes no identification, wearing plain clothes and masks,” Mayes said in the Monday interview, calling ICE “very poorly trained.”

European leaders worked themselves up into full-blown hysteria before President Trump spoke to the World Economic Forum this week with wild claims that Trump planned a U.S. invasion of Greenland that would destroy the NATO alliance and the rules-based international order. A couple of dozen European troops were hurriedly sent to Greenland. French President Macron called for an emergency G7 summit. European leaders also discussed implementing a “bazooka” trade retaliation against the United States. But when Trump spoke at the Davos Summit on Wednesday, these hair-on-fire claims melted away in the face of his masterful speech, which laid out in depth his successful record of promoting global security and ending wars.

Some of us are old enough to remember Matthew Lesko, the lanky, fast-talking late-night TV pitchman who promised people free government money to those who bought his books. There are, Lesko said in one of his countless ads decades ago, “15,000 programs you can use to get a better job, get an education, or start your own business. Those who know about the programs are the ones who get the money!” Lesko was right about how easy it is to get taxpayer money. What Lesko didn’t say is that it’s easy to do even when it violates the law — especially if you live in a state run by Democrats.
