Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) is retiring from Congress after serving 45 years in the lower chamber. “I did not want to be one of those members who clearly stayed, outstayed his or her ability to do the job,” Hoyer, 86, told The Washington Post in an interview published late Wednesday. The Maryland Democrat said on social platform X he would be making an announcement on Thursday morning on the House floor, which is anticipated to be when he’ll officially announce his retirement. If this were a Republican announcing retirement, you would be reading articles bemoaning how this could cause the GOP to lose the house in the midterms. Now that a Democrat is announcing his retirement you don't see discussion about how this weakens the Democrat effort to retake the house. Even though his is a safe seat in a very blue state, this is an example of mainstream media bias.

Sen. Rick Scott: Cuban government will

Republican Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), a close ally of President Trump, is predicting the Cuban government will be overthrown “this year” or “next year” as the U.S. blockade of oil exports from Venezuela is ramping up pressure on the communist Cuban regime. “I think it will probably happen maybe this year, maybe next year. It’s going to happen. I thought Maduro would be out by Christmas. It took a little bit longer. So who knows when it’s going to happen, but we’re gonna get democracy,” Scott predicted in an interview with NewsNation’s Blake Burman.

Dozens of Republicans broke ranks and joined Democrats to override two of President Trump’s vetoes, though the effort ultimately fell short. Thirty-five Republicans voted to override a veto on a bill that would have funded a pipeline to deliver clean water to southeastern Colorado, while 24 Republicans supported a veto override on a bill to grant the Miccosukee Tribe authority to manage part of the Florida Everglades. However, the House ultimately voted to uphold both of Trump’s vetoes, given the required two-thirds threshold for an override. The Republicans who voted to override the veto on the Florida tribe bill were:

The House on Thursday failed to override President Trump’s vetoes of two previously uncontroversial bills concerning a Colorado water project and expanding lands of a tribe in Florida. The move showcases House Republicans’ loyalty to the president and support for his political battles, as the vetoes had been seen as instances of Trump acting on political grudges.A vote to override Trump’s veto on a Colorado water project — a bill spearheaded by Trump ally Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) — failed 248-177-1, with 35 Republicans voting with Democrats to override the veto and one Republican, Rep. Nancy Mace (S.C.), voting present.

Dramatic video purportedly shows the moment an ICE agent opened fire and killed a 37-year-old woman who attempted to barrel her SUV into the officer’s path in Minneapolis Wednesday morning — as the mayor furiously demanded the agency “get the f–k out” of the city. In the footage being widely circulated on social media from varying angles, ICE officers approach a plum-colored Honda Pilot and order the driver out of the vehicle after she blocked the path of their truck. As one of the agents attempts to open the door, she quickly throws the car into reverse before trying to speed forward in the direction of another agent in her path.

Pakistan has repeatedly demonstrated its unreliability as a strategic partner. Pakistan's leadership unfortunately prefers Iran to the United States — not to mention Israel. Unfortunately, the US cannot trust Pakistan — especially in Gaza. Pakistan has, to this day, never recognized Israel. Pakistan was also the first country to recognize the Islamic Republic of Iran after Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini established it in 1979. Iran had been the first country to recognize Pakistan upon its founding in 1947. The most recent example of Pakistan's close alliance with Iran emerged during the June 2025 Twelve-Day War — a direct armed conflict between Iran and a coalition of Israel and the United States. Tim Walz dropping out of Minnesota’s gubernatorial race hearkens back to the early days of the Harris-Walz 2024 ticket. Less than a week after Kamala Harris secured the Democrat presidential nomination, she selected Walz as her running mate. In Democrats’ imagination, the Minnesota governor would magically sweep the working class, rural voters, and men into the fold like Joe Biden 2.0, all while serving as the Democrat model of manhood — an obsequious, plushie personality nearly entirely feminine in nature, with a few accoutrements of manhood tacked on. Mercifully, the plan failed, along with the Harris-Walz candidacy.
