It was one of the most extraordinary performances by an American political leader since the Confederates seceded in 1861 (snip)We have never seen anything like it, not just in Minnesota but anywhere in America, since the Civil War: a governor threatening to call out the National Guard to forcibly resist federal authority and prevent the enforcement of our national laws. George Wallace didn’t do that. Ross Barnett didn’t do that. Walz can’t seriously think that the Minnesota National Guard can militarily resist federal authority.

DHS says the person shot by an ICE agent has died.
In a statement to FOX 9, ICE says officers were conducting its operation when protesters began blocking officers.
"One of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism," the statement reads. "An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots.He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers."
Gov. Tim Walz says the state is anticipating and preparing for increased ICE enforcement actions over the holidays, including the possibility of ICE agents targeting Christmas Eve mass. (snip) "We hear rumors, we hear suggestions of things, because that's how they operate, that there will be an increased presence," said Gov. Walz. "I would tell you, if I were a betting person, they will do it over these holiday seasons because it makes it especially cruel."
Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers working in St. Paul Sunday became involved in a use-of-force incident with shots fired after a suspect struck officers, rammed their vehicles, and proceeded to bite officers.
The suspect has since been identified by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE as Cuban illegal alien Juan Carlos Rodrigues Romero in statements posted on social media. (snip) “This dangerous attempt to evade arrest comes after sanctuary politicians, like Governor Walz and other radical leftists, demeaned ICE and held events to help illegal aliens evade arrest,” said ICE.
A federal agent was hit by a vehicle in St. Paul, Minnesota, Sunday morning and subsequently fired their weapon, according to police.
The St. Paul Police Department said the federal agent suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, and the suspect was not injured. Federal agents took the suspect into custody, police said. (snip) Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the suspect is an undocumented immigrant from Cuba who was "noncompliant" during a traffic stop.

Amid reports of a federal crackdown targeting Somali immigrants, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on Wednesday issued an executive order prohibiting law enforcement from using city-owned parking lots for immigration operations. Twin Cities leaders spoke out against the Trump administration Tuesday after The New York Times reported federal officials are planning an alleged "crackdown" on Somali immigration in Minnesota.

Minnesota’s state and local authorities — Governor Walz, Attorney General Ellison, and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, to take only the leading figures — have all but explictly called for resistance to federal law enforcement in Minnesota. Walz, for example, has referred to ICE as the Gestapo and called for “a firewall” against it in Minnesota. Walz and fellow Democrats support a form of what was called “massive resistance” when Senator Harry Byrd sought to block the integration of public schools in the era of Southern segregation.

As an assistant professor at Columbia University, Abdul El-Sayed said he held dual U.S.-Egyptian citizenship. El-Sayed is now running for a Michigan Senate seat, and his campaign says that was a mistake—he's not an Egyptian citizen and never has been.
El-Sayed was born in Michigan to Egyptian émigrés. He graduated from Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2014 and joined Columbia's Mailman School of Public Health the same year. Around that time, El-Sayed published his résumé on an academic networking site. It lists his "citizenships" as "USA, Egypt." El-Sayed's résumé was removed from the site he published it to, Academia, after the Washington Free Beacon sent it to the campaign.
